Chapter 6 #3

Bianca’s expression immediately darkened with anger. The smugness on her face twisted into irritation as she stepped closer in her heels.

“You know exactly what I want,” Bianca said sharply, stepping closer.

Amara blinked innocently.

“No,” she answered casually. “Explain it to me like I’m a child.”

The mocking tone made Bianca’s face twist even harder.

“You’re divorcing him anyway, you pathetic loser,” she hissed. “So stop hanging around him already.”

She folded her arms tighter, her chin lifting arrogantly.

“Elias and I are a perfect match. Didn’t you see the pictures? I had them published on purpose so you’d see how much fun we had together in Australia.”

A smug smile spread across her face.

“And yet you’re still pretending you saw nothing. Don’t you have any shame?”

Amara stared at her silently for a few seconds.

Then her lips slowly curled upward.

The more Bianca kept talking proudly about herself, the more amused Amara looked.

And suddenly—

Amara burst out laughing.

She bent slightly at the waist, one hand gripping the car door as laughter escaped her uncontrollably.

Bianca’s face fell instantly.

The anger on her face deepened when she realized Amara wasn’t hurt at all.

She was laughing at her.

“What’s so funny?” Bianca snapped angrily.

But Amara only looked at her like she was watching something ridiculous.

“You,” Amara said through her laughter, pointing at her lightly.

Bianca’s face instantly turned red with humiliation.

But before she could explode, Amara casually opened the car door and slipped into the driver’s seat like she didn’t have a care in the world.

Bianca remained standing outside the car, glaring at her furiously through the window.

Amara rolled the window down slightly.

“Thanks for the 9 PM comedy show,” she said cheerfully.

Then, before Bianca could respond—

she pressed the button and the window slid back up directly in Bianca’s face.

A second later, the car pulled away from the curb and drove off.

Bianca remained standing there alone in the street, her face twisted with humiliation and fury as she watched the car disappear.

Felix checked the time on his watch as he stood inside Elias’s living room.

It was barely six in the morning.

The sky outside was still dim, and exhaustion still lingered heavily in Felix’s eyes.

Across from him, Elias sat on the couch fully dressed in a perfectly tailored suit, looking fully awake for someone who had barely slept. He leaned forward casually with his elbows resting on his knees, his attention fixed on the phone in Felix’s hand.

Felix glanced at the screen showing Amara’s contact before looking back at him.

“Mr. Creed,” he said carefully, “don’t you think this is a little too early to call Mrs. Creed? She might not even be awake yet.”

Elias straightened slightly against the couch, his expression turning arrogant.

“I don’t have time to waste,” he replied coldly. “If she doesn’t answer the phone, that’s her problem.”

He glanced at the phone again before continuing flatly, “And if she complains later, tell her my schedule is packed for the next six months and I won’t have time to go deal with divorce procedures.”

Felix nearly rolled his eyes.

The man had forced him to drag himself out of bed at six in the morning just to call his wife—

and now he was sitting there pretending he didn’t care.

Still, Felix wisely kept his mouth shut.

He pressed the call button.

He fully expected Amara not to answer at this hour.

It was six in the morning! Any normal person would still be asleep.

But unexpectedly—

The call connected after only the second ring.

Felix’s brows lifted slightly in surprise as he immediately glanced toward Elias.

“Hello…”

Amara’s voice came through the phone soft, groggy, and thick with sleep the moment she answered the call.

The moment Elias heard her voice through the speaker, his posture changed immediately.

He straightened on the couch at once, his lazy position disappearing completely as his attention locked onto the phone.

Felix cleared his throat awkwardly.

“Mrs. Creed, good morning,” he said politely.

He shifted slightly where he stood, clearly uncomfortable about waking her up this early in the morning.

“I wanted to speak with you regarding the divorce proceedings with Mr. Creed.”

There was rustling on the other side of the line. The sound of blankets shifting.

Then Amara’s sleepy voice came again, rougher this time.

“It’s Miss Hawk now,” she corrected softly. “Don’t call me Mrs. Creed.”

The atmosphere in the room changed immediately.

Elias’s brows snapped together hard.

The muscles in his jaw visibly tightened.

A dark displeased look crossed his face so quickly Felix almost regretted putting the phone on speaker.

She used to glare at anyone who dared call her “Miss Hawk” after the marriage.

And now?

Now she was correcting people herself.

Even before the divorce was finalized?

Felix immediately sensed the dangerous shift in Elias’s mood, but he forced himself to continue professionally.

