Epilogue
EVAN
T he elaborately decorated room erupts into cheers as Lexi and I walk into the room where our reception is being held. Hand in hand, a new chapter of my life is just beginning as cameras explode around us.
I’ve never felt this damn happy and carefree in my twenty-five years on this earth. I know it’s because of my gorgeous wife standing beside me.
I lean down and whisper in her ear. “It’s been two weeks since my role as your professor ended. And now I have the best title and role of my life—your husband.”
She beams at me with a blindingly white smile. “And I’m officially no longer your student but your wife.” She wraps her arms around me. “Best title ever.”
“Would you two stop being so damn cute?” Sophia yells from the crowd around us. “I don’t have any more tissues.”
Laughing, I pull Lexi tighter against me. “Your best friend is something else.”
“I know. Hopefully, she’ll be Trent’s fiancé soon.”
“Trust me when I say he’d like nothing more.” I rub my nose against hers. “Are you feeling okay about everything?”
“Of course. Huntley and Shane are no longer an issue. We’re in the planning process of building our home. Classes start in a month, and Devyn, Sophia, Londyn, and Skylar are in them. The only thing I’ll miss is seeing you every class period.”
I chuckle. “I think the administration would frown at my wife being my student.”
“I don’t know how in the hell those dumbasses didn’t figure out our relationship this past semester. They must be seriously stupid—” She trails off when she sees the smirk on my face. “I’m not asking.”
“It’s better you don’t. Huntley’s scandal and subsequent disappearance distracted them. They’ll never question it, though. It appears Huntley knew he was on the verge of being caught and fled the country.”
I eye him skeptically. He smirks at me, raising his brows. “Don’t worry, wife. Trent, Ryker, Luca, Zayne, and Jaxson ensured no suspicion will ever be cast our way.”
She sighs, melting against me. “I love our unhinged friends. But I love you the most, Evan Whitmore.”
My heart bangs inside my chest as I lift my wife into my arms, heading for the reception table before our hungry friends riot.
“You’re my forever, bellissima. I love you with every fucking piece of me.”
Her lips meet mine when we reach the table. “Forever.”
“For an eternity.”
