21. Lilith

Chapter twenty-one

Lilith

G od answered my prayers. He sent an angel with a halo made from curly blonde hair. He’s going to bring us food. I smile up at the ceiling as I see the Lord’s swirls of light parade around in the darkness. My faith will save me. The hum in my body returns and it begins to pull me off the ground. Here I am, floating, away from the shackles that had kept me against the cold concrete floor. Another miracle of God himself.

I turn towards Elijah and see his small frame on the ground below me. “Don’t you feel God’s love?”

His eyes turn towards me in a state of shock. It’s the first time I had spoken to him since I yelled at him. God has helped lead me to forgiveness for him however, and during this trying time, he needs me.

“Did you say something?” He asks. I’m sure he’s having a hard time witnessing the miracle in front of him.

I let my fingers dance through the streams of light as I’m carried higher up. “God’s love, Elijah. It’s surrounding us. He’s going to save us. We are God’s children and he’s come in our time of need.” I turn my head to face him as he gives me a small smile.

“Thank you for not shutting me out,” he whispers, “it’s been so lonely.” I smile back at him before continuing to be entranced by God’s light. It continues to get brighter and the

warmth in my chest blooms. Our angel will be back in the morning with some food.

I will need to show him my gratitude, I think to myself. My mind begins to race with ideas on how I can prove my appreciation. This angel, he can have whatever he desires. My life will be devoted to him.

“Will you pray with me, Elijah?”

“Of course.”

Together we begin, “ Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.”

As the prayer ends His light fills me with an orgasmic feeling. I close my eyes and allow the bliss to take over, bringing to me a sliver of heaven.
