Chapter 29

Can't believe I've actually updated this soon after the last one. I will try to finish this book soon.

I was slowly coming back to consciousness from a soft touch on my collarbone. I chose to ignore it and try to go back to sleep.

They however had different plans. Instead they bit lightly on my neck and I jumped up. “Ugh…stop.” I hate the fact that I’m ticklish.

“Up brat. There is much that needs to be done today.”

I force myself up and glared at V. “Like what? I just want to sleep. You’re the one who kept me up all night.” I yawned as I tried to stretch before V grabbed my arm to pull me closer to him.

“I remember someone grinding on me in the middle of the night.” Damn. I forgot about that. V just smirked triumphantly at me while I got up from the bed to try and get ready.

Since we had a bath last night, I guess I can take a shower this morning. I quickly turned it on and took off V’s shirt that I had put on last night.

Somehow he can sleep without clothes. I cannot. Although I would love to always sleep in my pajamas, it’s unrealistic. So I usually just throw on V’s shirt instead.

I stepped into the shower and felt relaxed as the hot water ran over my body. This was doing the complete opposite of what I need right now.

Slowly I felt as V ran his hand up my stomach. “Thought we have a lot to do today?”

“We do. Doesn't mean we can’t shower together.”

I rolled my eyes. There was no way that was going to happen. “Alex will be here in 10.”

I jumped away from V and he looked at me puzzled. “What’s wrong?”

“I thought I heard something.”

“You did. That was one of my warriors. I have a meeting which is why I said we can shower together and nothing else.”

Oh yeah. I forgot I could mindlink now. This is going to take some getting used to. “Why didn't he just mindlink you?”

“Because I need to know, Brett, the blood pack-“

“Who’s the blood pack?” He just smirked before he gave me a quick peck and turned away to wash himself up.

He only has 10 minutes. I won’t bother him about it now. I grabbed my body wash so I could wash up as well. I was lathering up my arms when I saw V staring at me. “What?”

“You’re gorgeous ruqa.” He gave me a quick kiss before he got out of the shower.

I just smiled to myself as I continued to wash up. I had barely washed out the shampoo when V called for me again. “I need you to hurry so I can brief you.”

Brief me? What the hell was going on? I haven’t been briefed since I was a co-beta with my brother. When I take Alexandra to see Mason again, I’ll have to stop by my place to check up on the other half of me, literally.

After I got dressed V pulled me out of the room at a very rushed pace. “You are going to start training with Greggor today.”

“Really?!” I was so excited. I haven’t trained in what felt like ages. “Yeah. But one mark on you and I’ll skin Greggor alive.”

That’s so unrealistic. Cuts and scrapes happen from playing outside, what did he expect to happen. I hate that he babies me.

“I already gave him the rules and I really need to get going. You better be careful.”

Oddly enough it made me feel all bubbly inside that he worried about me. I stood on my tip toes but still had to pull him down a little so our lips would connect. “Promise.”

He stalked off to his office while I started to wonder to the infirmary. I just wanted to check and make sure the wolves they brought in were doing fine.

I barely pushed the door open when Dr. Billings voice echoed through the room. “Well Luna, nice to see you again.”

I sighed as I made my way fully into the room. I gave a small wave to all the wolves, which were now staring at me in what I think is awe.

“Hi. I just came to see how they were doing.” Dr. Billings nodded as he motioned me towards him. “Well they are doing quite well. Like I said before, warrior’s blood works wonders. It’s not quite as strong as that mate of yours.”

I smiled as I tucked my hair behind my right ear. “So they will be good as new soon?”

“Yup. They go home today.” I nodded before I looked over at the three warriors.

They seemed paralyzed and it didn't even seem like they were able to blink. “Hi.”

Instead of answering they all bowed in sync. That’s kinda weird. Or more like a lot of weird. I smiled awkwardly not knowing what to say or do.

“Nice of you to check on them Luna but I’m afraid I have to take you away.”

Thank God for Greggor. I really felt out of place. I gave another wave and bid Dr. Billings goodbye before I left out of the infirmary following Greggor. I wasn't shocked that he had taken me out of the house and to the woods.

I was shocked to see how many wolves were out there. He was seriously too overprotective.

“You can’t blame him. He’ll do a lot of things you won’t understand…yet.”

I could swear that Greggor can read minds. Not that I could really say anything, since I could read minds as well. It was different but the same I guess.

“Hey Ghost.”

He nodded at me as I looked around for Boss and Smiley. I knew they had to be around somewhere.

“Okay. So I've heard that you’re good in your human form. I just want to test that out if you don’t mind.”

I smirked. “Nope. I don’t mind at all.”

I usually fought with a weapon in human form, but it was only necessary if I was fighting a wolf. If he stays like this I’ll be fine.

He smirked as well and took off his jacket. I took this opportunity to tie up my hair as he looked over at me. “Ready?”

“The enemy never asks.”

