chapter 3

Back at home, upon hearing about the fetal reduction, Joseph's parents, Richard Griffin and Esther Griffin, also rushed over.

Richard slammed the table and said, "The boy absolutely cannot be aborted. The Griffin family's bloodline must be preserved."

I sat on the sofa, wiping my tears nonstop, looking fragile and helpless. "I don't want this either. They're all my children, and I can't bear to lose any of them."

"But if the child born in the future has health issues or even can't have children, the Griffin family's bloodline still won't be preserved."

"Let's abort the boy now and keep the girl. After a couple of years, when my body recovers, we can have a healthy boy. Wouldn't that be more secure?"

As I spoke, I quietly raised my eyes to observe their expressions.

Sure enough, upon hearing what I said, Richard and Esther both showed a thoughtful expression.

"No! The boy must not be aborted," Freya jumped in to stop. "Stella, your body is already weak. Who can guarantee you'll conceive again after this? Don't worry, with me here, I'll definitely help you nurse your body back and ensure you give birth to a healthy child."

To strengthen her argument, she added, "Don't forget, you couldn't conceive for years back then. It was with my help that you got pregnant with twins right away."

"Exactly! Keep the boy, let Freya help you recover, and everything will be fine," Richard said, slapping the table and making the decision for me.

Everyone believed what she said, except for me.

But they all forgot, I'm the one who's pregnant. As long as I don't want to, no one can take away my child.

I suddenly looked up and asked, "No, I can't bear to lose either of these two children. Freya, since you can help me recover, can you help me keep both?"

She said, "That would be very difficult. Continuing a twin pregnancy poses a huge risk to you and could endanger your life, which wouldn't be worth it."

I said, "It's okay. I'm willing to trade my life for theirs, as long as both of them can be healthy."

Freya and Joseph exchanged a glance without agreeing immediately. I guess theyre out of ideas too and will discuss a plan behind my back.

"If I can't even protect my children, what's the point of living?" With that, I suddenly stood up and made a move to rush toward the balcony.

This time, no one dared to act rashly, and Freya had no choice but to reluctantly agree to help me recover.

A few days later, she came to my house with a big bag of medicine, urging me to take it every day, warning that skipping even one day could be life-threatening.

I took a sharp breath and nodded firmly. "Don't worry, I'll definitely follow through."

To thank Freya, Joseph invited her to stay for dinner.

After dinner, he drove her home, while I went back to my room, lay on the bed, and carefully examined the bag of medicine.

At that moment, the little boy in my belly started guiding me on purpose again. "Mom, you must take your medicine properly, so my sister and I can both survive. We both really want to see you soon."

These words made me realize there was definitely something wrong with the medicine, and I absolutely couldn't take it.
