Chapter 30 Mikail
MIKAIL
After being trapped in hell, sparring and losing against my demons for the last few days, she yanked me back toward life. I don’t even bother questioning how she could do it. She’s my beacon of light. The strength to my weakness. Her power over me overshadows everything else.
The first rays of sunshine poke at my lids, waking me up. Stretching, I feel invigorated after sleeping through the night after six sleepless ones.
Glancing to my side, my chest warms. She’s in my bed. By my side. Her place. The only woman for me. The only woman I want to make mine in every sense of the word.
She’s still fast asleep, lying naked with a sheet draped over her ass, tangled between her legs.
I caress along her back, and she moans my name as she slowly rises from her slumber, greeting me with the biggest grin before a shadow clouds her gorgeous face.
I know she’s terrified of the implications of our relationship, but the secrecy will end. Soon.
I refuse to live without her. But if a few more days in secrecy will help ease her mind for what we’ll face then fine by me. I am more than ready to profess my undying love to her.
“Morning, baby girl,” I whisper and lean in for a kiss.
“Let’s stay in bed for the rest of the day,” she suggests, kissing me back with just as much ardor.
Once I make her mine for good, we won’t leave this bed for a long time, but we still have some hurdles to overcome until then.
Her stomach growls, shifting my priorities. “Let’s get my woman fed first.”
She bats her lashes at me. “Cum?”
I swear my cock, which was already hard and ready, jerks at her response.
“Jesus, fuck, you’re killing me here,” I groan.
My perfect angel with a dirty mouth and heavenly holes.
She giggles and rolls over my chest. Straddling my thighs, she supports herself on my chest and grinds her pussy up and down my cock.
“Finish what you started, you minx,” I say, and cross my arms behind my back to enjoy the view.
Gripping the base of my cock, she lifts herself up a bit. She slides down my length so maddeningly slow, stirring a pleasure so intense that my vision blackens for a moment.
It’s hot as fuck seeing her take what she wants, riding me.
Her pretty tits bounce with every move, hypnotizing me. I lean over to suckle on her cherry nipples, giving them both the same attention as I alternate.
She loves when I suck on her nipples, her long moans only adding more fuel to our passionate joining. Holding her waist, I scoot up and fuck her until we both come with the name of the other falling from our mouths.
Kissing her neck, I scoop her in my arms and bring her to the bathroom where we wash each other. In our bubble, time, challenges, and the forbidden doesn’t disturb the serenity.
After redressing, we have breakfast together, and she looks out the window, “I hate that I have to go back.”
“Say the word and I’ll keep you.”
She tilts her head, sighing. “What if loving me destroys everything?”
“A world that wouldn’t accept you in my life is none I want.”
I find her hand on the table, and she seeks my eyes. “Tell me it’s going to be all right.”
Lifting her hand to my lips, I pepper soft kisses on the inside. “I just know our love is worth it.”
She nods, the doubts clearing from her face. “I never thought that this would be possible.”
“Baby girl, I’ve always loved you.”
“I know,” she sighs. “But I wanted romantic love and a relationship. And for years, that seemed impossible.”
I palm my chest, swearing. “I promise I’ll make it up to you for the rest of my life.”
“You better,” she beams, and we finish our breakfast.
In the car, she plays on her leg as if it’s a piano, humming.
Glancing at her, her face appears peaceful and content. Just like I want her.
The drive passes too fast, and once I park in front of the mansion, she hurriedly slips out as if that will ease the chances of getting caught.
If I am here, I might as well visit my best friend.
I park in front of their house and walk around the back, seeing my sister on the chaise lounge with Kill by her side. She sips her coffee, eyeing me knowingly.
“What?” I bite out.
She rolls her eyes at me and places the cup down. “That doesn’t sound defensive at all, and I haven’t said anything.”
Approaching her, I cross my arms over my chest. “Do it so we can get it over with.”
Her silver eyes bore into mine, not even a bit intimidated by me. “Tell Enzo. And I’d better be in the damn room. I need to keep my husband from killing his best friend.”
I groan. “That’s not my decision. It’s hers.”
She rubs her temple. “Enzo might have preferred to delude himself into thinking you have a sibling relationship, but with recent events, that bubble threatens to burst.”
“I can’t stay away from her any longer,” I confess.
She shoots up and gets in my face. “At the cost of your life, your empire, your brotherhood, and organization?”
“No price is high enough. I’d forsake it all for her,” I say earnestly.
