Chapter 20

A Promise for the Future

The city skyline glimmered as Holly Mason stepped off the train, Lucas Harper by her side. The winter magic of Maplewood was behind them, but the warmth they had shared there stayed firmly in their hearts.

“This week has been… incredible,” Holly said softly, glancing at him.

Lucas smiled, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. “It’s only the beginning,” he replied. “Maplewood gave us memories, yes, but it also gave us something real — and that doesn’t have to end because we’re back here.”

Holly nodded, feeling a flutter in her chest. “I want that, Lucas. I want us — here, there, everywhere.”

He took her hands, holding them firmly. “Then let’s make it official. Not with a ring yet, but a promise. No matter the distance, the work, or life getting busy… we choose each other. Every day.”

Holly’s eyes sparkled with emotion. “Every day,” she echoed.

They shared a long, warm embrace, the city bustling around them, but the world felt small and intimate — theirs alone. The snow and lights of Maplewood might have been magical, but the love they carried into their real lives was even stronger.

As they walked down the city streets, hand in hand, Holly realized something vital: love wasn’t just found in holidays or snowy towns. Love was built in small gestures, in choosing each other every day, in laughter, in shared struggles, and in quiet moments like this.

And with Lucas by her side, Holly knew that whatever the future held, they would face it together — not just as a holiday romance, but as a real, enduring love story.

The snow might have melted, the festival might have ended, but for Holly and Lucas, the magic was just beginning.
