Chapter 41
Contingency
Sara
“This isn’t what I had in mind, pip.” Dante gives me a put-out look as I cuff his other wrist. But he did ask me what I wanted. And a Viking that’s mine to do with as I please, stretched out naked on a bed, sounded enticing.
Wearing the silky robe again, I shrug and latch the cuff into place. “I can’t tie all of you down.”
Dante is a big guy, like all around. Arms, chest, thighs, cock. I really want to drive him out of his mind with pleasure the way they’ve done to me. A knock sounds at the door and Drew backs away from what I’m doing. They’ve all been watching with amusement.
“Yeah.” Finn sits on the side of the bed, running a large feather through his fingers. “Don’t worry. She’ll be gentle.”
He barely hides his grin. Dante rolls his eyes.
I set the feather out with a few other things earlier, after digging through the drawers. The selection of kinky sex items is amazing. I want to try everything in there, but I couldn’t possibly get through them all today.
Speaking of kinky things, I’m tempted to ask Wyatt, who’s watching me like a hawk from a chair, about the dildo collection I found in his drawer. But now probably isn’t the time to remind him I invaded his privacy.
When I finish with Dante’s ankle, I sit between his knees and study him, trying to figure out what to do first. His hard cock strains against his abs. I wet my lips. I want to take my time to explore every inch of him. To see how he reacts to every touch.
I know I said I didn’t want an end date looming over me, but not having one creates this sense of urgency. A burning need to try everything with these guys before this all ends.
Finn holds out the feather. “Go crazy, flower.”
When I take it, Dante chuckles darkly, sending bolts of pleasure through me.
“Just remember, pipsqueak, turnabout is fair play.” His pale blue eyes are delightfully wicked. My thighs clench against my aching center.
I smirk. “Fuck, I hope so.”
Drew clears his throat. “I’m afraid we have a situation.”
Wyatt straightens, instantly alert at the seriousness in Drew’s voice. “What’s happening?”
“Release me, pip.” The command in Dante’s voice makes me want to jump to attention too.
I pout a little. I haven’t gotten to do anything to him yet.
“I’ll let you play another time.” His expression is indulgent. I love that he’s willing to let me try this again.
Finn stands and works on Dante’s ankles while I straddle his waist and untie his wrists.
“What’s the situation?” Wyatt walks over to his neatly folded pants and tugs them on while glaring at Drew.
“Some men who Tom has met with here have a table. My bouncer recognized them from before. I don’t know if they’re the same men from the video.”
Wyatt brings our clothes over and helps me off the bed. His hand squeezes mine gently. Everyone focuses on getting dressed while Drew continues.
“They’re asking about Sara.” His serious brown eyes capture mine. “My bouncers and the dancers that know you’re here won’t tell them anything. But I don’t like that they know you could be here. My stake in this business isn’t public knowledge. We need to get you out of here now.”
My fingers shake as I try to latch my bra. Finn brushes them away and takes over the task. He’s quick and efficient as he helps me get the rest of the clothes I packed on. There’s worry in his green eyes as he straightens my shirt.
Those men are asking about me. Here. Do they know about me and Drew? We haven’t been sneaking around, but we also haven’t been super public about our relationship. Not really. But asking for me here? At Veiled Vixen? Means they know more about me than we thought.
And we know absolutely nothing about them.
Yet.
“Wait.” I turn. Everyone is dressed. Dante is tying his shoe. “What if I talk to them? We can figure out what they want. It’s not like they can do anything to me here.”
“Absolutely not.” Wyatt steps closer to me.
“Why not?” I cross my arms over my chest. “Again, you guys are here. Drew has trained bouncers. I’m safe. They’re asking for me, so why not figure out what they want?”
“These may be dangerous men, pip.” Dante straightens to his full height. His shirt stretches tight over his hard muscles. My body hasn’t received the memo that fun times are over quite yet.
“Exactly. Do you want to wait until they track me down alone?” I arch an eyebrow as I look at each of them. “If it’s the same guys, they had plenty of opportunity to harm me when I was alone in the townhouse.”
I point to Dante. “You said they were sending a message. Well, fuck it, let’s hear what that message is.”
“She’s right.” Finn steps up behind me. His warmth surrounds me, and I lean back against him. “We don’t have any clue what Tom has gotten into this time. Maybe it’s time we meet with these guys, find out why Tom is running.”
“You want to risk Sara’s safety?” Wyatt’s eyes burn. “We can find out another way—”
“We’ve been searching for a week.” Finn shakes his head. “We still don’t know anything.”
“You’ll be with me,” I assure Wyatt. “It’s not like I’m alone at my townhouse, facing them with only Peabody at my side.”
Thankfully, my dog walker was able to take Peabody on short notice this morning and keep him for the day and night. It’s nice to not have to worry about the furball.
“She’s not wrong.” Drew leans against the bar. For all intents and purposes, he appears casual, but there’s this energy buzzing beneath the surface. We’re still getting to know each other, but I’m beginning to notice more about him. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that he’s on my side.
Dante moves to stand beside Wyatt and puts his hand on Wyatt’s shoulder. “We don’t know the lengths they’re willing to go to get to her. This may be an opportunity to actually figure out the potential danger she’s in.”
My insides shimmer with Dante’s words. Only one more to convince.
