Go

Gio was a complete psycho.

That nigga was hurt on so many levels and couldn’t stand the fact that he lost the fight.

He was trying so hard to win me over, ordering food he thought I liked, buying movies for us to watch in the hotel room, even letting me close the door sometimes to my room, but none of that shit mattered to me. I wasn’t going to be better until I was back home with Love and Amir.

That nigga pushed a dresser in front of my door that led to the outside, knowing how bad I was trying to leave, making the door to his room the only door to the outside, but again it didn’t matter; I didn’t know where I was.

I stopped counting how many days I was in the room with them niggas. I was getting madder when day two turned into day five, then six.

There was no reasoning with Gio. The only reasonable answer to him was his own. Logic was his enemy.

After a long day of him trying to reminisce with me, trying to get me to recall shit, listening to music we used to sing together, trying to get me to sing with him, he finally fell asleep, and I was left in the other room alone to lay on the bed, watch TV, and imagine how Love was gonna show up for me.

Was my man gonna show up with a gang of niggas and light Gio and his boys up, or would he show up dolo, with a big gun and handle business by himself?

I wrapped my arms around my stomach as I thought about Love, smiling for the first time in days while drifting off to sleep, but that sleep didn’t last long.

I was woken up not by a tap on my foot like how Gio had been doing, but by my back being pushed repeatedly.

I rolled over, ready to go off, but it was Carlos.

He had his finger up to his lips, telling me to be quiet while he pulled me outta bed.

“We gonna help you get outta here,” he said low.

I nodded without asking any more questions. I didn’t care about the rest.

He took me by my hand and led me through the other room, passing Gio asleep on the bed. My eyes didn’t leave him as Carlos led us to the door. Frog was standing there like these niggas had this shit planned out. We stopped at the door, letting the room settle, all looking at him.

“I don’t know where we are…I don’t know how to get home,” I whispered.

“Don’t worry about that, Kev and Joe are in the car waiting to take you to your crib.”

I smiled and gave him a slight hug.

Carlos pulled the door open just as a car drove through the parking lot, blasting music. Carlos tried to hurry and shut the door, but it was too late. When we turned around, Gio was looking straight at us.

I closed my eyes, ready to fall out crying. I was so close to getting away, but didn’t.

“So…what the fuck were y’all niggas doing?” he asked.

Frog and Carlos looked at each other.

“Gio, this shit is wild. I am not trying to catch no damn abduction charges because you are heartbroken,” Frog expressed.

“Yeah, you said she would fix us up. She did,” Carlos added. “Now let her go. She doesn’t want to be with you anymore.”

Gio got out of bed, put his shirt on, and grabbed his gun, making Carlos and Frog pull theirs out. Gio stopped and looked at them with a slight smile on his face.

“Oh, y’all niggas switching up?” he asked.

“No, Gio, somebody here has to think with some sense. You are trippin’ big fuckin’ time,” Carlos expressed.

Gio looked between them, then back at me, raising his gun in my face.

“You asked them to help you get out?”

I shook my head.

“She didn’t. I didn’t like seeing her in this shit, and I wanted to help her get out,” Carlos answered for me.

“Please, Gio,” I said softly. “I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be with you.”

Gio started to pace back and forth, his grip on his gun getting tighter and tighter by the second.

I looked at Frog, and he looked at Carlos; none of us knew how to move with that crazy nigga in front of us.

Suddenly, Gio stopped walking and looked back at me.

“Are you even tryin’ the way that I am tryin’?”

I looked at him, confused.

“What are you talking about, Gio?”

“Are you tryin’ for us the way I am tryin’ for us?”

I shook my head slowly. “No, Gio, I have no intention of trying anything with you. I miss Love, I want to go back to my man.”

I realized what I said after it had already been said, and the look on his face did not say he understood at all.

Gio stared at me like he was staring through me and walked back to the kitchen, grabbing something with a rag.

“Go, go,” Carlos yelled out.

I didn’t know what he had, but I was listening to Carlos.

Frog opened the door, while Carlos moved out of the way for me, and I ran out of the door, but Gio was right behind me.

I felt his arm wrap around my waist, lifting me in the air, pulling me back inside while I screamed for help, screamed out Love’s name, praying to God it was somebody around that heard me and would tell him they heard somebody scream his name when a white rag was placed in front of my face, and everything started to slow down for me.

We were back inside the room; my legs weren’t kicking at the speed that they were seconds ago, my hands wouldn’t form a strong fist, and I couldn’t talk.

Gio tossed me on the bed in my room and walked away, leaving me there to deal with whatever he had given me, making me worry about my baby. It gave me flashbacks of when I was taken and how my motor skills were off.

I tried to sit up, but nothing was working for me. All I could do was lay there and listen to Carlos and Frog argue back and forth with Gio.

“Why the fuck you do that shit again?” Frog yelled at him.

“Don’t worry about what the fuck I am doing, worry about packing this room up.”

Gio then hopped on the phone.

“Aye, we finna get outta here; she’s trying to run back.”

Whoever Gio was talking to was making that nigga laugh and smile. They talked for a few minutes, and he never said any names but looked in my direction a few times. Once he hung up, Kev and Joe walked into the room, looking confused.

“What the fuck is going on?” Kev asked.

“Pack up,” Gio said, moving around. “We are going back to Cali.”

All them niggas stopped and looked at me lying in the other room on the bed with no movement but my chest rising up and down.

“With her?” Carlos added.

“Hell yeah, I am taking Islah with me.”

Carlos, Kev, Frog, and Joe walked around shaking their heads while I lay there lifeless. But on the inside, I was screaming no, trying to talk to my body to move a toe, a leg, a finger, something, but instead of that working, I passed out.
