Stalking through the building, I followed the melodious laughter coming from the kitchen.

Some of the old ladies were busy preparing supper, per usual, after two in the afternoon.

But I didn’t know who was on cooking duty.

It changed daily with so many new babies in the club.

We needed to hire a full-time chef. Especially now that Sugar and Tina, our head cooks, had their new babies.

The clubhouse had become overrun with kids. It needed to stop. Kids and I didn’t mix very well. Hell, we didn’t mix at all.

At one of the round dining tables, my beautiful lady was holding Chase, Storm and Angel’s baby. The endearing sight made my heart lock up, but I schooled my reaction.

“Hi, handsome.” She beamed and kissed the top of the sleeping infant’s head.

She was a terrific auntie to many in the club. Although, I had noticed she gravitated more to the babies than the toddlers. Couldn’t say I blamed her. The toddlers in the club were rambunctious little squirts.

Birdie had been the most well-behaved, taking after her momma. But she had a little of Storm in her, too. Which meant, she exploded at least once a week in a full on tantrum.

Usually, Libby snatched up Track and Brynne’s baby girl, Mellie, the second they entered the building. Their baby was the newest in the club.

But at any given time, I could find Libby cuddling little Chase or Sugar’s baby, Alexandra. Or helping Valerie with the twins, Izan and Sophia, when Tina was preparing enough egg bake or tater tot hotdish to feed an army of famished Knights.

I hung back for a moment to take in my blonde beauty.

The way the sunbeams hit her hair and her radiant smile made her look ethereal.

She’d grown into a mature, respected Kitten over the past two years.

When most club girls only wanted to party and fuck, Libby had rose above the rest and showed she was so much more than an exceptional lay.

The corner of my mouth twitched as I approached the table. I didn’t like thinking about all my MC brothers who’d been with her. It hadn’t bothered me at first. Hadn’t bothered me for years. She’d given me what I needed just as she’d given the others what they wanted.

But things were different now. I loved Libby and wanted to marry her. Almost losing her last summer messed me up. Life was too short to put stuff off when tomorrow wasn’t promised. If only I could convince Libby to be mine forever.

Thankfully, my brothers respected me and kept their dicks away from my Kitten.

It also helped that most of the Knights were madly in love and married.

Still, a new group of younger men were prospecting, getting patched, and were slowly changing the domestic landscape at the compound. Maddox would be president in a few years, and with his new position would come new members, more parties, and more demands for pussy.

No way in hell would I allow anyone else to touch my woman, so I had to lock her down soon.

“Hey, do you have a minute?” I gave Libby a look that said, we need to talk privately.

“Sure.” She stood and placed the baby in a portable bed beside the table. “Maddy, I need to step out.”

“No problem. Chase will be fine. He sleeps through everything.”

“Not everything .” Storm’s quip was dripping with innuendo as he entered.

He made a beeline for his woman and wrapped her in his embrace.

The way he showed his love for Angel was raw and unapologetic.

I envied Prez and wished I could be like him.

I had a hard time with PDA and showing my real feelings, no thanks to my foster dad.

“We can read between the lines, y’know?” Sugar laughed, her cheeks turning bright red.

Ever since her and Art got together, and they had Alexandra, Sugar had been more sassy and vibrant.

Motherhood and the love of a good man seemed to have awakened a side of her I hadn’t seen since before the OG Prez, Matt’s, passing.

“I’m sure that was his intention.” Maddy stared up at Storm and puckered her lips.

“One day, I’ll interfere with his good time with his girl,” Prez said in a husky voice just before kissing his wife.

I snorted, taking Libby’s elbow. “She’ll be right back to help with supper.” I guided her outside before the old ladies’ giggles and witty banter started. Libby would want to join in and I would never get between her and the other women. They were her tribe and loved her almost as much as me.

“Is something wrong, babe?” She shaded her eyes as the bright July sun hit her face. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky and no humidity. On such a perfect day, we should’ve been hiking or kayaking, instead of at the clubhouse.

“Just need to ask you about something.” I led her to the gazebo, away from curious ears. “I got an email from Toby.”

“Oh?” She sat and didn’t appear surprised when she should be. I hadn’t been quiet about my frustrations with Toby. I’d even asked her a couple of times if she knew if I’d done something to piss him off, and she’d said he hadn’t told her anything.

