SYNOPSIS #2

"I got something white you can drink," I whispered in her ear as she stepped on my foot. Laughing, I grabbed her hand to walk her to our table. We had been standing around long enough.

About an hour later the party was in full swing. The DJ had started off playing classical music and all that fancy bullshit. But now his ass was playing twerk music. Everybody went crazy when the beat dropped for the next song, Juvenile's "Back That Thang Up."

"That's my shit! Come dance with me," Journi said, grabbing my hands.

"Girl, if you don't sit your ass down somewhere," I laughed, yet I allowed myself to be pulled up from my seat.

By the time we made it to the dance floor the song had started, as Journi bent over in front of me and began throwing that muthafucka.

I wasn't much of a dancer, but I grabbed her hips and was catching it every time she threw it back.

"Ayyye, you better fuck it up!" I heard Lyric yelling as Journi got even lower so that her hands were near the ground.

I for a second forgot this was a dance as I pushed her back lower, making her arch that ass higher, as I lifted one leg up and continued catching that ass each time she threw it back at me.

Although we was attracting a crowd, I had tunnel vision 'cuz that ass was the only thing I saw.

The DJ abruptly switched to a slow song as everybody scattered like roaches to either boo up or go back to their seat.

Journi started laughing while struggling to stand back up.

"That's what yo ass gets doing all that," I said, laughing, once she finally stood up. Pulling her to me as close as her belly would allow, she wrapped her arms around my neck. I couldn't resist the urge to give her a kiss as my hands slow creeped down her back to grab a handful of all that ass.

"Stop, my daddy could be watching," she said, breaking the kiss and moving my hands. She went from smiling to frowning as she seemed to wobble a bit, looking unsteady on her feet.

"You good?" I said.

"I just got dizzy for a second," she said, with her hand on her belly.

"Come on, let's go. You done dancing and walking around. We gone leave in a minute after I make my rounds. But until then you sitting down and not moving," I said, steering her back towards our table as I looked around trying to find Lyric.

"I'm fine, I just got a little hot and worked up. I need some water and fresh air, it's stuffy in here," she said.

"Ok, I'll go grab you a bottle, you go sit down," I said.

"That makes no sense because then I'll still need that fresh air. I'll just go with you to the bar," she said, already walking off towards the bar before I could object.

To be big and pregnant her ass was wobbling fast as hell. I caught up with her and grabbed her by the arm, leading her towards the bar. We had barely taken two more steps before she stopped and sucked in a sharp breath, gripping my arm extra fuckin' tight.

"Khaizon," she said at the same time as I felt something wet hitting my shoes. Thinking some muthafucka had wasted their drink on the floor or something, I looked down, noticing a puddle forming under Journi.

"Damn, bae, you pissing on yourself?" I said. Had this been the first time I would have been more surprised, but it wasn't.

"No, I'm not peeing," she said, looking down and then quickly looking back up. "I think my water just broke."

"Quit fuckin' with me, that's not funny," I said.

"Nigga, does it look like I'm laughing!" she said before her entire face morphed like she was experiencing excruciating pain.

"Wait, wait, this ain't right, it ain't time," I said, feeling myself freaking out for the first time in my life. Hell, I didn't even panic when I caught my first body at twelve, but her water breaking had my ass low key panicking.

"Ok, ok, calm down. I'ma go sit you down, find Lyric, then have the driver bring the car around," I said.

"Arghhh," Journi screamed before doubling over in pain.

"Fuck this," I said, bending down and picking her up. I turned to walk back towards the table just as gunshots rang out.

POW! POW! POW!

As gunshots rang out, and chaos broke out all around me, I didn't stop to think about anything as I tightened my hold on Journi and pivoted towards the left.

In a matter of seconds the party had gone from a cool vibe to a fuckin nightmare.

Muthafuckas was screaming, diving over chairs, and trampling each other trying to get low.

A woman in a silver dress went down two feet in front of me and never got back up, and I couldn't tell if she got hit or got stomped.

The big five level champagne tower that the party planner had insisted on got clipped by a spray of bullets and exploded, raining glass and champagne down on everybody near it.

Niggas was slipping and sliding all over the floor like they was at a fucking amusement park.

This was the problem with mixing street certified hustlas with law abiding citizens, pure fuckin' chaos.

Times like this I was happy as fuck I never skipped leg day as I adjusted Journi in my arms and continued towards the dinner tables for cover.

We was halfway there when some scary ass nigga ran past us and pushed two women down in his rush to get away.

Before their bodies even hit the ground, his ass caught two bullets in his back causing blood to spray all over us.

That's what his bitch ass gets, I thought to myself.

Grabbing my gun, I turned my body sideways to shield Journi from any stray bullets as I took aim towards the shooters and opened fire while still running towards the dinner tables for cover.

POW! POW! POW!

"Ahhhh," Journi screamed as I finally made it to a table and sat her gently down on the floor. Standing up, I swiped everything off the round table before flipping it over on its side so that it provided some type of cover for her.

"Fuck," I yelled out trying to get my anger under control before I bent back down to check on her. I forced myself to ignore all the madness going on and solely focus on the most important thing in here to me.

"You hit?" I asked her taking in the pained expression on her face. I damn near held my breath waiting on her response as my eyes quickly did a scan over her body. Because of blood splattering on her, I couldn't tell if all of it was other people's or hers.

"No," she said breathing hard while clutching her stomach with one hand and reaching for my hand with the other.

She screamed again as the sounds of gunfire grew louder and closer to us.

Instead of getting back up, I blocked everything out but the sound of her voice.

I found myself in a dangerous situation, allowing a female to become a distraction for me.

While in the middle of a damn warzone, instead of immediately leaving her and joining the fight, I hadn't moved.

I had my custom chrome Beretta in one hand while holding Journi's hand with my other hand.

I was battling with myself on what to do next.

I've never been a nigga that let my soldiers go to war without me.

I was the type that was headfirst on the battlefield with my niggas.

But, right now all I was worried about was her.