He laughed before he closed the space between us. It took me off guard since he was faster than anyone I've ever fought. I quickly threw up my hands to block his hit with my forearms.

To counter, I used his leg that he extended to punch to step up and try to superman punch him. I barely clipped him as he moved out of the way.

He looked at me. “You’re inventive.”

“So I've heard.” Instead of waiting for him to come for me again I ran as fast as I could for him. He seemed to expect me to try and go high again.

Instead I took the opportunity to slide between his legs. I jumped up to grab his shoulders and pulled him down to the ground.

Jumping back up, I stood above him. “Do I pass?”

“With flying colors. So why can’t you fight with your wolf?” It’s embarrassing to admit that I was a late bloomer and would have been later if V didn't mark me.

“I didn't shift until I moved with V about 6 months after my 15th birthday.”

He seemed to have an ah ha moment. I just stood to the side thinking about why V wouldn't train me.

“He wanted to. But his schedule and over protective side wouldn't let him.”

“Okay.” I crossed my arms as I walked over to Greggor. “Do you read minds?”

“No.”

“Then how do you hear my thoughts?”

“Because that is my gift.” I was totally confused by that. Does he read minds or not?

“I don’t.” I threw my hands up in frustration. “Explain to me how you don’t read minds but then go and do it.”

“I don’t read minds. I hear thoughts.” I’m pretty sure it’s the same thing. He sighed as he tried to explain it to me more. “You know how you hear people’s thoughts when you touch their hands?”

“Yeah.” Everyone knew about that, it’s why everyone avoids my hands like a plague.

“Well I can only hear what you are thinking. The harder you think about it, the louder it is. Take you for example.” He pointed at me as I was a little shocked. “Most of your thoughts sound like a whisper, so if I didn't pay attention I would probably miss it.”

Was that a good thing? I don’t know. “But V sounds like he’s yelling most of the time.

I think it has to do with your personalities.

He will focus every fiber of his being to one thought.

This makes it strong and or louder for me to hear.

You on the other hand, think about a thousand things so it quickly passes your mind.

So like the wind it’s gone as fast as it came. ”

Okay now it was making more sense. If I didn't think about anything than Greggor wouldn't hear anything, while if I touch someone’s hand, I would get something. It might be a thought, memory, or plan.

“Exactly. Your gift has so much more potential than mine. I’m sure the stronger your wolf gets, the strong your gift will get as well. So…let’s train.”

Ah it hurt so good after training. I was going to go and bother V but I knew he was busy today. Plus I had to find Alexandra so we could go and see Mason.

I really didn't want to go searching for her now that I I’m used to just mindlinking everyone. Which I will still do.

“Brett~” I’m pretty sure that my high pitch made him laugh.

“Yes Cassie.”

“You know where Alexandra is?” And now he has me waiting for an answer. What is this?

“Ted said she’s in the library.”

“Thanks.”

I quickly ran to the library. Now normally you are supposed to be quite in the library, but this was in my house so I refused to follow that rule.

I burst through the door and yelled. “Yo Sandra! Let’s go!!” She looked up mortified before she ran over and tried to push me out of the room.

I quickly apologized to everyone else in the library before I pulled her away with her burning two holes in the back of my head from her glare.

“What was that about?” She asked as she pulled her arm out of my grasp.

I just shrugged as I kept walking. “We are going to make Mason understand you’re his mate.”

Not even looking back to see if she was coming I walked out of the house and walked to the cars. I just took the keys to the suburban since V never replaced my car. I got into the driver’s seat when Alexandra hopped into the passenger seat a little flustered.

“How are we supposed to do that?”

“Don’t worry about it. Let’s go.” I smiled at her as I put the car in drive and started the beginning of a very long trip.

The first half hour was filled with sounds from the radio before Alexandra turned if off. “So let’s talk about you.”

“What about me?”

She rolled her eyes as she tapped her neck. Should have known. She only wants to talk about V.

“We’re good right now.”

“Right now?”

“Well yeah. I kinda don’t listen and tend to piss him off but other than that we’re good. He’s even letting me train.”

“Hmmm.” She looked out the window as she thought about something. “Do I have to touch your hand or are you going to share?”

“I was just thinking about Mason. Like how we would be together.”

It got silent again. I was trying to think about what to tell her. He might have changed. I could be describing the wrong man to her entirely.

“He’s sweet, caring, funny, and until you came, the only friend I had that wasn't my brother. He helped me through my issues being the ‘other’ kid in my family. He could also be a pain. He gave me the nickname sweetheart just because it embarrassed me.” Alexandra smiled at this.

“He also seemed liked the only one who didn't want me to leave when I went to Hungary. He texted me every day for the full two years.” Alexandra huffed as she looked out the window.

“Yeah that’s your Mason. How will he be with me though?”

“Better.” She tried to fight the grin that was playing at the corners of her mouth.

Finally it took over as she finally gave in and we both started to laugh. “I hope you’re right.”

Me too but for some reason I had no doubt in my mind.