“Miss… Hawk,” he corrected awkwardly. “Can you come to finalize the divorce today? Mr. Creed is available exactly at nine in the morning, and after that his schedule is—”

Before he could even finish speaking—

Amara’s excited voice suddenly burst through the phone.

“Of course!” she said immediately.

The sleepy tone vanished completely.

Her voice became cheerful so suddenly even Felix blinked in surprise.

“I’ll be there exactly at nine. I’ll meet you at the courthouse.”

There was a rustling sound again, followed by her laughing lightly.

“This is such great news I don’t even think I can go back to sleep anymore.”

Her voice was no longer sleepy at all.

She sounded fully awake now.

Actually excited.

And with every word she said, Elias’s face grew darker.

His jaw clenched tighter and tighter, irritation practically radiating off him.

Before either of them could respond—

The call suddenly disconnected.

Amara had hung up.

Silence filled the living room.

Felix lowered the phone and carefully glanced toward Elias.

The living room suddenly felt dangerously quiet.

Then Elias let out a harsh scoff.

“What the hell is she so happy about?” he snapped coldly. “Is divorcing me some kind of life achievement now? Why does she sound like she won the lottery?”

“Maybe she’s not fully awake yet,” Felix said with an awkward laugh, trying to save the situation. “It’s only six in the morning. Most people aren’t exactly in their right mind at this hour.”

***

Amara sat upright so fast the blankets tangled around her waist.

The sleepiness disappeared from her face instantly. She grabbed her phone from the nightstand quickly and pressed the screen awake before quickly scrolling through her recent calls.

The moment she found Jasper’s name, she pressed call.

The first time, he didn’t answer.

Amara immediately called again without hesitation, bouncing her leg anxiously against the mattress. Her brows pulled together impatiently as she waited for him to pick up.

This time, after several seconds, the call connected.

A groggy voice came from the other side, thick with sleep.

“Yeah… what is it?” Jasper grumbled with a yawn. There was rustling on his end, like he had rolled over in bed. “Even my eyeballs aren’t awake yet, dude.”

A loud groan followed.

“And why are you calling me? I’m literally in the other room.”

“Jasper,” Amara said quickly, almost breathless as she pushed her hair away from her face, “Elias just called me. He agreed to the divorce. I have to be at the courthouse at nine.”

There was complete silence for exactly one second.

Then suddenly—

A loud thump echoed through the call.

Followed by hurried footsteps.

Amara barely had time to blink before her bedroom door flew open so hard it slammed against the wall.

She jumped violently and instantly yanked the blanket to her chest.

“Jasper!”

He stood at the doorway breathing heavily, his hair sticking up in every direction, his shirt half twisted like he had thrown it on in the dark. His face still looked sleepy, but his eyes were suddenly wide awake with shock.

“Are you serious?” he asked, stepping fully into the room.

Amara nodded quickly.

The second he saw her expression, Jasper gasped dramatically and slapped both hands over his mouth.

“Finally!”

Then his entire face lit up.

“Do not worry,” he declared loudly. “I will personally prepare the greatest divorce revenge dress this world has ever seen.”

Before she could even answer, he spun around so fast his shirt nearly flew with him.

“I’m calling the boutique!” he shouted while marching down the hallway at full speed. “They better deliver in an hour!”

Amara stared after him for a second before laughter escaped her lips. She dropped back slightly against the headboard, smiling so hard her cheeks hurt.

For the first time in a long while, she felt light.

The next few hours passed in a blur.

By the time they reached the courthouse, the sun was already high in the sky. Amara was dressed flawlessly, her makeup soft but elegant, her entire appearance glowing with confidence.

Thankfully, the divorce procedure didn’t take long since they were first in line.

And by eleven, Amara and Elias were already walking out of the courthouse with divorce papers in their hands.

Amara stepped outside beside him, practically bouncing with every step. The sunlight hit her face, making her smile look even brighter as she tightly held the papers against her chest.

Meanwhile, Elias looked like someone had informed him the world was ending.

There was a dark cloud sitting heavily on his face as he walked beside her with one hand in his pocket.

And somehow—

Seeing her smiling so brightly only made his mood worse.

Amara, however, paid absolutely no attention to him.

Amara stopped walking once they reached the stairs and turned toward him with sparkling eyes.

“Thank you for making this easy,” she said brightly.

Her voice was cheerful enough to make Elias’s jaw tighten.
