Chapter Six

Claire has invited me to another Bears game. Yes!

For the matchup this evening, they’re playing the Edmonton Oilers. It should be an exciting game, as both teams are known for generating a lot of offense.

Of course, that’s fun and all, but my main focus will be on my new obsession—Lennox.

Okay, not new, as he was my main focus during the last game. But it’s gotten more intense.

The guys have been out of town for a string of away games, so I’ve had time to think about him a lot.

Unfortunately, because they’ve been gone, I haven’t had a chance to meet the man.

However, I have a plan for tonight.

Oh, do I ever.

Claire mentioned once that Lennox has a big-ass charcoal gray Lincoln Navigator with tinted windows, sleek black wheels, and all kinds of blacked-out accents and trim.

His teammates tease him all of the time because it’s really his pride and joy. He babies that SUV so much that he even has his own personal parking space in the team garage.

It’s supposedly off in a corner all by itself, and, out of respect for their captain, no one ever steals that spot.

Perfect!

It should be easy for me to find his precious vehicle tonight after the game is over. There’s a guard at the gate, but I know I can sweet-talk my way in. This won’t be the first time I’ve used my feminine wiles to get my way.

And it won’t be the last.

Anyway, once I get past the guard, I’ll locate Lennox’s Navigator and park as close as I can get to it.

Then I’ll wait.

Yeesh, I hope I don’t come off as too stalkerish.

Eh, I’ll take my chances, as I plan to look as cute as possible tonight. I’m curling my blond tresses right now, and my makeup is light but on point.

I thought about buying a jersey with Lennox’s name and number on it, but that seemed a little too over-the-top. Instead, I’ve opted to wear a tight black miniskirt and high suede boots, paired with a generic black-and-violet Bears jersey, sans anyone’s name or number.

Underneath it all, just in case things go exceptionally well with Lennox tonight—which I’m hoping they do—I’m wearing a super-sexy lavender lace and silk bra and panty set.

Setting my curling iron down on the bathroom counter, I do a final once-over in the mirror and smile.

I think I’m ready to get this plan started.

I already set up with Claire that I’ll drive down to the arena alone tonight. I told her I’ll just meet her there.

She didn’t have a problem with that. I think that with the guys having been away for over a week and a half, she’s anxious to get home tonight to spend some quality time with Easton.

Hopefully, if all goes well, I’ll be spending some of my own quality time with hot and sexy Lennox.

Yes, please.

The Bears win the game against Edmonton, and Lennox racks up a goal and two assists.

That man is amazing.

I am so impressed.

After the game, Claire and I say our goodbyes in one of the fan parking lots, and then we go our separate ways.

Well, I get in my flashy blue Acura and start it up, but I wait for my friend to leave before I head out of the lot.

I can’t have Claire catching me driving over to the players’ parking garage, right?

I’m nervous, but I have a good feeling about my plan to meet Lennox.

And that good feeling continues, as once I’m over at the players’ garage, as luck would have it, the attendant who is supposed to be at the entrance isn’t even in his booth.

The mechanical arm is up on the “exit” side, so I just casually cruise right in using that lane.

Yes!

This is going better than I expected it to.

I think it’s a positive sign.

Now I just need to find Lennox’s prized Navigator…

The garage is two levels high, and I have no luck on the first floor. But once I drive up to the second, I immediately spy a charcoal gray, blacked-out vehicle in the far corner that fits the description.

I buzz over to it so quickly it’s not even funny.

Good thing no one is around.

There are a lot of empty parking spots near Lennox’s SUV, but I choose one a few spaces away.

I have to be a little prudent here. What if this all goes sideways and I need to make a quick escape?

I’d hate to have to hop into my car right next to Lennox.

After I park, I cut the engine.

And that’s when the nerves kick in.

What if this is all a big mistake?

I am kind of coming off as a total stalker. I mean, I know what he drives, where he parks. Not to mention, I snuck my way into an off-limits area.

Though that’s not totally on me. The attendant did leave his post.

Maybe his shift was done?

“Does it matter?” I say to my reflection in the rearview mirror.

I shake my head.

No, it doesn’t.

I’m just stalling.

But enough of that crap.

Rolling back my shoulders with a renewed sense of confidence—at least for the moment—I slip my seat belt off and open the car door.

Here we go!

As I stride over to the Navigator, my boot heels clicking loudly on the cement floor, I’m thankful no one is around. It’d be really awkward if I had to explain myself to one of Lennox’s teammates.

Since it’s not overly crowded with cars up here, I’m hoping most of them are parked on the first floor. It seemed crowded down there.

When I reach Lennox’s car, I lean back casually against the driver’s side door. I look all confident, but inside I’m stressing again. Even though I’m a “player” in my own right, I’ve never done anything this bold. I usually wait for the guy I’m interested in to come to me.

But in this case, I have Claire cockblocking me.

Which means I have to take matters into my own hands and make a big move like this.

Still, a part of me is scared that I’m going to make a complete fool of myself.

Maybe I should just go.

I can always think of another way to meet Lennox, right?

Yeah, that sounds good.

I’m set to call this whole nutty plan off, but just as I’m about to push off the door and stride off into the sunset—well, drive off actually—I hear a man clearing his throat.

Jumping away from the SUV, I spin around to face the back, where the sound came from. “Oh shit.”
