Chapter 3
Zachary’s POV
A sudden knock on the door startled me from my hustling work.
After I permitted, Michelle entered my office.
She was wearing a black body-tight jumpsuit that hugged her slender body in all the right places.
She had applied slight makeup, bright red lipstick and tied her hair into a sleek ponytail.
She looked like a model in every sense possible.
“Hi Zach, care to spare me a few minutes?” Michelle asked shyly.
“Hey Michelle, of course. Take a seat” I answered.
“I was wondering if you could join me for dinner before I go on for world tour?” she said.
She asked me to mark her as my luna this year. But I managed to convince her for giving me a little more time, a year or two to persuade my wolf. In truth I myself need more time to make this decision. So she is going for a world tour with her girl gang for a year or so.
“No way, bitch” Aiden said in a grumpy tone. I shushed him and replied, “Hmm, yeah sure, I will check my schedule and text you the time and place”
“Yay!!” Michelle beamed with joy.
“I will leave you to your work now. See you soon Alpha and don’t forget the red roses” she chimed. With that, she got up, kissed me on the cheek and left.
“I’m going nowhere with her. I don’t like this she-wolf at all” Aiden retorted. I sighed in response.
Around 10 PM, Mason entered my office. With a curt nod, he said in a single breath, “Hey dude, remember Sam is throwing his brother’s graduation party at Club Hilton? We have to be there before 12 and for that to happen, we need to leave within the next 15 minutes”
I chuckled at my beta and best friend’s enthusiasm.
Mason is 25, is second in command for my pack and like a brother to me.
We are childhood friends. He is previous beta’s son.
After my father’s demise its his father beta Zoro who taught me everything i need to know to become a successful alpha.
He also taught Mason every possible ways to become my shadow and assist me.
After uncle Zoro retired I announced Mason as my beta. I can trust him with my life.
Sam, my Gamma and cousin, is the third in command. He is 24 and my cousin brother. He also lost his parents to the same wolf-human war, where I lost my dad. His father was our last gamma and his mother was a talented warrior.
He found his mate from his mother’s side of the pack this year and has been on cloud nine since then. Rose, his mate is a dusky-skinned beauty with long jet-black hair. She left her pack and settled in our’s after they mated.
I nonchalantly replied, “Right, let me quickly get changed and we’ll leave” I closed my work and went to my room.
Our pack house has four floors; the top one is for me, the next for the Beta, Gamma, and guests respectively. After my father’s death, my mother left the pack house and now lives in a small cottage near the pack border, alone with dad’s memories.
After 15 minutes, everyone got ready for the party. I am wearing a light blue button-up shirt paired with loose jeans. Standing at 6.3 feet tall, with well-defined muscles and abs, I have black hair and piercing blue eyes. Similarly, I shift into a magnificent black wolf with striking blue eyes.
Beta Mason rode with me in my black BMW and we reached the club around 12:30 AM. Sam was dancing in the middle of the dance floor with his mate Rose, brother Matt and our other close friends to some loud music. He waved at me and Masy to join him.
As we made our way through the crowded club, the pulsing beats of the music reverberated in my chest. The atmosphere was electric, filled with laughter and the clinking of glasses.
I saw Sam, with his arms around Rose, looked happier than I had ever seen him. They made their way over to us, grinning from ear to ear. Soon Matt also joined us. They all slightly bowed to me. I remember the day when Sam and Rose found each other.
Last year me and Sam went for a global pack conference held in Crescent Hill pack.
It is his mother’s birth pack. After the conference, there was a feast arranged for the all the guests.
While everything going smooth, Crescent Hill pack’s beta Toby intently averted the conversation to the feral war between wolves and humans.
He taunted saying, because of some fools like my dad and Sam’s dad who believed in harmony, we lost great friends and fortune in the war.
Even though I got enraged by his words I calmed myself.
I didn’t want to create any scene in front of other alphas.
But Sam being Sam, went ahead and punched Toby in the face.
Soon the fight took ugly turn and I had to intervene. Everyone gathered there had to put force and stop both of them from getting into a blood bath. Once everything settled we took Sam and the blabber mouth beta Toby to their pack hospital for first aid.
There Sam met Rose, his mate for the first time. Soon we all came to know, she is Toby’s little sister. As expected he refused to let her go with Sam.
We all had to sit with Crescent Hill pack’s Alpha and came to a conclusion of uniting Sam and Rose, it’s the one ultimate law every pack has to adhere, nobody can separate mates unless they want to be separated.
We have brought Rose along with us that day, since then she became part of our family. Now look at them all clingy and inseparable. I’m truly happy for them both.
“Congratulations, man!” I said, clapping Matt on his shoulder.
He smiled, slightly tipsy, but genuinely happy. “Thanks, Zach! It means a lot that you’re here” he replied, his voice loud to be heard over the music.
“What’s your plan next? Want to go for higher studies?” I asked him.
“Hmm... I wanted to ask your permission officially, I haven’t even spoken about this to Sam yet. I want to join our seekers team. I want to help improve our pack’s security”
Sense of pride filled my chest. “Great choice brother, I feel proud of you. You can join us anytime” I hugged him.
Mason nudged me, a mischievous glint in his eye. “So, what’s the plan? Are we hitting the dance floor or grabbing some drinks first?”
I chuckled, glancing around. “Let’s get some drinks. I could use one after today”
We made our way to the bar and I ordered a round for us. As the bartender handed us our drinks, I noticed a familiar figure in the corner of the room.
Michelle was there, looking even more stunning under the club’s dim lights. She caught my eye and waved, making her way over.
“Zach! I didn’t know you’d be here tonight” she said, her eyes sparkling.
“It surely is a small world” I replied with a grin. “I’m here for Sam’s brother’s graduation party” I continued.
“Oh, how wonderful! I’m here with some friends. Maybe we can catch up later?” she walked away and joined her girl friends who all look very drunk at the moment.
“Sure” I nodded, though I could feel Aiden’s disapproval in the back of my mind.
We raised our glasses in a toast, celebrating the night and our camaraderie. The evening progressed with laughter and stories, a welcome break from the daily grind. As the night deepened, the club’s energy seemed to peak.
Mason leaned in, his voice low. “You know, it wouldn’t kill you to have some fun tonight. Join us on the dance floor”
I smiled, shaking my head. “Maybe in a bit. You go ahead”
As Mason and the others drifted off, I found myself alone at the bar, nursing my drink. Michelle’s invitation for dinner lingered in my mind. There was something about her that intrigued me.
She might look spoiled or stubborn at times but she is has a strong personality and a strong wolf. Any man can easily get smitten by her looks.
In the back of my mind Aiden’s voice reminded me of that “Michelle is greedy and only behind you because you are an alpha. What if she finds her mate and he is an Alpha too? Then what? We should respect moon goddess’s plan and wait for our own mate”
I sigh, observing the crowd around.
