Chapter 20
Winter Forever
The morning sun barely broke through the thick clouds, and Willow Creek was blanketed in fresh, untouched snow. Emma peeked out her window and saw the world transformed into a sparkling winter wonderland. She smiled, thinking of Lucas waiting outside with his usual grin and a thermos of hot cocoa.
When she stepped outside, he was already there, bundled in layers, snowflakes dusting his hair. “Morning, sleepyhead,” he greeted, holding out a cup.
Emma laughed, taking it. “Morning, troublemaker.”
They spent the day wandering the snow-covered streets, building a small snowman, and teasing each other relentlessly about snowball fights. Laughter echoed through the quiet town, the cold forgotten in the warmth of shared moments.
As evening fell, they found themselves back at Lucas’s apartment. The fire crackled, casting a soft glow on their faces. Emma curled up next to him, resting her head on his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
“Emma,” Lucas murmured, brushing her hair from her face, “this winter… this season… it’s been the best of my life. All because of you.”
Emma lifted her gaze, eyes shining. “Lucas… I feel the same. You’ve made everything brighter. Every little moment has felt magical because we shared it.”
He smiled, pulling her close for a lingering kiss. “So… what do you say we make a promise? To always find magic together… through snowstorms, mishaps, festivals, and everything else?”
Emma grinned, her heart full. “I promise. Winter forever… with you.”
Outside, the snow fell gently, covering the town in a peaceful hush.
Inside, warmth, laughter, and love filled every corner.
Emma and Lucas sat together, hands intertwined, hearts entwined, knowing that this was just the beginning of countless winters, adventures, and quiet, perfect moments together.
And for the first time, Emma truly believed that love—messy, playful, tender, and magical—was exactly what she had been waiting for all along.