Mason’s territory grew closer and I stopped as we made it to his guards. I stopped and rolled down my window so I could talk to the one who approached.

“Just here to see Alpha Mason.”

“Why do you need so many men for a simple visit?” Of course the boys came too.

I pushed my door open without giving the guard warning to move. Hopping out, I walked to the back of the SUV where I waited for them with arms crossed.

Boss was the one who came walking out from the shadows of the forest. “Explain.”

“We couldn't let you leave by yourself. Alpha isn't happy we let you leave at all.”

Of course he wasn't. He was a crazy, over protective mate that didn't trust anything that I did. Especially around Mason.

“Well…you can come but the others have to stay outside.” He just nodded to show he agreed as I walked back to the guard.

“Like I said… we need to see Alpha Mason.” He took a minute to mindlink before he nodded and began to lead the way for us.

I walked right behind him with Alexandra’s arm linked with my own. Boss was following close behind us. It hadn't changed at all, not that it had been that long since we were here last.

The guard had taken us into the same room as the last time. Alexandra began to freak out and I quickly grabbed her by the shoulders. “Calm down. This time will be different.”

“How do you know?” You could see the fear in her eyes.

I didn't get to answer her before the door opened. In walked Mason with the same sandy blonde hair and hazel eyes I once loved.

The problem is he didn't look at Alexandra. That bastard. He just had to ruin my plan. He growled and I knew that he didn't like the fact that I smelled like V.

“Where’s the mate?”

“I brought her to you.” I know he was talking about V but we needed him to focus on his own mate at the moment.

He huffed before he looked over to Alexandra. She looked hopefully before he contorted his face. I know he had to know she was his mate.

Shaking his head he hurried out of the room and Alexandra looked over at me confused.

I heard a loud roar and almost died. Did V really have to come and trespass on another pack’s lands because of his insecurities?

I ran out to the front of the pack house and saw V in his human form slowly walking towards the house. I quickly ran to meet him and knew I was in trouble when he held me arm’s length away.

“What are you doing here?”

“I could ask you the same thing.” His eyes were dark from anger and I knew he wasn't going to let this go easily. “I wanted to help Alexandra.”

“And this helps how?”

“He’s 18 today. He knows she’s his mate now.” He looked like he understood but that didn't make his pissed off look disappear. I was still in trouble.

“So is she staying?” I looked back at her and she shook her head no with a sigh.

I did feel a little bad. I thought he would be like V and just throw her over his shoulder and stalk off with her.

As if he read my mind V threw me over his shoulder and held onto the back of my thighs as he walked back to the SUV.

“Wait. I wanted to see my brother.”

He smacked my butt and I yelped in surprise. “Nope. You’re on punishment.”

I pouted but didn't argue as he practically threw me in the back seat. Alexandra was going to climb in behind me but he stopped her. “Sit up front.”

She looked a little confused but walked to the passenger side anyways.

When we started to drive I got really tired. That training must have finally caught up with me. I mumbled something before V shushed me. Whining a little I finally laid down on the back seat.

After Cassie fell asleep I looked over at Alexandra and saw how defeated she looked. I didn't know if it would help but I felt that she needed to know about the male thought process when it comes to our mates.

“He just needs time.”

She looked over at me with indifference. “Time for what?”

“To accept you’re his mate.”

She turned her body towards me as she rested her head on her arm that she propped up against the headrest. “How do you know?”

“It took me some time to accept that one.” She looked back at Cassie before she returned her gaze to me. “Liar.”

“When I first saw her I wanted nothing but her. However, when she told me she was 15…well things changed. That’s why it took me 6 months to come back. I didn't know if I could handle having a 15 year old as a mate.”

“But I’m not 15! What is there to accept?!” I glared at her before I looked back.

She realized that I wanted her quiet to keep Cassie asleep.

“He has to come to terms that it’s you and not her. She had to do the same with me. But as you probably noticed, once he accepts it he’s yours and only yours.”

She ruffled her own hair as she sighed heavily. “Just out of curiosity. If you know that she’s yours and yours only, why have such a tight leash?”

“Safety.” She wasn't getting any more out of me.

I felt as she stared at me a while longer before giving up and finally sitting back in her seat as she was before.

Home was the best sight. I got out of the car and opened the back door to see Cassie sprawled out across the whole back seat. I’m so glad she didn't sleep like this in the bed.

No point just watching her. I quickly picked her up as I walked into the house. Brett smiled as he leaned against the wall. “Training tough?”

“Probably. Did the men get back home fine?”

“Yup.”

I nodded and continued walking to the stairs so I could get to the room. When I finally made it I placed the sleeping Cassie on top of the bed.

I took off her shoes, jacket, and pulled back the covers to put her in the bed.

After she was in bed, I brushed her hair to the side and kissed her on the forehead. She might be cute now but when she woke up there was still going to be hell to pay.

I didn't completely leave V out but how could I? Next chapter will touch on a touchy subject for V again.
