Chapter 38

Imight have spread the word about Oliver Cooper, the guard who was Butcher’s mole, to my contacts on the street so we can find him faster.

Part of me wants to end this, but the other part wants this to last forever.

The longer he’s free, though, the more dangerous he is, and I don’t want the Sais to be hurt.

Fuck, I can’t even admit that without feeling sick, but seeing Zayn’s reaction to being drugged has made me realize I want this over now.

When word comes of his location, I load up and step into the dining room, where they are all working.

Their eyes drag down my body, which is strapped with weapons, and Kane’s eyebrow arches. “Either you’re about to flirt with us or someone is going to die.”

“Silly man, I can do both.” I smirk as I toss a bag on the table. “Your weapons. Let’s go, hotties. Team Murder Bros, roll out.”

“Did she just try to quote Transformers?” Zayn asks, and I’m happy to see the light back in his eyes. I warned him that if he avoided me again, I would tie him up in my bedroom and force him to watch every single Barbie movie ever created.

Neo simply grins as he looks in the bag, his eyes widening. “Are we going to war?”

“I like to be prepared. There is no such thing as too many weapons. Chop-chop, children.” Turning away, I whistle as I head out to the car where Dodge is waiting, his sunglasses in place.

“It’s a fifteen-minute drive to his current location,” he says, his eyes rising to the setting sun. “We’ll be there just after dark. I’ll make sure we cut the lights and engines so you can go on foot to have the element of surprise.”

“I love it when hot men are also smart.” I pat his cheek, and he recoils, his head dropping in a bow.

I turn, expecting Kane, but Neo is behind me.

His eyes are colder than I have ever seen, and his face is twisted into an expression like he’s facing an enemy as he glares at Dodge.

He slows his walk until he’s behind me, and I can feel his heat.

Everyone around us drops to their knees, rounding their shoulders in fear.

The world is silent, even the birds quieting their songs.

Sometimes, I forget they are Sais. Neo always seems so calm and, well, normal for this family, but one look at him now and there is no mistaking what he is—a predator.

Instead of fear like it produces in the others, my stomach clenches and my cunt flutters in memory as his deadly eyes land on me and lock me in place. “Do not flirt with our staff, Bexy, unless you want their deaths on your hands.”

“He’s been with you for years,” I scoff, turning to him.

His hand darts out and grabs my throat. I let him.

I could have moved, we both know it, but I didn’t.

His nostrils flare as he tips my head back.

His voice is quiet and so fucking lethal when he says, “And I would miss him, but I would still kill him. Remember that next time. You do not play with what is ours, and you are ours.” Letting me go, he goes to step past me, and my irritation flares.

I won’t let them walk all over me. I will never belong to another person again.

I have to remind him of that, so I kick the backs of his legs out, taking him by surprise.

I hear his guards gasp, but none move to stop me.

I’ve heard whispers, but now I know it’s true.

They were warned that if any of them harm me or even look at me wrong, they will die a horrible death.

It seems the Sais are determined to protect me, but they forget I don’t need protection.

Grabbing Neo’s hair, I yank his head back until his cold eyes are on me as I tower above him now.

Fire burns in their icy depths, which are alight with desire and obsession.

It’s a look no man should ever wear because of it’s devastating effects, but he doesn’t seem to care who’s watching.

He eyes me like he’s waiting for me to devour him and would enjoy every second.

My hackles are up. How many times did Butcher call me his pet and claim me like that? Maybe that’s why I do it, or maybe I just like pushing them as far as they can go.

Leaning down, I tighten my hold on his hair and watch his eyes widen, his lips parting in a pant. “Bex,” he rasps, and the shortened, familiar version of my name only makes my eyes narrow more.

“I think you need to be reminded of who really belongs to whom.” I let go, and he jerks forward before spinning to me as I step back a couple of feet.

I cross my arms. “Why don’t you show them?

I’m not yours, Sai, but you’re mine. Crawl to me and I’ll accept that.

Crawl to me and I’ll let you into my bed for however long I want before I get bored.

If you get up and storm away, I will never touch you again. ”

I wait as he observes me, thoughts passing through his eyes. He knows I’m serious. I don’t make idle threats. I can feel his brothers behind me, but I ignore them. It’s his choice. Either he concedes and completes the humiliating task I’ve set or he will never have me again.

