Chapter 19
OMG I love all the love you guys are giving me.
It makes me want to write more often even if it means missing a little Sunday night football (that's true love).
Sadly Monday equals school and work for the next 3 days so I might not be able to update :(
But here's the next chapter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I looked at Alexandra, horror stricken at what she just told me. Mason was her mate? I didn’t want to believe it for her sake.
“Cassie?” I didn’t even want to look at Mason at this point. His mate was right here and he just ignored her.
“Instead of worrying about me, worry about your mate.” I could hear the low rumble building in his chest.
Nick instantly stood in front of me to block Mason’s view of me. “We’re leaving.” Nick grabbed my arm and rushed past the two warriors Mason had in the room with us.
In the car I just sighed. I was going to lose my best warrior, my only warrior, to Mason. Shockingly Alexandra made her way to the car and I just looked at her in disbelief. “You’re coming with us?”
“He won’t even acknowledge me. It’s just as bad as being rejected.” I genuinely felt bad for my friend. That she was in this situation.
Luckily our pack was only a twenty minute drive because that car ride was painful. I didn’t have to touch Alexandra to feel the hurt radiating off of her.
Even now I thought of V. He was an ass. He was controlling. But he never made me feel like he didn’t want me there. Well, until I punched him.
Walking through the door, I was almost knocked to the ground when my mother came to give me a hug. “Oh sweetie! I missed you so much! How are you?!” She gasped as she pulled away from me and looked me over once. I knew what she was looking for when she stopped at the left side of my neck.
“You’re already mated?!”
“Ugh, no mom it-“
“I can’t believe it! You just left home! It hasn’t even been two weeks yet!” I grabbed her by the face and pulled her close to me.
“We are not fully mated. He just marked me.” My mom’s eyes went wide with horror and I knew she was thinking the worse.
“Why would he do that?!”
“It’s fine. They have a doctor who somehow medicated me so I didn’t feel the pain.” My mom seemed skeptical but she wasn’t saying anything about it.
“What are you doing home?” I glared at my dad for making me remember my problems with V. “Nice to see you too dad.”
He took two big strides before he kissed me on my forehead and pulled me into a hug. My dad could irritate me, but I did miss him a lot.
“It’s going to take a while to get used to that scent.” I threw my hands up as I stomped up the stairs to my old room. “Everyone keeps talking about this smell!”
They all laughed and I fell face first onto my bed. My first thought was how I missed my bed back at V’s. I quickly sat up as I heard my door open. I could only smile weakly at Alexandra.
Neither of us said anything as she sat on the bed next to me. I knew that I shouldn’t, but I knew it was the only way I would know how she really felt about the Mason thing.
I grabbed her hand. I knew she was strong but how she could keep all of this inside showed she was much stronger than I realized.
“I don’t see how he’s the best one for me.” I could see it, but not with a child on the way.
“You’re the best one for him. You’d give him structure and you’re loyal. Something a great Luna has to be.” She smirked and I instantly felt better to know she could still smile through all this.
Mason was a subject that resulted in a fight between V and me. However, after V marked me, the last person on my mind was Mason. It became irrelevant overnight.
“Very true.” We both looked to see Nick standing in my doorway before he walked in and closed the door behind him. “So why couldn’t she be my Luna?”
I raised an eyebrow at him. Was things not going well with Raven? “Not that. I just don’t think she would fit the role.”
“Not what?” I could only laugh. Poor Alexandra was going to be out of the loop a lot with our twin connection.
“You don’t need someone like us. You need a mate who is family oriented and soft spoken.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because you need to be the outspoken one. It’s your job as an alpha. If she’s soft spoken, you’re forced to speak up.” He shot me a dirty glance and I just laughed even more. I missed having these times with my brother.
“When are you going back?”
He just had to ruin the good moment we all were having. I made up my mind before we even left V’s territory that I would come back, but I needed time away from him.
“I think I’ll stay until we go to Europe.”
“And when is that?”
“Three days.” My brother slammed his head down on the bed before he quickly bounced it back up to yell at me.
“You’re fighting, but you’re going to meet the parents in three days? Are you insane?!”
No meeting of the parents for me. I’m going to see Derrick and my uncle Darrius, that’s it.
Nick rolled his eyes, obviously not believing what I told him but it was the truth. It didn’t even seem like V had any plans to introduce me to his family.
“Mark my words. You’re meeting his family.”
He got up and walked out of my room leaving me and Alexandra alone again. “He’s been around my dad for too long. He’s starting to be a buzz kill.”
Alexandra just laughed as she laid down on my bed. “So who’s all going to Europe? Will I be left alone in that big mansion?”
“Ugh. No. You’re coming if V likes it or not.” She leaned over and hugged me before she sighed deeply. “Thanks. I think I need a trip to help me think about things.”
“No problem. Wait…how did Nick know his family lives in Europe?”
“Brett, check on her.”
“Why don’t you?”
I was already irritated that she was gone, he should know better than to question me. Since he practically ran out of my office I knew that he got the message from the glare I sent him.
It has been two days already. We were leaving tomorrow, or at least we are supposed to. After our argument I don’t know much of anything anymore.
