Chapter 8 The Question

I jolted awake from the nightmare and rolled onto Xie Siyuan.

He was half-asleep, hand automatically settling on my waist.

He frowned, voice helpless. “Again?”

The dream version and real version overlapped.

It hurt so much.

I stared down at him.

This man lying under me right now—would he really abandon me when I was being violated?

My heart twisted painfully.

Shen Tingwan, come on, what were you even expecting?

Xie Siyuan already hates you. He only married you because you were useful.

Bet the second you mention divorce, he’ll be waiting at the Civil Affairs Bureau.

He wouldn’t even glance back—just cut you off clean.

“Shen Tingwan…”

Xie Siyuan’s voice was hoarse, eyes still sleepy from just waking up.

My mind blanked. I leaned down and asked him: “Xie Siyuan, do you love me?”

He froze.

Eyes closed.

Then he smiled and said the words I hated most: “I could never fall in love with you in this lifetime.”

Exactly as expected.

If it were the old me, I wouldn’t have cared at all.

I would’ve bitten his lip hard and forced him to at least pretend he loved me.

But for some reason, remembering how in the dream he ignored me while I was ruined—

I suddenly had nothing left to say.

I slid off him, wrapped myself in the blanket, and turned my back.

But I still felt so cold.

“Xie Siyuan, get out!”

The next second he forcibly turned my shoulders and pulled me into his arms.

His body was burning hot.

Warmth flooded through me instantly.

Xie Siyuan lowered his head and rubbed his nose against mine. “Not satisfied last night?

Want me to make it up to you?”

Then a scorching kiss landed.

In a daze, I heard him murmur:

“I remember—you saying ‘get out’ means you want me to take the initiative and kiss you.

Two times enough?”
