Chapter 53

CHAPTER FIFTY-THREE

Big people are fighting. I hear them over the sounds of the shower. It’s a girl and a boy, and I clap my hands over my ears, my body crunching up.

I need to hide. If I stay small enough, they won’t be able to find me.

I get stiff, waiting for them to come kick me.

I have to get smaller and stop breathing. Then they’ll forget why they were mad. They’ll forget, and I can be a big boy again.
