Chapter 1

Summer in Bloom

The Café Encounter

Clara Bennett had always loved summer mornings—the way the sunlight spilled across cobblestone streets, the scent of fresh flowers drifting from the market stalls, and the quiet hum of the little town coming to life.

Today, she found herself at The Blossom Café, her favorite spot for an iced latte and a corner seat by the window.

As she settled in with her notebook, trying to finish a piece for her travel blog, the bell above the door jingled.

A man stepped in, tall, effortlessly stylish in a linen shirt and worn jeans.

His sandy blond hair caught the morning light, and his green eyes scanned the café before landing on the empty chair across from her.

“Excuse me,” he said politely. “Is this seat taken?”

Clara looked up, startled. “Oh—uh, no. Please, go ahead.”

He smiled warmly and sat down, setting a small sketchbook on the table. “Thanks. I’m Liam, by the way. Just moved here for the summer.”

Clara introduced herself, feeling an unexpected flutter in her chest. Over the next few minutes, they exchanged small talk—about the café, the town, and their shared love of art. Liam doodled absentmindedly in his sketchbook, occasionally glancing up to make her laugh with his witty remarks.

By the time she finished her latte, Clara realized she hadn’t felt this easy around anyone in a long while. Liam’s presence was like a gentle breeze—comforting, refreshing, and impossible to ignore.

As he stood to leave, he looked at her with a teasing smile. “Maybe I’ll see you here again tomorrow? I’d love to continue our… café collaboration.”

Clara’s cheeks warmed. “I’d like that.”

And just like that, a simple summer morning had turned into the beginning of something unexpected—something that promised warmth, laughter, and perhaps a love that could bloom as brightly as the season itself.
