Warren’s Diary

Warren’s Diary

I have been in Venice for almost six months, and I can see why it is so popular. The architecture is something of beauty; such magnificent buildings still standing as reminders of the past. The city feels old, yet alive, and I am utterly taken by it.

Prowling the streets at night, I feast on delicious Italian blood and savor the distinct spice that coats my tongue delightfully.

This place almost reminds me of New Orleans, though one could argue that it is far more sophisticated in its nightlife appeal.

I am always eager for the sun to set so that I may find someone new to walk along the canals with or take a ride on one of the gondolas before I devour them.

It is easy to dispose of bodies when you are traveling on a boat, and as the newspapers have so diligently reported, their cause of death is almost certainly ruled as accidental drowning.

Lena sent me here on behalf of the Authority.

While I have yet to meet any of them personally, I can sense Lena’s unease whenever she meets with them.

They have been trying to establish donor communities in certain cities across the world.

The Authority was reluctant at first, but Lena convinced them that there were humans who would thrive on the knowledge of vampires and would therefore be more than willing to help sustain our appetites.

Frankly, I think it is bizarre. Perhaps, long ago, I would have thought the idea wonderful and a way to keep part of our humanity intact. But after being free to feed and hunt like I have been…well, donated blood was just not any fun.

After checking the operation was running smoothly, I was free to do what I wanted, providing that it did not disturb what the Authority had put in place.

That is why I made sure to dispose of all the bodies.
