Chapter 6

After lunch, Wolfgrim Morris of the Universal Paranormal High Council sat at his desk and looked at the complaint in front of him.

This had to be the strangest one he’d ever gotten in all his years.

He was sure this was a ploy by the Silver Point Alpha but what he hoped to gain from it was impossible to see.

Nevertheless, he could delay no further, so he reluctantly placed the call.

“Hello?”

“Hello, is this Alpha Blackwood speaking?” Wolfgrim asked.

“Just a minute…” Steel said, setting the phone down by Jackson and taking their son from him.

“Hello, Alpha Blackwood speaking. Who is this?”

“Alpha Blackwood, this is Wolfgrim Morris…Universal Paranormal High Council.”

“Oh, hi Mr. Morris. Was there a problem with my request for additional time to respond?”

“Err…no-o-o, no problem. I granted you the additional time. My call is about a complaint that has been filed against you and your pack.”

“Complaint? Who complained?” asked Jackson, wondering if Pablo’s sister filed it.

“Alpha Silver Point. I’m emailing it to you now and of course you have 60 days in which to file an answer with the Universal Paranormal High Council.

Also, please consider this as putting you and your pack on notice; if harm befalls any member of the Silver Point pack, you and your pack will be held responsible for it…

whether or not any of you personally caused the harm. ”

“My uncle filed a complaint against us? Whatever for?”

“The accusations in the complaint are very clear. You should have it now as my email program has indicated it has been received. Good-bye, Alpha Blackwood.”

Jackson looked to make sure the call had been ended, then set down the phone. What the fuck is my uncle up to now? He went over everything in is mind and still had no answer. Oh shit, Dylon. This had to be about Dylon.

“Babe, what happened? Was that Morris with the High Council? Any news on your complaint?” asked Steel as he gently bounced Daniel on his knee.

“No…well I got the extension of time. But Morris was calling me about a complaint my uncle filed against me and my pack. He emailed it, so it should be in my study now.”

“What could he complain about? That you filed a complaint against him?”

“I haven’t got a clue. The only thing I can think of is Dylon. What he could claim we did is beyond me. Might as well go and see what he’s up to.”

Jackson rose, taking Daniel back from Steel and then headed to his study, knowing Steel would follow.

A frown crossed his face as he remembered the condition Dylon was in when Jimmy found him.

Luckily, Colton was able to save Cody’s Fated Mate but Dylon refused Jackson’s offer to file a complaint on his behalf.

But now, if Josiah’s complaint concerned Dylon, then he and Dylon would revisit the topic to see what could be done.

Steel listened to his mate through their mind link and while he could understand Jackson’s thinking, he had a sinking feeling in his stomach that Josiah’s complaint wasn’t about Dylon. “Babe, if you don’t mind, I’m going to ask Mom to watch Daniel while we sort this out.”

Sighing, Jackson knew Steel was right. If this was about Dylon, his afternoon just became very busy which would deprive his son of his full attention.

“Good idea,” Jackson said, as he handed Daniel back to his mate.

“He needs a change and a nap. Tell her I’ll come as soon as I finish with this…

” Jackson said, as he waved his arm towards his study.

Giving his mate a sweet kiss, Steel then walked towards his mother’s suite with their son. “I’ll be right back and then I’ll call Penn.”

Jackson entered his study and checked his emails and found the one from Morris. Clicking on it, he started to read.

Dylon waited for Cody to wake up as he sat in their sitting room, checking the latest specs from Logan for the redesign of the space Jackson gave them for their home for boys.

But eventually, he threw the memo down in disgust when he realized he was reading the same sentence again and again.

His mind was on the conversation he had with Jackson and the boys.

It made him understand they had a long road ahead of them.

Even though the boys showed no outward signs of what they’d been through, there was a mountain of mental issues to work through before they’d be able to live normal lives.

That realization made Dylon think about boys who would come to live with them.

Dylon snorted. We should expect mental issues as well as physical problems with each boy we take in.

He was just beginning to comprehend what he and Cody would face with the boys whose parents rejected them because they were gay.

Yeah, we certainly are naive about this.

Maybe we should look for a specialist who can handle those issues.

