CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

BETSY

B etsy threw the blanket off the top half of her.

“Freeze!” Daddy yelled before she could do anything further.

She froze and stared at him. Why did he tell her to stop? Did he not want to see her?

“Stay right there. I don’t want you tripping on the blanket or anyone's feet,” Daddy said as he started making his way towards her.

She relaxed into the couch, watching his every move. So he did want her. Her skin was itching to feel his arms wrapped around her. She was ready.

“We’re going to sit on the couch,” Daddy informed her.

She pulled the blanket and made an empty spot for him. She was bouncing up and down, waiting for him to sit down. Why was he taking so long?

Daddy finally sat down right next to her and she crawled onto his lap. Once his arms were around her, she felt her body slowly start to relax.

“You are so cute,” Daddy whispered. “My cute girl.”

Her face snuggled into his chest as she closed her eyes.

Safe.

Comfortable.

Secure.

Those are all things she felt right at this moment. All because of Daddy’s arms.

“Such a good girl. Were you a good girl for Dane, Angelo, and Rogan?” Daddy asked.

She nodded her head and held her hand out.

“Why is she holding her hand out?” Daddy inquired.

Dane placed a piece of cheese in her hand and she happily started to munch on it.

“Does my girl like cheese?”

She nodded and continued to eat the cheese. Thankfully she still liked cheese. It would be a travesty if she didn’t.

“Dane has been slowly feeding her cheese as we watched Looney Tunes,” Angelo said. “But not too much cheese. The pieces are thin so she hadn’t gotten much.”

That part she didn’t like. She wanted thick pieces, but Dane had glared at her when she demanded more. Party pooper.

“One more piece and then you are done,” Daddy said. “I don’t want you to have an upset stomach.”

Sighing, she held her hand out for one more piece. Her eyes opened as it was thicker than the rest of them. Looking, she realized it was a third of the block. Her eyes found Dane’s and he just winked at her. She smiled and slowly started to eat it, savoring the way it tasted.

“So, did you find out anything while I was on my way here?” Daddy asked.

She drowned out them talking, not wanting to relive the whole events. She just wanted to feel safe in Daddy’s arms. She just wanted to be where she belonged and she was.
