Chapter 14
fourteen
. . .
Axel
Two years ago
“Damn, I miss riding with you,” I said as we dropped the horses in their stalls.
“I miss riding with you, too.”
Wren was home, and everything was better when she was here. She’d been pushing hard these last three years, so I didn’t get to see her as often as I was used to. She’d stepped up her game, and she was a big name in the horse world now.
I went to as many of her competitions as I could, and we spoke several times a day. But something had shifted in me this last year whenever I’d see her.
It was more than missing her.
She was a part of me, and I wanted to be with her all the time.
She and Ryan had broken up a few months earlier, and I was surprised to find how completely relieved I was when she’d called to tell me.
I also hadn’t been with anyone since I’d ended things with Megan a few months ago, and I had no desire to, which was weird as hell.
I was a horny dude.
But every time I went out, I found myself leaving early to go call Wren.
She was my girl in every way but one, and I was ready to change that.
I knew she felt it, too.
We were more than best friends.
She was my person.
And I wanted her.
All of her.
“Things still going fine with Ryan? He isn’t pushing to get back together anymore?” I asked once we’d stepped inside. We sat on the couch at my place.
“No. He understands. I’ve made it clear that I think we’re better off as friends.”
I nodded. “Good. I know it can be awkward, seeing as you train together daily.”
“It was a little uncomfortable at first, but enough time has passed that it’s fine now.” She shrugged. “And what about you? You haven’t talked about anyone in a while. Things are really over with Megan?”
“Yeah. It wasn’t all that serious.”
“She wants it to be, though, doesn’t she?”
“She does. But I’ve been honest with her,” I said as I ran my finger over the little tattoo on her wrist. The one matching mine.
In a heartbeat.
She’d called it “friendship ink.”
“You’re just not there yet. You like playing the field, Cowboy.” She chewed her bottom lip, and damn if I didn’t want to kiss her.
Things had been like this the last few times we’d been together, but she’d been dating Ryan, and I wasn’t going to put her in an uncomfortable situation if she was happy with the dude.
Though I never thought she was.
“I don’t think I like playing the field,” I said. “I think I just haven’t been with the right girl.”
“I agree. You haven’t dated anyone who you actually have anything in common with. You’re always messing with these girls that you can’t go deep with.”
“Because you’re the only girl I like going deep with.” I chuckled.
“We get each other, don’t we?”
“We do.” I traced my finger over her palm, and she rested her cheek against the back of the couch and smiled at me.
“So what do you think your type is?”
“Honestly?” I sighed. “I’m looking at my type.”
“Axel.” She rolled her eyes.
“What? I’m serious.”
“You’re serious? You think I’m your type.”
“I don’t think you’re my type. I know you’re my type.
You’re it for me, Wren. You’re the first person I talk to every morning when I wake up, and you’re the last person I talk to before I go to sleep every night.
Hell, I don’t even want to have sex with anyone else because all I think about is you. ”
“Since when?”
“For a while now. I just didn’t want to say anything because you were with Ryan, and I don’t know—” I blew out a breath.
“It’s you and me, and it’s risky because if I fuck it up, I would ruin the best relationship in my life.
But I can’t stop thinking about you, so I’m just putting it all out there. ”
I could see the way her chest was rising and falling rapidly, and her tongue swiped out to wet her lips. “I told you that Ryan and I were fighting all the time, but I didn’t tell you why.”
“Tell me.”
“He thought I was in love with my best friend,” she whispered. “He couldn’t get past it. Ever since he met you, when you came to that competition right before he and I broke up, he said the way I looked at you gave it away.”
“Are you in love with your best friend, Wren?” I asked.
“I have been for a very long time. But I didn’t think you felt the same way.”
“I’ve loved you my whole life, Wren Waterstone. It started as a friendship, but it’s something more now. So much more. I couldn’t stand the thought of you with Ryan. Hell, I can’t stand the thought of you with anyone. I want you so bad I can’t see straight.”
“You were my first kiss. Maybe you should be my last?” she said, the corners of her lips turning up in the sexiest smile.
I tugged her onto my lap and tangled my hands in her hair, pulling her face down to mine. “If we do this, we’re going all in. There’s no halfway when it’s you and me. Are you okay with that?”
“I’ve always been all in with you, Cowboy.”
I pulled her face down as my lips crashed into hers.
It was desperate and needy.
Her legs fell on either side of my hips as she straddled me. My tongue slipped inside and tangled with hers in a fevered fury.
Kissing Wren felt like finding something you’d been searching for your entire life.
And she’d been right in front of me this whole time.
I tilted her head to the side to take the kiss deeper as a little moan escaped her mouth. My dick strained so hard against the zipper of my jeans I thought he’d tear right through it.
She ground up against me, sliding up and down my shaft, right through our clothing. My hands moved down to the hem of her tee and slipped beneath, my fingers tracing over her warm, soft skin. The lace of her bra beneath my fingertips had me desperate to feel what was beneath.