I step forward and put my hand over Wyatt’s heart. It pounds fiercely. My heart flutters in response. His dark eyes meet mine and a muscle in his jaw ticks. I’ve always had to hold my urges back when it came to Wyatt, but I don’t right now.
Wrapping my arms around his waist, I rest my head against his heart.
“We’re stronger together,” I say softly.
His arms pull me in tighter against him and I release a little sigh. This is where I belong.
“If we do this—”
I pull back to grin up at him.
“If, Sara, if.” The harsh planes of his face soften.
His dark eyes search mine. “You don’t take any chances.
You stay with at least one of us at all times.
You don’t offer anything or give them any information.
If they ask a question, think before you answer.
Ask yourself, Will the information reveal something about me or Tom that they don’t already know? Got it?”
I nod and bite my lip. We have no idea what these men do. At least the bouncers patted them down before they came in. I need to do this.
“I can offer my office if you’d like a more private setting.” Drew steps in and brushes my hair behind my ear. I step back from Wyatt.
“Let’s start in the club.” Dante wraps an arm around my waist and tucks me into his side.
I pull away. I have no makeup on. My hair is probably a mess. “Before we do anything, I need to freshen up.”
Stepping out of that suite feels like leaving this little secure pocket in the world where I could be with my four guys without any judgment. Outside of that room, I have a relationship with Drew, but not with the others. They’re just my brother’s friends.
Madison had to keep her relationship secret for a while. The guys even dated other women. I was one of those dates, which is how I got to know Madison and her guys. But this is different.
We haven’t really defined what this is beyond today. Besides exploring this attraction.
Dante’s hand rests on the small of my back, and I resist the urge to lean against him as we follow Drew and Wyatt through the club with Finn behind us.
My stomach twists with nerves as we walk, knowing I might be meeting the men my brother is running from. Fuck, maybe this whole false bravado is a bad move. Maybe I should turn around and take the back door out of the club. Disappear with my guys back to their apartment. Back to safety.
When Drew and Wyatt stop, I glance up at Dante. His fingers rub my back lightly to try to steady me. We need information. Whoever this is must have some, or why would they be looking for me? And how could they have found this connection?
“Good evening, gentlemen.” Drew’s voice is loud and boisterous. “You’ve been asking about my girlfriend?”
“We need to talk to Sara Morris.” A man in a black suit stands up from the table.
I swallow, but I’m not going to back down now. Drawing strength from Dante’s touch, I step beside Drew, but next to Wyatt.
“I’m Sara.”
The man has brown hair and brown eyes. He’s maybe six feet tall. He holds out his hand. “Jacob Price. This is my associate, Ethan Martinez.”
When I lift my arm to shake his hand, Wyatt blocks me. His hand wraps around my forearm like a brand.
“What do you want with Sara?” Wyatt asks.
“We were hoping you could help us find Tom Morris.” Ethan leans back in his chair and studies all of us. He has dark hair, dark eyes and tan skin. Those eyes don’t miss anything as he focuses on Wyatt’s possessive grip.
I step closer to Drew and Wyatt drops his hold on me. “What do you want with Tom?”
Jacob glances at Ethan and then looks at Drew. “Is there somewhere private we can talk?”
Drew glances at Wyatt who nods slightly. “My office. Follow me.”
Wrapping his arm around my waist, Drew leads the way to his office. My guys follow the two men. A lump settles in my stomach. What the hell is Tom involved in?
When we enter the office, Drew guides me to the sofa. I sink onto it. Finn sits on my other side while Dante and Wyatt stand behind us. I want to take someone’s hand, but know I shouldn’t give anything away. I clasp my hands in my lap.
“Please have a seat.” Drew gestures to the chairs across from us before sitting beside me. He slides his hand into mine and takes it onto his lap, rubbing the back of my hand with his.
The two men sit and look at each other.
“May we have your names, gentlemen?” Jacob looks at Dante, Wyatt, and Finn.
“Who exactly are you and what do you want from Sara?” Wyatt’s voice is emotionless.
Jacob clasps his hands between his knees and looks at each guy in turn. “We know you’re Tom Morris’s business partners.”
Finn’s fingers twitch like he wants to reach out and grab my hand. These men know a lot about us and we know absolutely nothing about them.
Ethan looks at Jacob before he turns to Drew. “Are there any recording devices in this room?”
“No.” Drew squeezes my hand.
“Did you know what Tom was working on before he went missing?” Jacob asks.
“Missing?” The word pops out. I swallow down the sudden lump in my throat. Tom isn’t missing. He left.
Jacob and Ethan exchange a look. One that doesn’t spark confidence in me.
Fuck. Tom does this. He gets worked up over something and has to think about it, so he takes off. He always comes back. Always.
“Has he been in contact with you? Or did you know the clients he was working for prior to his...” Jacob pauses and looks at me before continuing, “his leaving.”
“We don’t usually give out client information.” Wyatt’s tone is professional, but I can feel the undercurrent coming from my guys. They’re wary of these men. “While we’re asking questions, why did you break into Sara’s house?”
Jacob and Ethan look at each other again like they’re trying to figure something out. Ethan nods. Jacob clasps his hands together.
“It’s important we find Tom before other interested parties do.” Jacob reaches into his back pocket and pulls out a black wallet. He opens it and sets it on the table between us.
My gaze falls to it. An FBI badge. My eyes widen and my heart skips.
“Tom may be in serious danger.”
