Chapter 42
W hen she walked out of the bathroom, Spencer immediately wrapped his arm around her while Rock walked behind them.
She turned back to look at him. “Why don’t you walk up here?”
He shook his head.
How did she make him realize that he wasn’t her bodyguard?. Sometimes she worried he thought that he wasn’t on an equal level to Spencer and Slade.
Slade was up ahead, talking to an attractive man dressed in all black. He held out his hand to her and she moved forward, slipping her hand into his.
“Well, hello,” the guy said.
“Indie, this is Alaistair. We went to school and university together and he often monitors in here.”
Alaistair stared at her strangely. “We’ve actually met before.”
“Oh, we have? I’m sorry. I don’t remember.” Although there was something oddly familiar about him.
He frowned slightly, then smiled again. “It was a long time ago.”
The way he eyed her was a bit strange. Was he thinking about how she was technically Slade’s stepsister? Or the fact she was with three men?
“Don’t worry about being seen with these three. You’re not the first poly relationship we’ve had at the club. There’re several threesomes here in committed relationships.”
Oh, maybe she misjudged that look.
“We’re not poly,” Spencer said cheerfully. “We’re a reverse harem.”
“Reverse harem?” Alaistair raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah. I’m gonna get a T-shirt explaining it,” Spencer said. “How about I’m in love with a girl but not her two boyfriends? Does that work?”
She sucked in a breath. Did he just say love? Was this seriously the way he was going to tell her that he loved her?
“Jeez, Spence,” Slade groaned.
“What? What’s wrong? You don’t like that explanation?” Spencer asked.
“You love me?” she whispered.
“Uh, yeah. Did you not know that?” Spencer asked.
“Had you told her?” Alaistair asked dryly.
Spencer looked appalled. “Oh, God, Princess. I’m sorry. I just announced that to everyone without telling you first. I just . . . I guess I’ve felt this way for so long that I thought you knew.”
He looked horrified, but she didn’t care. She simply threw herself at him, ignoring the shouts of protest from around her. Yeah, it hurt slightly and she couldn’t hug him that well with her belly. But she didn’t care.
He loved her.
“I love you too, Spencer, so much.” He drew her up into his arms and she held onto him tight. He murmured words of love into her neck as he rocked her gently back and forth.
Then he set her down, cupping her face between his hands so he could kiss her deeply.
“Let’s go home, yeah?” he said.
She nodded. Yes. Time for them to make her theirs. Indie couldn’t remember if she said goodbye to Alaistair, but she saw Margo and Lemon waving at her.
“I’ll get your number and call you,” Margo yelled out across the floor, making Slade sigh. “We’ll do lunch?”
“She desperately needs someone to take her in hand,” Slade grumbled. “Pete is not that someone.”
She thought Margo seemed perfect just as she was.
Spencer belted her into their car and as they drove home, he held her hand the entire way.
Anticipation pumped through her as they headed up the elevator and into the apartment. She loved this place now. The bad memories had been replaced with good and it felt so warm and inviting.
Bollocks, she just remembered that she hadn’t shaved her legs. She’d only tried once since she’d come from the hospital and it hadn’t been easy or fun.
“I’ve got to go to the bathroom first,” she said, moving as quickly as she could down the hallway.
“Good idea,” Spencer said. “Time to head to bed.”
Uh-huh.
Exactly.
She did her best with her legs. Shaving her pussy was also a bit of a struggle with her growing belly. But she did what she could, then brushed her teeth and took off her makeup.
When she walked into her bedroom wrapped in just a towel, she found that Spencer was the only one in the bed.
Oh.
For some reason she’d had thoughts of the three of them . . . but maybe each of them wanted to be with her alone.
That made sense. And having Spencer to herself meant she could show him the photo. Instead of moving to the bed, she headed into the wardrobe and looked through her nighties.
Why didn’t she have a sexy nightgown to wear?
Something lacy and see-through and pretty.
Urgh .
She pulled on a pale pink nightie and grabbed the photo from the backpack.
Did she have a sexy walk? Maybe. She walked slowly to the bed, trying to move her hips.
Spencer glanced over at her and smiled. “Pregnancy waddle? That’s so cute! I thought that came later once you were bigger.”
Bollocks.
Here she was, trying to be sexy and he thought she was waddling like a duck.
So that was a fail.
With a sigh, she set the photo down on the nightstand then climbed into bed, kneeling with her legs parted. All right, she felt like a bit of an idiot, but he must be getting the hints she was throwing down, right?
“Come here, Princess. That can’t be very comfortable.” He patted the mattress next to him.
Should have gone without panties.
Spencer was being obtuse.
Hmm. What if she pulled her nightie down and showed him her boobs? Was that too obvious?
“I’ve got an itch I need scratched,” she said.
“Where is it, Princess? Your leg? Your back?”
Urgh. Okay, one of them was terrible at this.
She had a thought that it might be her.
“Um, no, it’s higher than my leg,” she said, using her most suggestive voice.
“Oh, your tummy.” He drew her down onto her side and started to itch her belly. “Have you got a sore throat, Princess? You sound kind of raspy.”
Heck.
Yep. It was official.
She really did suck at this.
“I’m going to go and make you a lemon and honey drink,” Spencer said, jumping out of bed before she could explain that she was fine .
She was just really, really bad at seduction.
Urgh.
Maybe she should give up and try another night.
Rolling over, she grabbed the photo off the nightstand. “I have something to show you.”
“What is it?” he asked.
She handed it to him. He was silent for so long that she thought she’d done the wrong thing. Then he turned to her. “You kept this all these years?”
Indie nodded. “It’s one of my happiest memories and when I was feeling down, I’d get it out and look at it. I kept some things from the other guys too. Surrounding myself in things that reminded me of all of you made me feel less alone.”
He drew her close, hugging her tight. “I love you, Princess. And you’ll never need reminders of us again. Because we’ll always be here for you.”