Deciding to talk it over with Cody first before asking Ian if he could recommend someone, Dylon sat back and looked out the window.

Maybe it was time for another run—with the boys this time.

Lizzie snuck out of Jake and Jessica’s room, holding the part of the baby monitor she needed.

She smiled to herself. A grandmother! I’m a grandmother to two of the sweetest and prettiest pups I ever did see.

But now was her chance to convince Frank to let her go to Scotland with the boys even though she knew he wanted her to go home with him.

They had stayed far longer than planned, but after discovering Cody and Dylon had adopted twins, her Frank was smart enough to know there wasn’t a chance in Hades of getting her to agree to go home.

Frank used some of his vacation days, but she sensed it was coming to an end.

Faced with long lonely days while he was at work, Lizzie dreaded returning to a life she no longer wanted.

When Kieran proposed the trip to Scotland, it was as if the Fates had smiled upon her.

All morning, while she was taking care of the twins, her mind kept wandering back to the possibility of travel for fun instead of for High Council business.

Sometimes she wondered if Frank ever understood how dreary all the gatherings he took her to were.

They were all formal proceedings—who walked or sat next to whom—all dictated by rank.

Boring! Lizzie missed the spontaneity she found here—the fun, the teasing, the joking and the laughter.

She hoped to convince Frank to let her have a little more fun before she settled back into an austere world filled with shades of gray.

Lizzie wasn’t kidding when she told everyone how romantic a trip to Scotland would be and the possibility that she might go was something she was going to push for.

Opening their bedroom door, she called out, “Frank, are you here?”

“In here, Lizzie.”

Lizzie closed the door and walked into the sitting room where Frank was sitting at the desk, papers spread out all over it as he furiously typed on his laptop. “Problems with the High Council, dear?”

Frank mumbled something and then stopped typing.

Looking up, he smiled at his wife, loving how she looked with her hair slightly mussed by the twins’ fingers and her lipstick faded by the many raspberries she made on their tummies.

“Come here, darling,” he said as he moved his chair back from the desk and patted his lap.

Giggling, she set the baby monitor down on the corner of the desk and sat on his lap, feeling Frank’s arms pull her tight to his chest. “Oh Frankie,” she sighed, as she wrapped her small hands around his thick forearms. Ducking her head, she felt his whiskers on the back of her neck as he proceeded to kiss her until she was breathless.

Soon they were lost in their own world of love.

Cody’s eyes opened and then closed quickly as the afternoon sun blinded him. Oh my god, it’s afternoon already. Using their mind link, he called for Dylon. My love, where are you? Suddenly, Dylon was standing at the side of the bed, looking gorgeous. Remembering the rules, Cody said nothing.

“How do you feel, my pet?”

“Much better, sir.”

“Good,” Dylon said as he removed the cuffs from Cody’s wrists. “Do you need to pee?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Then let’s go.”

“Yes, sir.” Cody got up and walked to the bathroom with Dylon by his side.

He was taken aback when Dylon brushed Cody’s hands aside and held his cock as Cody relieved himself.

Such a private and intimate act, yet, instead of being embarrassed, he felt a new level of security and safety as Dylon demonstrated that he owned every part of Cody, body and soul.

After washing his and Cody’s hands, Dylon said, “Go assume the position.” He watched his mate walk out of the bathroom and then took care of his own need before joining Cody in their bedroom.

Sitting at the foot of the bed, Dylon examined Cody and their life thread for signs of distress but found none.

“Pet, first let me assure you Jake and Jessica are fine. I spoke to our boys along with Jackson and they will not be leaving.” Dylon felt Cody’s relief about that.

“However, I do have matters to discuss with you about what occurred in the meeting. Since I know you’ll have questions, let’s go to the sitting room where we can get comfortable and you can eat the meal Dakota made for you.

” Holding out his hand for Cody, he was again enamored with the gracefulness of his mate as Cody rose from his kneeling position.

Dylon lifted the cover from the plate of roast beef sandwiches Dakota made for his mate as Cody sat down. Joining him at the table, Dylon handed him one. Seeing the questioning look on Cody’s face, Dylon said, “Go ahead. I ate while you were sleeping.”
