Chapter 6

A week passed, and I really saw that my mother was not going to take back her words. Not at all what I expected. Fortunately, I saved all the money I earned in the summer when I worked several shifts as a waitress and didn't spend it, but who knows how long it will last.

"Just apologise," says Sebastian and puts more crisps in his mouth.

"Don't be ridiculous."

"Oh, yeah, our Amelia never apologises to anyone." He sips a coke. "It can't go on like this, mom is going crazy, why are you doing this to her?"

"It's annoying. I am not five years old, I can't fulfil all her whims."

"Studying and not ruining yourself, do you think it's whims?"

I'm ready to argue with my brother again, when the door opens and bodies pour into the room. Well. Saturday night all my friends usually spent in clubs, and Sebastian and I watch movies.

My brother probably shouldn't be proud of the fact that at the age of twenty-six he's babysitting his younger sister, but that's why I love him.

"Hi," Yara smiles, most likely at Sebastian, because she gives him a silly look and waves her hand stupidly. "How are you?" She straightens her already seemingly impossible large cutout, showing her chest while falling onto the bed.

Unfortunately, she didn't take into account that the black leather skirt was too short, and the black tights didn't cover… everything that was supposed to cover.

I turn away and Sebastian laughs softly.

"Where are the others? " I asked.

"They are coming, and we will have a party. "

I lean against the wall again, hitting my head and closing my eyes. The only thing we’re missing is a party here. Not only was I left without money, but I will also be left without a roof over my head.

"Hi," Lily comes in with some guy, he hugs her by the waist and whispers something in her ear.

"Ami, look who’s here." Now Adele's drunken body falls, which is barely held by someone's strong male hand. Her black hair falls to her shoulders, and her blue eyes sparkle with alcohol. Adele is one of the most beautiful girls I have ever met. Even Naomi Campbell would envy her long legs.

I don't look up, but I feel someone staring at me, as if ready to drill a hole in my head.

I shift my eyes to him…

Shit, but where did they find him?

Prince Charming in the flesh. He continues to stare at me, and I turn my head away.

I can't help but notice that compared to the other boys, he is dressed, surprisingly, with taste. He is wearing dark pants and a light brown cotton shirt with several white buttons, the top of which is unbuttoned. As if he came, not from a club, but from an elite party of high society.

Today, his look isn’t at all similar to the one I saw a week ago. It's like he's trying to kill me with it or burn me to the ground. I raise my eyebrows, asking "what's the matter?", but he just smiles out of the corner of his mouth, and Adele snuggles closer to him.

Standing near him, she looks like an invisible insect. I think he thinks so too because he doesn't hug her back.

And although, his friends, it is hard not to admit, they are hot as hell, but immediately clear that he is the main one in their company.

Yes, I'm not arguing, he is tall, and his physique would even make Chris Hemsworth envious, but this doesn't mean anything.

"And what the hell is going on here?" I'm not trying to be polite.

Shove your politeness up my ass, this is my room and I hate it when anyone and I mean anyone is in there.

Two years ago, we established several rules with Lily, one of them:

"No parties in our room."

Despite the fact that I hardly remember the first year, the girls and I had a lot of fun. But it was everywhere except our room.

Lily is a good girl, she almost never drinks or goes to clubs, she studies hard, she comes home with a guy from time to time, it's not surprising, everyone likes her "innocent" appearance. To some extent, she looks like a Disney princess to me. She has long light blond hair, red plump lips and grey eyes with long eyelashes. But most of the time she behaves well.

The door opens again, and two more guys come in, although it's hard to call it "coming in" because one of them falls to the ground and hits hard. How much did you have to drink to be unable to stand on your feet?

The other one, the one with the light blond hair, who flops on my bed and looks at me like I'm the single most interesting thing in the whole world.

"Are you crazy?" I almost scream.

"KJ, behave politely around the girls."

His voice is raspy but quiet, and it gives you goosebumps. It seems that when he speaks, there is a dead silence and everyone tries to find out who this voice belongs to.

"I think it's time to go," Sebastian gets up, and I look at him imploringly.

He can't leave me with a bunch of drunken bastards.

"You can stay with me today," Sebastian offers, and I jump up as if a new car is waiting for me outside.

