Chapter 54

Two months later . . .

“Itook a bullet for you,” I grumble in annoyance as the doctor cleans the wound.

It was a through and through, and it didn’t cause much damage since it hit my arm, but Kane is glaring at me.

Zayn is at my side, holding my other hand, while Neo strokes my hair.

I don’t bother telling them I’ve been patched up many times before because they don’t care.

Even the slight hint of my pain puts them in a tizzy.

I once stubbed my toe and they called the fucking doctor. They are insane.

“Baby, you are the reason we were being shot at,” Zayn teases, but it’s soft.

“So? I still took a bullet,” I snarl. He was aiming at Kane.

“You’re right, baby. You’re so right.” He nods as we all look at Kane.

“You’re grounded,” he growls. I know it’s all out of concern for me, but I narrow my eyes to match his glare. “I mean it, hellion. You started a fight with a group of assassins. What were you thinking?”

“I was bored, and I wanted to see who would win,” I mutter, but then I point at him with my good hand. “And you don’t get to ground me. Try it and I’ll destroy the house so there’s nothing to ground me to.”

“Bexley,” he warns.

“Kane,” I snap.

“Alright, alright, what’s done is done,” their father says as he wags his finger at me. “No more playing tag with assassins.” He grins at Taylor. “Come on, dear, let’s finish our game of chess. I’m sure with Bexley’s teaching, you will win against me one day.”

Taylor nods, glaring at me. “Grounded,” she mouths, but she follows him out.

Lauren and Tommy are playing in the garden with Dodge, and I watch through the window as Taylor waves at him, stopping to chat.

He grins, something he’s started to do more, and always at her.

I suspect they are fucking, but every time I bring it up, she hits me.

I’ll find out one day. I put cameras in his room, so we’ll see.

I don’t know how it happened, the sneaky bastards, but I’m living with them.

I blame Taylor and Lauren. The brothers must have gotten to them, and before I knew it, I had my own room, which they spend more time in than their own.

Taylor and Lauren have their own wing and are loving life.

They are spoiled rotten, the traitors. I still have my house, and I stay there when they annoy me, but it’s become normal to come here before I even realize it. After all, my family is here.

“All done. You’ll be fine in a few days,” the doc declares, and the brothers remain silent until he’s gone, then Kane sighs, pinching his nose.

“You’ll be the death of me, hellion,” he grumbles.

Popping to my feet, I kiss his cheek as I walk by to watch Taylor lose. “But it’s so much fun.” I leave them to it, escaping before they can remember they are mad at me for getting hurt.

As I head outside to find my sister, I look back to see Kane smiling, even as he’s shaking his head, and I grin.

I fought tooth and nail when they dragged me here to live with them, but I’ll admit it’s fun.

I even told them I loved them last night.

It was during sex, so at least there’s that, but they won’t let me live it down.

If they carry on, I’ll have to kill one of them to make a point, or maybe I’ll let them get away with it.

I have a reputation to uphold, after all, but they might be the exception to my rules.

Not that I’ll let them know that.

The door bursts open, and I meet Kane’s worried gaze as he raises an eyebrow in question.

“Settle our argument. Your brother thinks that Godzilla with no arms or legs would win against King Kong with no eyes or ears.”

He strokes his jaw as he thinks, and I tread closer. “King Kong,” he states.

“Thank you!” I yell before there’s a cough. Craning my neck, I peek at his screen to see rows of people reflected back. “Oops, were you in a meeting? Hi, business people.”

Chuckling, he drags me onto his lap. “Stay while I finish.”

Huffing, I settle in, but I zone out until I can’t take it anymore. “This is boring,” I mutter, expecting him to ignore me, but he leans around me, his voice sharp.

“Meeting over. We’ll conclude next week.”

“But, sir, we just started,” someone begins before he ends the call and turns me.

“You’re bored? Want to go kill people with me instead?”

“No, I like this outfit. I don’t want to get blood on it.” I sigh as Neo and Zayn follow me into the office and sit down, an idea coming to mind. “There are other ways to fill boredom though.”

“I thought you liked your outfit,” Kane scoffs, but he’s already reaching for me as I dance out of his reach.

“Well, duh, I’ll take it off.” I stare at them, my brow furrowed. “I think I’m in love with you—not because of orgasms or in the moment confessions, but I love you,” I admit before I slam my mouth shut, my eyes wide as I look between them, horrified at what slipped out.

“We know, baby,” Zayn says softly. “We don’t need to hear it to know you love us, though it is nice.”

Neo quickly stands and blocks the door, understanding I was about to run. “Uh-uh, no running just because you realized what we all know.”

I turn, ready to throw myself out of the window, but Kane is there, grinning. “You know we love you too, more than life, now let’s show you before you decide to bolt.”

The suckers think they have me cornered. I spin, drive my foot into Zayn’s cock, and leap over him as I hightail it out of the door, knowing they will chase me.

I love them, but I won’t make it easy.
