Chapter 13 #2
I accepted it and nodded, stepping out of the way to let her in.
“You answered the door with no shirt on,” I heard Xiah say, which made me shift my eyes to the screen at the same time Oni swung her eyes to the side.
“Babe, bring the suits.” I stuck my head out of the door to find a big ass dude holding two garment bags with one hand while he had a phone to his ear. He glanced at me and offered a nod but didn’t move right away.
“Sorry, I told him not to take the call because I knew he was going to be tied up.”
“Yaakov. I know good and damn well you’re not ignoring me. Who is there and why did you answer the door with no shirt on?”
See this was the shit I was talking about. We were only hanging out and fucking but the possession was there on both sides. I was claiming and damn sure didn’t mind being claimed which had me about to clear this up so Xiah wouldn’t be in a fucked up mood.
I smirked and glanced at my phone screen. “She’s the stylist who did my suits. They had to be altered so she’s dropping them off and I was about to get in the shower which is why I don’t have a shirt on.”
I’m explaining shit like she’s mine and I’m hers…
“Well you damn sure better have pants on.” I chuckled.
“He definitely has pants on,” Oni said from the doorway. She was still waiting on ol’ boy who was with her.
“Why is she talking to me? I wasn’t talking to her,” Xiah’s little stubborn ass said, frowning like she was ready to throw hands through the phone.
“Sorry about that.” Ol’ boy walked in and pointed to the garment bags. “Where do you need these?”
“I’ll take them.” He handed them over and I nodded my thanks before draping them over my arm, which made Oni’s face tense.
“Those are steamed. Can you just lay them flat over there or hang them in a closet?”
“Oni, chill, that’s his shit now. He’s good.”
She cut her eyes at ol’ boy. “My husband doesn’t run my business, please lay those flat or hang them up.”
He chuckled and kissed her cheek. “Aight, you delivered that shit, now let’s go.”
“Sinita said she double checked the measurements so you shouldn’t have any issue, but if you do…” Oni stated, only to be cut off by her husband.
“Don’t call her. Call whoever is next in line on her team.”
“Krew…” she warned and the look he returned had a smile blossoming on her face.
“There’s a number on the card I gave you to reach my emergency staff if you need anything. I’m officially off duty with my company for the next couple days so we can find a realtor and get a house locked down before I start my next big job. I’ll be traveling with my new line for two months.”
“You need a realtor?” I asked, cutting my eyes to my phone. I couldn’t keep buying properties to keep her pockets laced but I could damn sure send business her way.
“We do; you have one?”
“Yeah, I just purchased two spots from her. I can give you her information.”
“Yep, we’ll take it,” Oni said, smiling over her shoulder at her husband. “One less thing I have to think about means one less thing for him to hang over my head.”
“How the fuck am I hanging shit over your head when buying a new house was your idea, O?”
I smirked but kept my thoughts to myself. “Her name is Xiah Perry. She’s with Crescent Point Realtors.”
“I know them.” Oni frowned a bit then turned to her husband. “I think that’s the agency Kinsley owns. I forgot all about them. That definitely works.”
“Bet, if you’re cool with it, I am too,” he asserted.
“Thank you, I’ll reach out.”
I nodded and Oni removed her phone and started typing something.
“Royals, right?” Krew looked at me and I nodded. “Aight, we’re looking for a championship this season. We got close last year but shit didn’t work out. The city is counting on y’all. I saw some clips of you playing overseas. You’re nice. Adding you to the roster was a good look for the team.”
“’Preciate that.”
“So you can talk sports but I can’t talk business?”
“The only business you’re talking for the rest of the week involves me keeping a smile on your face. Now go.” He gripped her chin and dropped a kiss that had her smiling big as shit and leaning into him.
“I have floor seats, so I’ll see you in blue in a couple weeks. Also come by Flavor and I’ll hook you up with a VIP section anytime you want,” Krew said coolly.
“For sure.”
I wasn’t big on cigars but I heard his spot was pretty chill and had a laid back vibe so I would check him out. They left and I directed my attention back to Xiah after I laid the garment bags over the back of the sofa and headed back to the bathroom.
“You cool?”
“I’m fine but that’s still a woman and you shouldn’t have answered with your shirt off.”
“Aight, I’ll work on that but I also just got you a potential sale, so can I get a pass?”
Them pretty ass eyes rolled. “If I get the sale, then you can have the pass, and thank you.”
I smirked. “You’re welcome. What you need though?” I leaned against the counter staring at her pretty face.
“Can you help me pick which dress? I’m not sure what the vibe is for tonight.”
“There isn’t a vibe. I trust you to do your thing.”
Sovoya and Van both had been blowing up my phone with all types of suggestions and rules about tonight for me to hand over to Xiah.
I wasn’t going to make her feel like she had to meet a standard.
I wanted her to be comfortable by my side tonight and not second guessing everything about her look or how to act.
I did tell her it was formal though, so she would at least have a starting point to decide what her look would be.
Honestly, I didn’t give a damn what she wore as long as she was with me.
“Well, I can’t do my thing if I don’t know the vibe or your expectations. So pick one of these please.”
She turned the camera to a wall where a door was open and two dresses were hanging on the back. One was strapless and looked like it was long enough to touch the floor, fitted with a split on the side. The other had see-through long sleeves with some fluffy skirt thing at the bottom.
Yeah, I needed to figure my shit out because the first thought I had was which one would make her look good but not so damn good that other niggas would keep eyes on her.
Damn sure not the fitted one…
“The short one,” I said quickly.
“You sure?”
“Yeah, I’m sure. You gonna put it on for me?”
“Do you want me to?” She frowned and I nodded.
“Yeah I do but flip the camera so I can see you undress while you change.”
She sucked her teeth hard as fuck and made me laugh. “You don’t want to see me in the dress, you just want me to strip.”
“I’m game for both but seeing you strip is the priority.”
“Goodbye, Kove.”
“You hanging up on me?”
“Weren’t you about to get in the shower?”
“Yeah but I can do that and talk to you. I don’t mind stripping for your pretty ass.”
“Nope, I have stuff to do or you’re gonna have to find another plus one for tonight.”
“Aight, I’ll be there by seven. You gonna be ready?”
“Yes.” She smiled big as hell. “As long as you’re fifteen minutes late.”
“Xiah…”
“I’m playing, I’ll be ready. This is work for you and I’m not going to be the reason you drop the ball on your professional responsibilities,” she said sweetly.
“Yeah, I don’t believe your ass now.”
“I promise.” She blew me a kiss and ended the call. I locked my phone and tossed it on the counter knowing I had some shit to figure out because I was in a whole ass relationship, didn’t know how the fuck I’d gotten here, and had no plans of leaving this space, but I was for sure here.
