Chapter 26 Crossroads

I moved out of Shen Yizheng’s house that same day.

Surprisingly, I didn’t have much.

Just some clothes and toiletries.

I stood at the crossroads, not knowing where to go.

I had no parents. I was abandoned at an orphanage gate as a baby.

The only reason I could leave that small town and come to this big city was because someone had sponsored my education.

I pulled out a cigarette from my pocket, put it between my lips, and stared into the distance.

A soft “click” sounded.

A cluster of flame entered my sight. Someone lit my cigarette.

I followed the pale, slender fingers upward and saw it was Lanxi.

“Why are you here?”

I was genuinely surprised.

“Shen Yizheng called me.” Lanxi smiled gently. The breeze lifted her long dress. “He said you two broke up, so I came right away.”

“I see.”

I took a deep drag of the cigarette and narrowed my eyes. “He probably wants you to comfort him.”

“Probably.” Lanxi nodded lightly. “But that’s not why I came.”

“Then why?”

Our eyes met. I guessed what she meant.

“I want you to come home with me.”
