Glitter Bats in Conversation with Mary Kate Hampton for Buzzword

Video Description: Valerie Quinn, Caleb Sloane, Riker Maddox, Keeley Cunningham, and Jane Mercer sit in two rows of director’s chairs at Buzzword HQ in Los Angeles. The room has bright purple walls and a shiny wooden floor. Mary Kate Hampton sits across from them with a tablet in hand.

Video Transcript:

Mary Kate Hampton: Thank you all for meeting me today.

Riker Maddox: Anything for you, MK.

Keeley Cunningham: Okay, Maddox, keep it in your pants.

RM: I’m trying to be polite , Keels. Something you could learn from me.

[Laughter from all]

Caleb Sloane: We’re all very happy to be here, Mary Kate.

MKH: The concert is tomorrow! That must be such a thrill after all this time. How are you feeling?

Valerie Quinn: Working together again is a dream come true.

Jane Mercer: I agree—I can’t believe this is finally happening.

KC: These [*******] are some of my favorite people in the world. [ Clears throat. ] Wait, am I allowed to swear?

RM: NO, Keeley.

MKH: [ laughs ] We’ll cut anything out if needed.

KC: I’ll behave.

JM: Don’t make promises you can’t keep, Keeley.

[More laughter]

CS: I think we’re off topic, but I’ll tell you I’m both nervous and excited about tomorrow. It’s been a long time since I’ve played music—and I haven’t played in front of this many people since the Bittersweet tour.

MKH: That tour ended early. What happened?

VQ: It was my fault, I—

CS: [ interrupts, turning to VQ ] That’s not true.

VQ: Yes it is. I’m the reason you left.

CS: You didn’t make that choice for me. [ turns to MKH ] Everyone has always been so quick to blame Valerie, but I dealt poorly with a personal matter, and I left the band—which is essentially what broke up the Glitter Bats. Valerie was not responsible for my actions. I was young and stupid and letting my emotions get the best of me. Really, it’s a testament to her passion that this reunion is even happening.

MKH: Were there any hard feelings when you all started playing together again?

RM: [ laughs dryly ] Yeah, there were a few.

JM: It was a…tense few days.

KC: I had to get my head out of my [***], but I eventually forgave everyone.

VQ: I had a lot of apologies to make.

CS: [ grabs her hand ] So did I.

MKH: Well, I think I can speak on behalf of the entire Glitterbug community when I say I’m glad to see you all together again.

RM: Do you run a secret fan account, Mary Kate?

MKH: I’m not the one being interviewed here.

CS: We must be a nightmare. Descending into chaos already.

MKH: This is not even close to the most chaotic interview I’ve conducted, but I appreciate your concern.

VQ: Is this Caleb going into teacher mode?

CS: I have excellent classroom management.

MKH: Caleb, you’ve been working away from the industry, which we spoke about a couple weeks ago. I’ll refrain from rehashing it here, but I know fans are excited to see you back onstage. Can any of you tell fans what they can expect tomorrow?

VQ: Our lips are sealed.

RM: I think it’s safe to say we have a few surprises.

JM: It’s sold out, but you can still catch the livestream. The concert will be broadcast on The Network, and you won’t want to miss it.

MKH: Can’t wait. But for today, we have a game for you, if you’re up for it.

KC: Of course we’re [****]ing up for it.

VQ: We’re a very competitive group.

MKH: Perfect! So the game is called…