I wasn’t going to force her to go if she didn’t want to, but I would send warriors to her old pack if she liked it or not.
My phone started to ring. A quick check showed that it was Avery calling me. He obviously had something important to say if he called me instead of telling Brett when he called. I answered it expecting the worse.
“Tell me something.”
“She hasn’t done much of anything today. She hasn’t even left her room. Her mom thinks she’s depressed.”
I’m surprised that I didn’t crush the phone in my hand. I let Avery finish talking, not listening to anything he said. My mate was upset and I was the reason why. When he finished I hung up and quickly left my office.
I was going to get her today. There was no more playing nice. She was coming home.
I thought the knock on my door would be my mom again. She was worried about me since I haven’t been out of my bed in a full 24 hours.
I didn’t want to admit that it was because I missed V and that I was depressed at where we were. I didn’t want us to be pissed at each other. I didn’t want to feel like I had to leave. I definitely didn’t want him not to care if I was there or not. What was preventing us from moving on?
“Let’s talk shortness. You’re depression is killing me.”
I threw my covers over my face but Nick just walked over and pulled them back off.
“Why are you so depressed?”
I covered my face again so my answer came out muffled. “Because I don’t know what to do with my mate.”
I slowly pulled off the covers when I heard Nick sigh. He sighed a lot when he talked with me.
“The problem is you need to be more like the Cassandra that irritates her dad and pulls pranks. Not the angry or confused Cassandra. Don’t lose who you are just because you’re with him.”
God, Nick made so much sense right now. Everything was harder because my resentment from when he took me away. Now with us being partially mated I don’t know how I feel so I act all weird. I just need to go back to the adorable, opinionated, pain in the butt that everyone loves.
I kissed Nick on the cheek as I jumped up from the bed to get ready to leave. We both looked at each other when we heard a commotion outside.
“What’s that?”
When he didn’t answer me, I knew he was mindlinking the pack. Something I couldn’t do anymore. I found this out while being here.
“Your mate is here and he’s causing a scene.”
I quickly ran out of my room to get outside. Sure enough, the black wolf with piercing white eyes stood right on my front lawn with teeth barred at my father’s warriors.
“V.”
He turned to look at me but quickly focused his attention back on the warriors in front of him as one tried to move.
“Dad. Call them off!”
My father didn’t budge and the fact that the warriors didn’t either showed he wasn’t mindlinking them to back off.
I growled as I ran in between V and the warriors before I crossed my arms. “Back off. NOW!”
As much as the warriors wanted to disobey they slowly started to back away and I turned to face my mate. He was still in his wolf, hunched over and ready to strike.
“Relax and shift.” I thought about how he’d be naked when he shifted and quickly corrected myself. “Actually wait until Nick brings you clothes first.”
I walked back to my brother and touched his shoulder. “Can you get him some clothes, then show him to my room?” Nick nodded, never taking his eyes off V as I walked into the house.
No more distractions, no more excuses. Today we were going to have ‘the talk’.
I sat on my bed completely nervous for when V would come. The tingling feeling that I felt slowly rise up my back let me know he was outside my door.
When he walked into my room he was shirtless. I couldn’t help but look between his abs and biceps.
“We’re going home now.” His stern voice snapped me out of the little world I immersed myself in. I quickly brushed off my feelings earlier and shook my head.
“No. We’re going to talk now.”
He didn’t say no, but he didn’t say yes either. He just stood in front of me with his signature statuesque face and figure.
I reached out for his hands and he pulled away. “Why do you do that?”
“It’s not fair for you to go into my mind.”
“That’s not why I did it!” I honestly wasn’t trying to hear his thoughts. It always felt like an invasion of privacy. “It’s what I do when I talk to people. My parents, my brother, Alexandra.”
He just crossed his arms as he leaned against the wall opposite of me.
“Fine. You’re a jerk and you need to fix it.”
“And you’re a brat.”
“Because you make me.”
“How do I make you?”
Okay so the talk had become an argument. Not what I was going for. I was getting frustrated and with Nick helping the old me come back I could feel the flood gates opening.
“Look we’re supposed to talk, not argue.”
In return I got absolutely nothing from him but a blank stare. “Any input you want to give?”
“Nope. I don’t see the problem.”
Seriously? He has to be kidding. He has to be the most selfish and stubborn wolf on this planet.
“You don’t see the problem? You kidnapped me from my house.
Forced me into your room. Banned me from going home.
Marked me. Kicked me out of your room. Left me in charge.
Rejected me. Then said you don’t care if I’m even at your house or not.
You told me I’m confused. You’re confused. What do you want Alpha?”
Flood unleashed. I actually had to catch my breath after that. His demeanor didn’t change at all and I thought that he wasn’t even going to acknowledge anything I said. Suddenly his eyes met mine and my breath caught.
He took one step with his long legs and looked down at me. “I’ve always wanted you.”
Okay don't hate me for where I left this. I was going to add more to this chapter but...I think that the next part will be better on it's own.
Also, I will write a very lengthy POV for V in the next chapter.
