Chapter 10 Tree Shadow
For the next while, Sheng Yichuan kept sending me messages.
He sent them one after another.
I replied when I felt like it. When I didn’t, I ignored him.
On Friday night, I asked Sheng Yan to let me stay over at his place.
He came to pick me up from school.
The moment I walked out of the dorm building, I ran into Sheng Yichuan.
“Chen Songhe,” he called out, “I want to talk to you.”
“About what?” I asked absentmindedly.
“Don’t misunderstand. You keep rejecting my dinner invitations, so I had no choice but to intercept you like this.”
“You… have met my brother, right?”
Only then did I look at him properly.
“I have. What about it?”
“Isn’t he a bit cold and unapproachable?”
During the day, yes.
At night though… I thought of the way Sheng Yan’s muscles tensed and sweat rolled down his skin.
“He’s the family heir. Our parents put a lot of pressure on him, so he’s used to acting that way. But he’s not a bad person.”
“Oh. And?”
“My brother really cares about me. If you stay with me in the future, he’ll treat you generously too.”
He talked about Sheng Yan like he was his greatest pride.
As for being generous…
I remembered the abdominal photos Sheng Yan had sent me.
Very generous indeed.
But—
“Who said I was going to stay with you?”
Sheng Yichuan scratched his head. “About the Marriage Agreement, there’s been a misunderstanding. Can we not cancel it yet?”
I almost laughed.
Then I caught sight of Sheng Yan.
He had arrived at some point and was silently standing behind a tree, not coming forward.
An idea came to me. I deliberately put on a troubled expression and told Sheng Yichuan:
“Even if we don’t cancel it, I don’t plan to marry you.”
“Why?”
“I just don’t like your type.”
Sheng Yichuan was stunned. “Then what type do you like?”
“Your brother’s type.”
