Party
Amity
L ana and Blake out did themselves with the transformation of the ranch’s eatery. Floor to ceiling vines of greenery and flowers. Long large clear pipes full of water immersed with petals floating inside. Tables covered in white and blue flower arrangements mixed in with horseshoes and cowboy hats. He somehow even hired my favorite BBQ restaurant all the way from Clute to cater. DJ’s Bar-B-Que. I’m already eyeing out the best chopped brisket sandwich I have ever tasted drenched in spicy BBQ sauce and pickles. If only I could get over there, but Blake has me shaking hands with colleagues and distant relatives.
Does he not know I have barely eaten today ?
Ten minutes later, I’m able to slip from his grip, mingle with a few of my own colleagues and friends, then grab a sandwich. “You could have just asked, and I would have had food brought to you?” his rough voice slips through my ear.
“You seemed busy,” I retort, shrugging my shoulders, knowing he hates when I go all independent with my carefree attitude towards him. I hear a slight growl escape his lips.
“Never too busy to take care of you,” he murmurs, kissing me on the temple, then stealing a bite on my sandwich.
“Bro, I need you to step away, before you get hurt. That was an illegal move.” Blake laughs and tries to come in for another bite, only for me to shove the rest of the half sandwich in my mouth.
“I swear you are the classiest woman I know.” I scrunch my nose and wink, due to my mouth full of brisket. “Keep making faces and see how many spankings you earn with my belt later.” I finally swallow my food, stick my tongue out, and move quickly from his grasp to find my parents. Never looking back but knowing the Cheshire grin is spread wide across his face.
We finally get through all the toasts, the first dance, and dancing with our parents and friends, and finally, it’s cake time. The wedding cake is five tiers alternating between chocolate and spice cake. It’s lightly iced in a cream-colored buttercream to give it a semi-naked look, as Blake calls it. With a gold dusting to match the gold cursive H on the top tier. I love how it’s rustic and classy. Then I see Blake pushing out a cart which I assume is his groom-cake, and I am bouncing on my heels in anticipation to see what he ends up doing. He unveils the first half, and I am speechless. No, it is not a dying armadillo cake but a huge cake version of Jetson the longhorn. Those of us there that day, and Willa’s family are dying laughing. I shake my head at Blake, trying to catch my breath.
“What? You wouldn’t let me send him to the slaughterhouse, so I figured cutting into a cake version was the next best thing.” I place my hands on his face and pull him down to kiss softly on the lips.
“I love you Blake Holdings. Thank you for never a dull moment.”
He winks. “Wait, I have one more surprise for you.” Pulling back another cloth, I am welcomed with the site of a Shipley's donut tower. I gasp and jump into Blake's arms.
“I am totally eating these off your dick tonight and licking the icing off your body.”
He drags his hand down his face. “Fuck me. We are having these damn things delivered every morning and night,” he growls, leaning in for another kiss.
“Is it time to escape yet?”
“Almost. One more dance and drink with friends, and then we will disappear,” he says before heading off to find Lana. When I peek down at my phone for the first time all night, I’m shocked that it’s closing in on midnight. We also have a four a.m. flight to catch in the morning. Might as well keep on partying at this rate.
For a whole ‘nother hour, we dance, drink, and sing until Lana sends everyone outside, and before we know it, Blake and I are runnin’ through an aisle lined with our loved ones and sparklers. He stops at the end, dipping me for a kiss and holding me there, gazing into my eyes. His baby blues are full of lust.
Before jumping in the car, we say goodbye to our parents, thanking them again for everything, and Willa’s parents for hosting this huge shindig. I give my girls the tightest hugs, knowing it will be a few weeks before I see them again, but I know we will chat every day. Blake does the same with his brothers. Deddy even kept Nevada out so I can hug him goodbye and tell him to behave while I’m gone. Hamlet is already in the car ready to go. We decided to bring him the big goof with us this time, since we missed him so much in Costa Rica. Once all loaded, we head straight to the airport to board the Holdings private jet.
And then we are off on our next adventure.
