Epilogue

Amity

Six months later…

L ife has been overwhelming to say the least, but I would not trade it for a minute. Once we arrived home from our honeymoon to bring in the New Year with our families and friends, Blake and I hit the ground running in January. My apartment sold, and then Blake and I purchased some land about two miles from my folks and five miles from Willa and Nash. I give my suggestions, I discuss colors, lighting and flooring with Blake when asked, but I basically handed the reins over to him once we picked out the house plans. The drive only adds an extra fifteen minutes for the both of us to work so we are excited to start this new adventure in several months once we can move in. Until then, we are living at Blake's place. I know Hamlet will be excited once we move out there to have space to run and roam. I’m still debating whether to move Nevada and get him a companion or leave him at the ranch.

Willa and I have been killing it at rodeos with our horses, and right now, our team is ranked number one in the state for ropin’. Nevada is holding third place in the state for reining, and we head to Tennessee in a month for another show. On top of that, I’m back to teaching at the college and still helping at the Crenshaw Ranch a few days a month. Luckily, their slow season falls during Willa and I’s busiest season. She teaches also and has her own high school rodeo team she coaches on top of holding her own rodeo titles. I’ve been offered the chance to sing the National Anthem at several events coming up this year so that is something new and exciting. And we try to make it over to Paramour at least one Thursday a month to unwind. I’m happy Blake is working back home with little travel right now, but Willa and I can tell the pressure of Clint not being on site and in Brazil puts on our men. But like always, they will persevere and be more of a force once they control the South America market in oil.

I eavesdropped in the barn last weekend when I heard Tilly and Dirks discussing something serious. I hid for a few minutes to try to figure out what was going on, but then Tilly rushed past me in tears. Still haven’t been able to get her to spill the tea. She says she is fine, but she’s definitely more on edge these days. Lana seems to be much happier since the wedding. Almost like she found her backbone again and is dabbling in wedding planning on the side of her full-time vet tech career.

Tonight, the girls and I, plus Nash and Blake, are meeting for dinner at Panchito’s. Willa stated she had an announcement, and little do they know, Blake and I do too. Once we all arrived and settled with our bowls of guac and chips, chatting and catching up, Willa looks over to us from the end of the table and says, “Y’all! You won’t believe who’s pregnant?”

Everyone goes silent in anticipation. I turn to Blake with my accusing eyebrow raised, then look back to Willa. “Who told you?”

She looks at me confused. “Wait, what? I was announcing that Nash and I are having a baby.” No one moves with the announcement.

“Hell fire,” I say, laughing.

“Holy Hades, shit a brick now, Amity, you too?” I nod, and then everyone screams with excitement over the two of us. Then Lana stands up and announces she is taking a solo trip to South America for the next year for work.

“What?” we all say in unison, leaving us all in shock.

Stay tuned for Lana’s Story…