She nods. “I accept that answer. Never upset her again or I am going to torture you. Slowly, brother.”
“I won’t,” I grumble.
“Good. I don’t want Kill to go for your balls. Something tells me Dahlia might have a problem with that.”
“Thank you for your concern, little sister,” I say, sarcasm thick in my voice.
She huffs, not liking the reminder that I am the Pakhan and the older sibling. But my sister does whatever she fucking wants anyway. A lesson my best friend learned the hard way.
“I’ll keep your secret, but I won’t lie to my husband. I love you both, but if he asks me point blank, I’ll tell him the truth.”
I dip my chin in acknowledgement, understanding where she comes from. “So please, the sooner you tell him, the better. After Enzo surely blows a gasket, he’ll realize that there could never be someone better for Dahlia than you.”
I arch a brow, incredulous at her conviction. “You called me a butcher in a suit and said that you have no idea what she sees in me.”
She waves me off. “The appeal of the domesticated monster. It’s an archetype, brother. We women are suckers for that. Cue how I became a wife.”
I chuckle, savoring a few more minutes with my sister. We’ll never have a normal brother-sister relationship. The past made sure of that, but our bond is just as strong.
“He will want to know everything.” Her gaze softens, palming my arm and giving it a little squeeze. “You did what you had to do. I’m proud of you.”
But right then, Enzo comes out, sizing me up. “Gracing us with a visit? Did you crawl out of the hole you dug yourself into?”
“Yes.”
“Good. We have work to do.”
“Sensitive as always,” I mumble.
“Hungry?” he asks, dismissing my jab.
“No.”
“Good,” he grins. “I only cook for my wife.”
I make a gagging sound, but the whipped idiot ignores me and sweeps his wife in for a long kiss.
I can’t even pull the brother card. I am too guilty and not at all repentant about doing the same to him, so I shut up.
“Do you think she’s better today?” he asks Calla, who glances at me.
“I’m sure she is.”
Then she walks with Kill toward the main mansion.
I smirk, thinking how terrified she was of this dog that I swear now listens only to her command. Enzo’s plan of scaring her with him blew up epically in his damn face.
He goes inside, returning with another coffee, and we sit around the table, across from each other.
“The gathering is next month. If one motherfucker pulls something, I will lose my shit,” he looks ahead as if preparing to murder them before it comes to the meeting.
While I shoot first and ask questions later, my friend’s patience has grown thinner since he got married. I don’t have to wonder why. He simply wants more time with his wife. I feel him because that’s all I crave too.
“Nothing will happen. The only people they’re wary of is us.”
We have an annual meeting of the extended families. All the top-tier people in the Bratva and the Cosa Nostra come together. It’s eight people who gather for an entire weekend and we discuss logistics, numbers, and plan for the future.
He cocks his head, his eyes boring into mine as if wanting to uncover my deepest secrets. “Do you know why Dahlia decided against going on tour and moving to New York?”
I hold his gaze, firm in my position. “It’s her choice, and I will stand by her. What we want for her and what she wants for herself don’t align.”
He cocks his head. “Since you believe you know her better, what do you think she wants?”
I fell into his trap like a complete moron. I could kick my ass for my stupidity. But it’s just another sign that I want to rush to the part where I can make her mine.
I stare him down. “I know her better, Enzo. It’s just how it is.”
“You would have been a better brother to her.”
I drag a hand down my face. “Our relationship is more complex than that.”
He arches a brow, studying my face. “Relationship, huh?”
I glare at him. “Fuck you, asshole.”
He waves his hand through the air, eyeing me intently. “Tell me more about this complex relationship.”
He’s really trying to piss me off. I pin him with a death glare. “I love her.”
His eyes darken as he bends over the table. “How?”
Just then, my sister and Dahlia appear, and the hard stare Enzo sends my way would incinerate a lesser man.
She smiles at me furtively, but he’s more alert now, so he catches it, just as she instinctively comes to sit next to me.
He’s about to say something when Calla cuts him off. “Take the day off and let’s do something together, just the two of us. Please.”
I’ve never appreciated having a sister more than right now. But she’s well aware that the secret will blow up fast.
“What does my woman want to do?” he asks, enraptured by her.
We’ve made enough money to sustain ourselves for a few lifetimes because work gets secondary with each passing day.
As I watch Dahlia, I offer her my hand under the table, and she slips hers in mine.
Yeah, I have no doubt. She’s worth it.