"Wait, it's Saturday evening, let's sit and have a high brow conversation" says Yara and looks at Sebastian again. I wonder if she even knows that I'm here too.

Although I think she has no chance. Sebastian likes tall girls with blonde hair and blue eyes. Yara is a short girl with brown eyes and dark hair. Most guys like her, but not my brother.

"Sure, a high brow conversation, the highest strata of society, the intelligentsia, gathered here. Shall we talk about the development of Ukrainian literature or discuss some other topic? " I smiled.

My brother turns to me, a wordless dialogue begins between us. We always understood each other by facial expressions alone.

My expression, something like a murderous look, arms crossed over my chest, clenched teeth and red cheeks, says either we get out of here or I kill each one in turn.

Sebastian, whose smile is already spreading on his face, his eyes are shining and his hands are in his pockets, says that if we stay for a short time, then nothing bad will happen.

I sigh loudly.

"Okay, but only for a short time."

Sebastian winks at me and I return to the bed. On which, by the way, this blond is already sleeping.

Well, what kind of life is this.

"We have beer, cards and popcorn," says Adele.

"A wonderful set," I smiled cheerfully, and everyone takes their seats.

Sebastian pulls the drunk blond's body back a little and sits on my bed. Lily and a guy who, I can't help noticing, have very handsome features and dark brown hair, sit on her bed, Prince Charming next to them, and Adele almost hanging on him. Vomit begins to approach my throat.

Yara sits down on a chair, and the alcoholic who has just been laying by our door finally gets up and sits down on a chair.

"Let's get to know each other first." Lily laughs.

But how much did they drink today?

She begins to introduce me and Sebastian to "our new friends."

The guy with Lily is Arthur, although he prefers to be called Archie. Okay, so you'll be Arthur. The blond snoring wildly on my bed is KJ. Fuck you KJ.

The one who is about to fall off the chair is Nazar. And, our Prince Charming is Danylo.

Danylo Bondar.

"And this is Amelia and her brother Sebastian," Lily points to us.

I, unlike my brother, don't pretend that I am pleasantly surprised by a new acquaintance, but it is what it is.

"What are we going to do?" says Yara at the moment when Danylo whispers something in Adele's ear and she laughs.

His head is down on her shoulder, and his arm is wrapped around her waist, and although I know that Adele is in such a close "relationship" with every other person, but right now it somehow annoys me wildly.

Why did they come here?

"Never have I ever," blurts out the drunk blond and sits down next to me. I mean KJ, who doesn't seem so drunk anymore.

Five minutes of sleep did him good. Now, I feel that he even smells good, if you don't mind the heavy smell of alcohol. The white t-shirt is almost tight, although I think it was designed so that everyone could see his toned muscles.

Everyone agrees to this game, and Lily gives everyone a can of beer.

"I don't drink," I shake my head.

And I hear a laugh. And how dare he mock me?

I shift my gaze to Prince Charming and wildly regret not having the ability to kill people without touching.

"Miss good girl," he says quietly.

"Oh," shouts my brother. "Is about to begin…"

But I am silent, leaning on my hands, and now a smirk appears on my face. He attacked the wrong one.

I open a can of beer and we start playing.

Fortunately, they bought cherry flavoured cider, I can't stand beer.

"I'll go first," Adele raises her hand. "Never have I ever kissed a teacher. "

No one takes a sip, but then the can rises in Yara's hands and she takes a sip. And behind her is Lily.

I just smile.

"Never have I ever slept with a whore," again this voice that fills every millimetre with the room and echoes somewhere deep in my stomach.

I grit my teeth. It's strange that he didn't sleep with a whore, I thought he was only with such ones.

"You know, dude," Arthur laughs and drinks from the can.

I think he's the only one, but the next one to take a sip… "Sebastian," I shout and hit him on the leg.

"It was only once, I was sixteen," he excuses himself.

I want to forget it immediately.

Arthur's next turn:

"Never have I ever had problem with the law."

KJ is the first to take a sip, followed by Danylo, looking straight into my eyes. He holds the can to his mouth for a moment, then puts it back and licks his lips. Does he think that attracts girls?

And what does it even mean? Why did Danylo and KJ have problems with the law?