Wren’s tits were works of art.
She pulled back. “Are we really doing this, Cowboy?” Her voice was sexy and strained. Blonde hair fell in waves around her shoulders, and her eyes were wild with need.
“We’re doing this.” I stood, taking her with me as her legs wrapped around my waist and her head fell back in laughter as I carried her down the hallway.
I dropped her on the bed, and she bounced a little. I reached down and tugged off her red boots one at a time.
“You sure about this?” I asked her as I hovered above her. “Because once we cross the line, there’s no turning back.”
“I’ve never been more sure about anything in my life.”
That was all I needed to hear. I felt the exact same way.
Wren was the closest person to me. We’d always shared everything.
Everything aside from this.
I unbuttoned her jeans and tugged them down her legs before pulling her tee over her head when she held her arms up and sat forward.
And then I just looked at her.
This new, sexy version of Wren, lying here in pink lace panties and a matching bra.
“Jesus. You’re so fucking sexy. I want to memorize every goddamn inch of you like this. Right here in my bed.”
“You like the pink, huh?” she said in a raspy voice, and damn if my dick didn’t pulse even harder against my jeans.
“Did you wear this for me, Wren?” I leaned down and whispered against her ear. “Were you hoping I’d strip you bare and see your pretty panties?”
“I think I’ve always hoped this would happen,” she whispered, and I pulled back to look at her.
I traced my fingers over her hard peaks, and my mouth watered at the sight. “Do you know how many times I’ve thought about these tits of yours? Like they were fucking made for me, but I couldn’t touch them.”
“You can touch them now.” Her words came out breathy as her chest rose and fell rapidly.
My mouth came down right over the lace and I sucked, swirling the tip of my tongue around the outside of her nipple, over and over, before switching sides. Her skin flushed when I slipped my hand into the arch of her back and unsnapped her bra and tossed it on the floor.
“Fuck me. Look at those pretty pink nipples.”
“Axel,” she groaned as my mouth came down over her bare breasts. My hand moved slowly between her thighs, and she spread her legs wider. My finger slipped beneath the lace of her panties, to find her soaked.
Jesus. How would I survive this?
“Damn. You’re so wet and ready for me.” I pulled back to look at her. “Do you want me to touch you here, Wren?”
“Please.” She writhed beneath me.
I slipped a finger inside her as I kissed my way down her body, ready to bury my face between her thighs. She bucked wildly as my lips pressed against her clit, and I slipped another finger inside.
In and out as her breaths filled the space around us.
“Oh my God,” she moaned. “Yes.”
I could do nothing else the rest of my life but stay right here.
I licked and sucked and brought her right to the edge before pulling back.
Over and over.
“Axel, please,” she begged, and I nearly came right there.
I clamped my mouth over her clit and moved my fingers faster, knowing just what she needed.
And her thighs tightened around my head as she gripped my hair and cried out my name. I stayed right there until she’d ridden out every last bit of pleasure.
“God damn, you’re sexy,” I said as I slipped my two fingers in my mouth and sucked.
Her eyes were wide, and she pointed at me. “I need you naked now.”
“Yes, ma’am,” I teased as I tore my shirt over my head and kicked off my jeans and briefs. She pushed up on her elbows as her eyes scanned every inch of me.
“Damn. I guess the ‘big hands, big feet’ theory is a real thing.”
“You like what you see, baby?” I smirked as I wrapped my hand around my cock and stroked it a few times.
“I like everything I see.”
I moved to the nightstand and grabbed the foil packet there, then tore off the top and rolled the latex over my length as she watched.
“I’m not sure it’s going to fit,” she said as I hovered above her.
“It’ll fit. And we’ve got a lifetime to practice.” I winked at her, because I fucking meant it.
I adjusted myself at her entrance, and we took our time.
My gaze locked with hers, and we never lost contact.
And I moved forward, my arms braced beside her, since it took every ounce of restraint to move slowly.
But I watched as her dark eyes relaxed. Her hands slid down my back before grabbing my ass and urging me forward.
Inch by fucking inch.
I stayed perfectly still as I waited for her to adjust to my size. And then she smiled up at me.
We kissed as I pulled out and pushed back in, slowly at first.
Over and over.
Until we’d found our rhythm.
Like we were absolutely made for one another. She arched her back as I drove in, and she met me thrust for thrust.
We kissed one another with a hunger I’d never experienced. And when she tightened around me and her body started to shake, I pumped into her once more and followed her into oblivion.
We were panting and moaning.
And once our breathing had slowed, I pulled back, and a big smile spread across her face.
“Damn, Horse Girl. Where have you been all my life?” I asked, my voice gruff.
“Waiting for you, Cowboy.”
We’d had to wait until we were both ready to go here.
And it was definitely worth the wait.
