Chapter 7 #3

It ain’t a question, and her eyes flash as she leans into my chest, teeth biting into muscle, the sharp hit of pain shooting up with pleasure.

‘That’s my girl.’

And I lose all sense of time and place as I pound into her. A fierce, urgent rhythm, that she matches thrust for thrust. Heat, chlorine, want thicken the air, the wet slap of our bodies echoing as loud as her cries ever did.

Towels fall off the rack, tools hit the deck, bottles roll…

‘Jesus. Axel. Jesus,’ she pants up at me, eyes wide, almost disbelieving – hell, I’m disbelieving. That it’s her eyes looking at me, her body clinging to me, her pussy holding me tight.

‘Believe it, Baby Girl.’ I lean in, bite the soft skin of her neck, graze her lobe with my teeth. ‘I told you I’d give you what you asked for; I meant it.’

I reach between us, thumb stroking over her clit.

‘Until you have my baby inside you,’ I say against her ear, ‘this is what you’ll get.’

And I drive into her, again and again. Hard, relentless, until she’s shattering against me. Her climax so perfect, so mine, and my release tears through me, spasm after spasm, spilling hot inside her.

And that’s me: trembling, shaken, wrecked to my core…

Another piece of me gone. At least that’s how it feels. Physically. Metaphorically.

But what happens when there’s nothing left of me to give?

My fist loosens without my permission, her wrists slipping free. Her arms close around me, and I should shrug them off – I know I should – but I don’t. I can’t.

I shove my face into her neck and her scent hits me. Too familiar. Too much. It’s supposed to steady me, but it knocks me off balance, the ground sliding out from under me… and I’m fucked if I fall.

‘Wow,’ she murmurs, hot breath against my ear, fingers stroking through my hair.

‘Yeah, wow…’

Because what happens when I have to walk away and there’s nothing left of me to walk?

‘Axel, mate, you here?’

My head shoots up as Taylor stiffens around me, her curse an echo of my own – Theo.

‘He must have seen your stuff,’ she whispers.

‘My stuff with your hat, your glasses…’

Shit.

‘I’ll go get rid of him,’ I say, pulling out of her, my body resenting the loss even as my head tells me to get back in my lane. Toe the line.

I snatch a towel from the shelf and swipe it between us, slowing to caress her clean and she sucks in a breath, her stomach contracting as her legs tighten and tremble.

She meets my gaze, lip trapped in her teeth, a whimper teasing low in her throat. And I realise if I don’t stop this second, I won’t be going anywhere until I tip her over again – survival and getting caught be damned.

I take her hand and place it over the towel, a silent command for her to take over, and pull my shorts up. ‘Hang back until we’re gone.’

She nods – like she even needed telling – and I wrench my gaze away, my body with it.

‘But Axel?’ she whisper-shouts.

‘Yeah.’

‘We need to talk… soon.’

She wants to get into the details. Of course she does. Taylor’s a planner. She needs to be one step ahead always. Not two fucks behind.

Same usually goes for me. But in this, I’d rather live in the moment and pretend the future doesn’t exist. Though when that future is supposed to bring her the baby she longs for… an innocent in all of this…

‘Yeah.’ I drag a hand through my hair. ‘I know.’

I thrust open the door, wishing I could bust out of the tightness in my chest as easy, and squint against the blaze of the midday sun. I fling a hand up to shield my eyes and almost take out a looming Theo in the process.

‘Bloody hell, Ax, you scared the shit out of me!’ He presses a hand to his chest and stumbles back, sunglassed gaze flicking from me to the door now swinging shut. ‘What on earth were you doing in—?’

‘The pump was making a noise. Thought I’d check it out.’

‘Since when has pool maintenance been your thing?’

I shrug. ‘Figured I’d take a closer look, then report it.’

His frown doesn’t ease as he takes a step towards the closed door and I move to block him.

‘It all sounds pretty normal to me.’

‘Yeah, it stopped when I got in there, but I’ll let the guys know so they can check it out.’ I walk past him to grab my towel off the bed, my phone and bottle with it. ‘You coming? Taylor said you wanted to see me?’

‘Yeah.’ He gives the door one last look and moves. ‘Where is she, anyway?’ He nods to her things on the bed. ‘Those are hers, right?’

I flick the towel over my shoulder. ‘Knowing Tay, she’ll be off cracking the whip on the wedding planner.’

Funny how lying to my best bud comes easy when I get to screw the other.

Also, funny how Tay and flogging spring readily to mind.

And Theo and Tay say I ain’t fucked up…

They’re supposed to be the clever ones, too.

‘Seriously? We hired a wedding planner to avoid any of us getting caught up in it.’

‘This is Taylor you’re talking about; you honestly thought that would stop the Queen Bee from overseeing the entire damn thing?’

He chuckles. ‘Good point. You think she’ll ever quit trying to rule the world?’

My mouth quirks. She might rule the world, but I was busy ruining her kingdom just minutes ago.

‘If it hadn’t been for her obsession with world domination, I ain’t convinced we’d be where we are now.’

Theo nods, eyes still sweeping the surroundings for her. ‘You’re probably right.’

‘I know I’m right. Now come on, you wanted to talk; let’s talk.’

And then I move, making sure he has no choice but to follow…
