Chapter 7 Not a Dream
When I woke up, my head throbbed painfully. Scenes of seeing Chi Wen last night flashed through my mind.
I sighed. I must have missed him way too much.
Not only did I dream of him, I even dreamed I was pinching and poking him like he was some obedient pet.
I was still wearing yesterday’s clothes, so I got up, washed up, and changed.
I was about to go next door to check on Su Qi when I pushed the door open—and froze.
Two people from my “dream” last night were sitting on the sofa.
Gu Shang sat ramrod straight, laptop open, apparently working. He glanced up briefly and gave me an expressionless nod.
I returned a stiff nod, then rigidly shifted my gaze to the person beside him.
Chi Wen tilted his head. “Morning.”
I: “…”
Not a dream.
Gu Shang carrying Su Qi away wasn’t a dream. Me touching Chi Wen’s face wasn’t a dream. Me grinning stupidly at Chi Wen wasn’t a dream.
In that moment I really wanted to bolt to the balcony and dive into the sea.
Su Qi! Come out quick!
I can’t handle this alone!
In over twenty years of life, I had never needed Su Qi this badly.
If we’re gonna die, let’s die together, Su Qi!
Maybe it was some sibling telepathy. Right when I was screaming for Su Qi in my heart, the door to the next room opened.
Su Qi walked out with bedhead like a bird’s nest. “Xixi, you didn’t add that handsome guy’s contact yesterday? He messaged me asking for your number. I already sent him your card, okay?”
I felt a laser beam shoot from Chi Wen’s direction. I didn’t dare look. I just frantically signaled Su Qi: “No no no no no…”
Su Qi was glued to his phone, completely ignoring me. “Don’t be so resistant! I think he’s really great. If he weren’t straight, I would’ve taken him myself haha!”
Great.
Now there were two laser beams.
Enduring the double death stares from Chi Wen and Gu Shang, I coughed hard.
“Fine fine fine, if you don’t want him then don’t. Makes sense—your big handsome brother is right here. It’s normal you wouldn’t look at anyone else. Or hey, why don’t we siblings just make do with each other haha haha!”
I closed my eyes in despair.
If stupidity were a disease, Su Qi would be beyond saving.
Su Qi “haha”ed for a full minute before stopping.
His voice finally turned stiff. “Sis… am I still drunk? Am I hallucinating?”
I gave him a dead-inside smile. “Of course. When death is knocking, hallucinations are perfectly normal.”
Su Qi: “…”
