Chapter 3

Play With Fire

“ C ome on, babe. Don’t you want to play?” Seraphina purrs then pouts.

I don’t. That’s been the problem. For over a month now, I’ve lost all interest in what we’ve had. Seraphina is the only female in a long time who’s been able to withstand my type of play.

We started things a while ago. I tend to bed fire fairies. Fairy women are small and can be quite submission when tamed by the right male. Their passion in bed is enticing as well.

This arrangement made sense back then. However, lately, I’ve been less content and somewhat distracted. The sex isn’t satisfying.

I’d rather be anywhere but here. The problem is that damn temper. Fire fairies are as hot-tempered as I am.

Not that I won’t put Seraphina in her place. As VP, I’d just rather not cause that kind of tension in the clubhouse. My brothers were right; Seraphina isn’t going to let me go until I find my mate.

“Fuck, I’m stuck with this bullshit,” I mumble to myself.

“What was that, my love?”

“Nothing. You should go back down to the main hall. I’m going for a ride,” I say and stand from the throne chair in my bedroom.

“Bradan, I have to leave soon. I need to visit the fairy realm to handle some fairy business. I’ll be going back and forth a lot in the next few months. I’m going to miss you. Can’t we have some playtime before I leave?”

“Not tonight, Sera. I’m not in the mood. I have some things on my mind,” I reply.

She saunters over to me and wraps her arms around me. The sight of her in this skimpy lingerie used to turn me on. Now, the red strings might as well be a firefighter’s gear.

She reaches for my cock and gives it a squeeze over my jeans. Lifting my hand to her mouth, I then push two fingers between her lips. Seraphina’s eyes fill with lust as she sucks on the two digits.

I begin to push her down to her knees. Her chest starts to heave in anticipation. This sight used to turn me on too.

Looking down at her now does nothing for me. Her red hair isn’t as bright and her eyes don’t burn as fiercely as they used to. She looks no different from all the other fire fairies who have wanted to throw themselves at me.

I pull my hand back and stroke the side of her cheek. “Get up, Seraphina. I will see you when you return,” I command and turn to leave the room.

That pull I’ve been feeling for the last two months begins to hum through me. Without a thought, I move to the garage for my bike. The feeling in my gut already tells me where I’m going.

It’s this diner I can’t seem to stay away from. I know not why I’m drawn there. However, the feeling is always so strong.

Getting to the garage on the lower level, I head straight for my hog. I throw my leg over the machine and bring it to life. Over the years, this feeling has become as familiar as wearing this Immortal Iron Brothers cut on my back.

My oldest brother is smart. Starting the MC has benefited not just us but supers as well. The supernatural community thrives under the system we’ve built. The Immortal Iron Brothers brotherhood is something we can be proud of.

“Now if only we could find our mates and break this bond,” I mumble as I fly through the portal onto the human streets above.

One of these days, we won’t have to hide. I haven’t lost hope. I refuse to believe we will remain under the rule of the Ricci family. I will find my mate.

Taylor

“Hey, Taylor. Can I get you anything else, hon?” Helen, my favorite waitress, asks as she starts her shift.

I’ve been here all day. It’s my day off. It is either spend the day in the apartment where I wouldn’t be able to hear myself think or spend the day here where I can get some studying done.

“No, Helen. I’m all set for now. Thank you,” I say.

“Honey, you look so tired. Are you getting any rest? You study so hard. Are you still working those two jobs?”

“Yes, ma’am. I have some savings, so I’ll be letting the coffee shop go soon. I need to focus on my last semester. Clinics are going to take up so much of my time.”

“Well, you don’t give up. We’re all rooting for you. I wish I had your courage and determination.”

I smile at her and nod my head. This diner has become like my second home. I started coming here years ago when I first started school.

“Thanks, Helen. I didn’t think I would make it this far. Thanks for putting up with me and my books in your section,” I say.

She gives me a wink. “You tip better than most and I love seeing that pretty face of yours. Besides, you might save my life someday once you become a doctor.”

I laugh. “I don’t know about taking things that far. I’m thanking God for allowing me to get through nursing school.”

“I believe in you. I see a white coat in your future,” she says with a bright smile.

I don’t tell her that at thirty, that dream has sailed. I once dreamed of going to medical school, but I gave that up after struggling to make it through my freshmen and sophomore years. I’ve lost so much time having to go to school part time.

Once I turned eighteen and left foster care, I was on my own. I had to work and go to school part time. I had been determined back then to find a way.

Even with student loans, I couldn’t afford school and the cost of living. As a part-time student, I don’t get as much funding. If I were to go full time, I wouldn’t have enough money to live on, which makes working two jobs a necessity.

As a result, I am only able to take one or two classes a semester. It took so long to get out of my freshmen year. I had wanted to give up plenty of times, but I could never bring myself to do it.

“Oh, my God, now that is a tree I’d like to climb,” Helen says under her breath.

Helen is no spring chicken, so her words take me by surprise. I turn to see what she’s talking about. My mouth falls open as the huge red-haired biker walks toward us.

He turns his gaze to me and we lock eyes. His amber eyes stand out as much as his red hair does. His gaze is so intense. I feel like I’m set on fire.

I’ve never seen a man with such fiery red hair with a beard to match. The right side of his hair is cut into a low fade as the rest is swept over to the left side, falling in long, thick waves.

My fingers itch to run through his hair to see if it’s as soft as it looks. I shouldn’t have such thoughts, not about this man. He looks like you should give him a wide berth at all times.

As I can’t tear my eyes away from him, I begin to squirm in my seat. His lips twitch into a small grin. His height is imposing, but that’s not where the intimidation is coming from. There’s something in his aura that says don’t fuck with him.

That is until I lick my lips and his smile grows. He flicks his eyes over me and breaks into a full-blown smile. That’s when a dimple pops in his cheek, drawing my attention to the piercing there. I notice he has one in the center of his beard as well, right beneath his lip.

God, this is one sexy-ass biker. He walks by Helen and takes a seat two booths away from mine. He’s facing me with that intense stare fixed on me. I finally tear my gaze from his and look back down at my books before me.

I never have time for relationships and this guy doesn’t look like he’d take me to a movie and buy me popcorn. Nope, he looks like he’d take me to his bed and set the sheets on fire. My virgin ass wouldn’t know what to do with all that.

“You let me know if you get hungry. I’ll bring you a burger and some fries,” Helen says as she starts for the biker’s table.

I want to tell her I need water, lots of water. I’m suddenly very parched. Glancing up through my lashes, I find he’s still staring at me. I shake my head and quickly look back down at my books.