I tilted my head, squinting. “Did you know he was coming for a visit?”

“Yes,” she answered honestly and scooted next to me, taking my hand.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“He wanted to be the one.”

“So he emails me instead of calling? What the hell is going on with him, Lib? He’s been weird since the last time he was in town.

” It had to be the almost kiss . Maybe I’d had it all wrong and he wasn’t bi-sexual.

Was Toby a homophobe? Weirded out by the almost kiss?

Did he think I was gay? Into him? He’d seen me with Libby all the time so that should have eased his mind.

Had I read him wrong? Probably . I’d never been good with people and missed most social cues. But something deep inside me had made me believe Toby felt more for me than friendship.

“Babe, don’t overreact. Toby’s been figuring stuff out. When he gets here, he’ll explain everything.”

“What is there to explain? Just tell me because I’m confident you know exactly what’s going on.”

“Landon, just wait until Toby gets here, please.” She rubbed the top of my hand as if to pacify me. And calling me Landon wasn’t good. She only did that when she wanted to keep me calm.

“How do I fit into all this?”

Her manicured brows knitted together. “What do you mean?”

“Don’t play me for a fool, Libby.”

“I’d never.”

“Then just be straight with me.” I yanked my hand out of hers. “Tell me what I did wrong.”

She stared at me with so much damn compassion in her eyes, it made me uncomfortable. There wasn’t much in my life that mattered to me, but Libby was everything . My MC brothers mattered, but not more than Libby. And not more than Toby…

Libby stood, hiked up her skirt, and straddled my lap.

“Not now,” I grumbled and turned away from her.

“Look at me.” She took my face in her hands and forced me to turn toward her. “I would never do anything to hurt you. You know that, right?”

“I don’t understand what the big deal is. Why won’t he just come out and say it? And why the hell do you know and not me?” My voice raised when I didn’t mean it to.

“He confided in me, just like you confide in me. I’ve never told a soul your secrets and I won’t tell Toby’s.” And just like that, she put me in my place.

I blew out a frustrated breath and snaked my hands around her waist, tugging her closer to me. “I have one question.”

“I’ll try to answer it.” She softly kissed my lips.

“Are you leaving me for him?”

She reared her head back and gaped. “Is that a serious question?”

“You can tell me the truth, that you want to end things with me and only be with him. Toby doesn’t have to do it for you. You don’t need to be afraid of me. I would never hurt you, Lib.” Emotion caught in my throat and made my eyes wet. “I love you.”

“Damn, that Toby.” She threw herself against my chest, wrapped her arms around my neck, and tightly hugged me. “I told him to let me tell you and not to send that email. He’s such an idiot.”

“Lib, I can’t lose you.” I held her firmly, careful not to squeeze her too tightly. She was my one reason for living. My life. My best friend and lover.

“I can’t lose you either.” She kissed my neck. “I’m not leaving you for Toby. God, my heart would break not being with you.”

“But I know you love him.”

“I love a lot of people and have enjoyed being with many.” Her grip around my neck nearly strangled me. “But nobody matters to me as much as you do.”

“So you do love him?” I’d always suspected she did, but had never heard her admit it.

“Yes. But I also love you.” She pulled back and captured my face in her hands again. Those green eyes of hers glimmered with tears. “Why are you making me weepy?”

“I don’t mean to. You’re one of few people I trust and it feels like you’re hiding something. Like you’re going to betray me. I’ll die if you do.”

“Shh. You won’t die. If you did, I’d die too.”

I pinched her chin and drew her mouth toward mine. “You promise you’re not going to break up with me?”

“Are we actually a couple? Because this is the first I’m hearing of it.” She rocked on my hardening length, a sassy lilt in her voice.

“You’re a naughty girl. It’s not nice to tease a man.”

“Who’s teasing?” She unbuttoned my jeans and tugged down my zipper. Excitement rushed through my veins, and right down to my dick, turning him to steel.

“Really?”

“Unless you don’t want to have me right here and now.” She freed my cock and wrapped her hand around the base, gently pumping it.

“You know I do.” I slipped my fingers under her and fondled her satiny pussy. She rarely wore panties with skirts and dresses—for easy access. She was unapologetic about her ravenous sexual appetite and made sure to take advantage of every opportunity.