Next is KJ's turn.

"Never have I ever slept with a woman older than me." After these words, he begins to laugh and stare at Danylo.

He knew exactly what he wanted to say.

Danylo takes a sip, and now my stomach twists even harder. But what is wrong with this guy?

When it's my turn, I'm silent, no thoughts enter my head.

"Never have I ever smoked," I finally say.

And everyone drinks, except for Sebastian and Danylo. I want to scream so that he will finally stop staring at me, but I remain silent.

"Never have I ever had a serious relationship," Sebastian says.

It is surprising that in his years he never had something serious.

Lily, Yara, Danylo and finally me take a sip. Although it must have been the most horrible sip of the whole round, it burns my throat as I think of it again…

"Never have I ever had sex in a car," says Yara quickly.

I'm blushing. So why do I have to play this stupid game with my brother?!

Danylo looks up at me and smiles, but notice that he is sipping beer. I also take a sip. He curls his lips into an "O" sign, and I squeeze my drink, restraining myself from throwing something heavy at him.

"I think now it's definitely time for us to go," I look at Sebastian, but he doesn't notice me, is he really interested in these children's games?

"Is it time for someone to go to bed? I could put you in," KJ leans towards me, but I push him away.

I could take you down, idiot, but I have no desire.

I take the phone in my hands and leave the room.

"I'm going for a walk, if you're interested," I say to Sebastian, who nods in response.

Thank you, brother.

Although the prospect of walking alone at night doesn't please me, but I don't want to stay in that room.

"I wish you were here," I go down the corridor along the wall and cover myself with my hands.

"I am here," someone's voice is heard.

I look up. Well, no, just not you.

"What do you want? "

"I thought that it was dangerous for a girl to walk this late in a night." "Are you worried?" I laugh.

"About you?" Danylo shook his head. "Absolutely not," and smiled.

The bottom of my stomach twists again.

"Then what do you need, Bondar?"

"I need you to be safe and I’m going to take care of it."

"Fuck off."

"Where were you taught such manners? "

"In a boarding school for young ladies. Every Monday we read prayers, and every Friday we took an etiquette exam. I was the best student."

"I see, you were also taught sarcasm there," he tilts his head to the side. "Young lady."

"No, I was born with sarcasm. Amelia Sarcasm Melnyk, pleasure to meet you."

Danylo laughs. I hear his laugh for the first time. It’s deep and sincere. This also makes me want to smile.

"Why didn't you stay to play?"

"Because I am not interested in kid's games."

Danylo sits down next to me. I can smell his perfume and feel the warmth of his body.

"So, what are you interested in?"

"Sacrifice. By the way, we did this on Saturday evenings."

"So I won't expect a normal answer from you, right?" his smile spreads across his face.

Am I entertaining him?

"You don't even have to try, I'm not going to sleep with you."

"You already said that."

"I see it's hard for you to understand."

"Even so, why do you hate me?"

"There's no reason. I just hate you."

"There must be something, darling."

I look at him: "I don't like your hair."

"Okay, I can live with that. What else?"

"Your voice."

"Oh, my voice? What exactly don't you like about it?" he says slowly, leaning his face towards me.

I start to breathe heavily.

"I don't like your lips."

"No one has ever complained about what I do with them, darling."

I stop breathing. Bondar's face is as dangerously close to mine as possible. One move, one second, and I'll be destroyed. Ruined. By his lips. By his kisses. By him.

"What else, Amelia?" he asks quietly and slowly, looking me straight in the eyes. "What else don't you like about me?"

Everything. I don't like anything about him. His eyes. His hands. His words. Him.

Absolutely.

Don’t.

Like.

"We can't..." I say breathing heavily.

"What exactly can't we do?"

"I'll never kiss you. You can't be this close to me. You can't say all those words."

"One kiss won't destroy anyone, Amelia."

It will.

It will destroy me, because I know that one kiss won't be enough. Not with him. Not with Danylo Bondar.

With such men, you want either everything or nothing.

And they always take everything from you, leaving you with nothing.

I finally tear myself away from him and get up from the ground, not looking at Bondar anymore, I walk away.

Not thinking about him at all.

About his lips...

About his eyes.

About what would have happened if I had let him kiss me.
