Chapter 18 The Broken Promise

“Were all the things you said before lies?”

Sheng Yan asked.

I couldn’t answer.

My voice shattered in my throat.

After it ended, Sheng Yan held me.

He refused to let go.

It seemed that rainy night had left him with a deep shadow.

The moment he loosened his grip, I would disappear.

I said helplessly, “Sheng Yan, this is my home. I’m not going anywhere.”

“I don’t believe you.”

I said nothing.

“You said you would stay with me forever.”

“You also said you liked me very much.”

“Liar.”

I knew I was in the wrong and couldn’t argue.

So I raised my hand and touched his face.

A small scar had appeared on his brow bone.

I asked, “How did this happen?”

“Sheng Yichuan hit me.”

“You really fought?”

“He didn’t get off easy either. His scar is at the corner of his mouth.”

I said sincerely, “I’m sorry. It’s all my fault.”

“I don’t want your apology.”

“Then what do you want to hear?”

He paused for a moment, then said in a defeated voice, “I still want to hear you lie to me some more.”

I laughed.

“Sheng Yan, aren’t you angry with me?”

“I am. Furious.”

“Then why did you come find me?”

“Because I’m sick. I want to anger myself to death.”

His tone was a little fierce.

In the end he buried his face in my neck, breathing me in.

“Chen Songhe, I love you.

“I don’t know when it started. Maybe it accumulated bit by bit from our daily life… By the time I realized it, I was already obsessed with everything about you. Your body, your smile, your emotions.”

He paused, then said in despair,

“I know you’re a liar, a master at playing with hearts.

“But I can’t control it.”

Sheng Yan seemed about to choke up again.

“So can you keep lying to me a little longer?

“Don’t abandon me so soon.”
