Chapter Seventeen #3

He curled a finger inside me, then another, expertly making me see stars as I came in a wet rush. He fucked me with his fingers while he kept sucking, relentless, cruel almost, but I wanted it. I wanted all of it.

My whole body shook, every nerve ending searing hot and tight, and when I came again, I bit down on my own arm to keep from screaming the whole place down. He only slowed when I started to squirm, over-sensitive, and then he gentled his touch, lapping and soothing until I melted back to earth.

I stared at the ceiling, panting, the world a little off axis. “You’re going to kill me,” I managed, limp and mindless with pleasure.

He grinned up at me, his lips shiny. “No intention of killin’ you, honey. I want nothing for you but pleasure and comfort and to be the happiest woman in the fuckin’ world.”

He crawled up my body, kissing a wet path up my stomach, then my chest, then my throat. When our mouths met, I could taste myself on his tongue and it was the most erotic thing I’d ever experienced.

I reached for his jeans, fumbling with the buttons, impatient and greedy.

He let me, but when I couldn’t manage the zipper with my shaking fingers, he took over, making quick work of them before stripping his boxers off.

He knelt over me, naked and hard and beautiful, and for a second, I swear we just looked at each other.

Like neither of us could quite believe we’d made it to the other side of hell and found this.

I reached for his cock, stroked it, slow and teasing, just to watch him lose his composure for once. He shuddered and let his head fall, forehead pressed to mine. “You want me?” he growled.

I lined him up, angling my hips so he could slip inside me. “Yeah. Fuck, Griffin. I want you so Goddamn bad.”

He pushed in slow, muscle trembling as he tried to hold back.

The stretch of him ripped a gasp out of me, and we both just froze there for a second, savoring the moment, the connection.

He moved with measured thrusts as he found my throat with his mouth, my collarbone, the curve of my shoulder. I dragged my nails down his back.

It built slower this time, a heat that started low in my belly and spread outward with each careful thrust. Griffin slid his hand between us, finding my clit with unerring accuracy, and the dual sensation pushed me toward the edge.

When I came, I screamed his name, my body clamping down around him as pleasure crashed through me in waves. He followed a moment later, his rhythm breaking as he buried his face in my neck with a groan that vibrated through my body with a satisfied rumble.

For a long time afterward, we lay tangled in the dark, my head on his chest, his arm around my shoulders. His heartbeat slowed gradually under my ear, settling into a strong and steady rhythm. I traced the tattoo on his chest with my fingers, needing to touch him.

“I didn’t decide to stay because you saved Tessa,” I said finally, the words coming out softer than I’d meant them to.

Griffin’s hand stroked down my back, warm and sure. “I know, baby.”

“Thank you.”

“You never have to thank me. I’m yours. That means I do everything I have to, to make you happy.”

“Don’t you mean that I’m yours?”

He shrugged. “I hope you’re mine. I Goddamn sure know I’m yours. To me, that’s all that matters. You have me, Veda. Ain’t no one else in the world for me other than you.”

And Griffin lay awake beneath me, his body warm against mine. I’d nearly dozed off when I realized I hadn’t told him the one thing I needed to tell him most.

“Griffin?”

“Yeah, baby?”

“I love you.”

There was a beat of silence and Griffin’s arms tightened around me almost to the point of pain. “Goddamn it, baby.” His voice was a breathy whisper. “I fuckin’ love you, too. With all my Goddamn heart.”

More silence.

“Griffin?”

He cleared his throat. “Yeah, baby.” He cleared his throat again.

“Did I break you?”

A laugh exploded from him and he threw one arm over his eyes, continuing to laugh.

“I’m going to take that as a yes,” I muttered. I still grinned against his chest.

“Yeah, baby. You broke me. Good and proper.”

“You don’t sound like you’re bothered by that fact.”

“Ain’t. I’ll own that shit like a badge of honor.”

Griffin’s laughter subsided, leaving a warm, contented silence between us. He kept me wrapped in his embrace, his touch gentle yet possessive. “You didn’t just break me, Veda. You’re putting me back together in ways I never knew I needed,” he admitted, sincerity pouring from his words.

With a surge of emotion, I leaned up to place a tender kiss on his lips.

I knew that our love was something fierce and unbreakable, a bond that would carry us through any storm.

As we lay entwined in each other’s arms, the room filled with a sense of peace and fulfillment, knowing we’d found something rare and precious in each other.

And as sleep finally claimed us both, I held onto Griffin tightly.

I knew, no matter what challenges lay ahead, we would face them together, unbroken and stronger than ever.