He starts toward me but freezes when I snap in irritation.

“I said crawl, not walk,” I order as I step back and wait.

He’s a Sai brother. He might not be the family leader, but he runs this city, and everyone knows it.

He’s one of the three most powerful and dangerous men in the area.

People have disappeared for a simple look or word, and I am ordering him to crawl to me.

Anyone else would die, but I’m not anyone else.

I tap my foot impatiently. “Now,” I snap.

His eyes lock on me, making this something intimate.

When he sinks to his knees, I fight my shock, but he knows, his lips kicking up at the edges in satisfaction as he drops to his hands and starts to crawl toward me.

Despite him there on his knees, we both know who’s in charge, and it irritates me more.

“Look away!” Kane barks sharply, and I hear the guards turn away, but neither Neo nor I spare them a look.

We are locked in a battle of wills until he reaches me.

His hands slide up my legs as he kneels, his head level with my stomach, and then he releases me from his gaze, purposely submitting and losing.

For me.

It’s silent.

No one else would know, but I do.

He just relented his control to me.

“Well?” he murmurs, burying his head in my stomach so it raises my shirt. He licks my bare skin, making me gasp. He doesn’t seem to care about the guns and knives strapped to me as he rubs against me like an overgrown cat. “Looks like you can’t get rid of me now.”

His eyes meet mine again, and I know he’s right. I won, but at what cost?

“I’ll crawl too!” Zayn cuts in, his voice chipper and teasing, and the tension breaks.

A guard chuckles before coughing to cover it, and I know he did it on purpose.

Kane leads this family, and Neo is the backbone, but Zayn is the heart.

He keeps everyone together and happy. I wonder if he chose that or if he feels pressure to be the calmer, funnier brother to keep the peace.

I’ll have to check.

Grabbing Neo’s chin, I drag him up to his feet and pat his cheek.

“Fine, your choice. You look good when you crawl. I’ll remember that for later.

” I step around him and into Kane. I expect anger and retribution.

Nobody humiliates his family, not even someone he is sleeping with.

I’ve heard rumors of the last person he was fucking.

She ordered Zayn to do something, thinking she was the woman of the house, and before her sentence was even finished, she was on her ass outside, and he tore her life apart until she had nothing left.

He wants me, but when it comes to his family, he is a completely different animal. Is that why I did it? Was I hoping he would turn on me so I could escape and push these feelings down without consequence?

I wait like a soldier going to battle. I feel Neo and Zayn step to my side as if ready to leap in front of me and take the words like bullets.

“Brother,” Neo begins.

He slices his hand through the air, and Neo falls silent.

Kane and I stare each other down, but then his lips tilt in a smile.

“Remember what you just said, hellion, and remember what I told you. What one has, we all have. That means we’re yours now.

” Stepping closer, he caresses my cheek softly, but the deadly knowledge of how easily he can kill with that hand turns me on, and he knows it.

“Remember, you will protect this family as if you were me, including my brother’s dignity.

” It’s a small reprimand, but not what I was expecting.

“Only until I’m bored, remember?” I snap, feeling like I lost this round.

“If you say so, hellion, though we all know what you claim, you claim for good.” He turns and heads to the car, looking back at me.

“Weren’t we in a hurry?” He holds the door and waits.

Tossing him a glare, I stomp past him and slip inside, wishing like hell I’d never slept with any of these crazy bastards.

I should know better than to feed the animals.

I try to focus on business and where we are going, ignoring their looks. Zayn’s leg is pressed against mine, but his other bounces restlessly. Kane is checking his gun across from me, and Neo is still watching me hungrily.

“So, where are we going? Who are we killing?” Zayn asks, breaking the silence. “Is it war? Are we your little assassin slaves tonight?”

“Would you kill my enemies without me asking?” I ask.

“Sure.” No hesitation in sight. “Where you go, we go. So who is it?”

“Not my enemy, yours,” I admit. “I found the mole and got his location. He’s been lingering there for about an hour, hence the speeding.”

“What’s his name?” Kane rumbles, our previous interaction forgotten in the face of business.

I meet his gaze head-on, almost falling into the darkness of those orbs. “Would it matter if I told you? Would you know it?”

“Try me,” he demands.
