13. Chapter Thirteen
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
MAYLEE
H ow was she going to move this?
Maylee had taken the afternoon off because she was having a desk dropped off at her house. She had planned this several weeks ago, but she had forgotten she wouldn’t be able to move it.
The people who delivered it were nice and got it into her house, but they had other deliveries to make and couldn’t move it to where she wanted it. Which brought her to where she was now.
How was she going to move this?
Maylee had already tried to push it several times and had no luck budging it. She could ask Daddy, but he was at work right now. He was her only option. She knew no one else who could move it.
Maybe she could ask Daddy and he could get some of his coworkers to help him. Though, she would feel bad for taking them away from important things. Maybe after work. But it was right in her doorway, and she didn’t want to hit it if she was in a rush to enter the house or leave.
She was just going to have to go and ask Daddy to help her. After she grabbed her phone and keys, she went outside and made her way to his office. It was only a ten-minute walk from where she rented to his workplace.
There was no need to drive her car. Not that she drove it much anyway. Nearly everything was within walking distance. Well, apart from Daddy’s house, which was further, and she always drove there. Daddy wanted her to and said he didn’t want her walking home alone at night.
Maylee turned a corner which brought her right in front of This We’ll Defend Security company. She opened the door and went in.
Justin was the first person she saw when entering the office. Was he never busy? Why was he always in the lobby when she visited? Did he know she was coming?
“Do you have a tracking device on me?” she blurted out.
“No, but I’ll talk to your Daddy about that,” he replied. “Best to probably put one on you so he knows where you are at all times.”
She shook her head. There was no way she was going to have a tracking device on her. Deadwood was such a small town. Nothing could possibly happen to her for him to put a tracking device on her.
“Do you need something?” Justin asked. “Ezra didn’t say you were coming.”
“Uhh, he doesn’t know I’m coming.”
Justin raised an eyebrow. “He doesn’t? ”
She shook her head. “Ezra doesn’t know. I just needed help with something.”
“Don’t you mean Daddy?”
She stilled. Maylee still wasn’t used to them knowing she called him Daddy. It was weird, and she wasn’t used to them all being Daddies either. How had she not picked up on that? She had read several books and knew what to look for.
Though, books were fiction, and she lived in the real world.
Sadly.
Her face heated up. “No. Well, only when we are in private and playing. I’m not one hundred percent sure I’m a Little yet.”
So, she may have lied. She had called him Daddy everywhere because they agreed on that. They were trying this out twenty-four seven, and it was an adjustment.
“That should change. You should call him Daddy all the time to get used to it. Feel how it feels.”
She started to move on her feet, feeling guilty that she lied.
“Are you feeling guilty?” Justin asked.
She shook her head quickly before she started to nod. “Yes,” she whispered. “I’m sorry.”
“For what?”
“I lied!”
“How?”
“I just don’t like other people knowing.”
“What’s going on?” Daddy asked as he emerged from his office. “I thought I heard your voice but wasn’t sure. You didn’t text me.”
Maylee started to feel even more guilty. She was supposed to tell him if she was going anywhere, and she had completely forgotten.
Tears filled her eyes. “I’m sorry!”
“Lee, what’s wrong?”
“I lied, and then I didn’t text you to tell you I was coming here!”
She was feeling so bad for lying to Justin and breaking one of her rules. Technically, she had broken two.
“Shhh,” Daddy said, gently. “You’re okay. Can you tell me what you lied about?”
“Justin said shouldn’t it be Daddy instead of your name, and I said no when that was a lie. I’m sorry.”
“Oh, baby. You’re okay. You weren’t comfortable telling him, and that’s okay. Lying isn’t okay, but you could have told him you didn’t want to answer, and he would have understood.”
Tears had spilled, and she nodded.
“And as for not texting me, you’ll be getting lines for that. You know it’s one of your rules.”
“I know, Daddy,” she whispered. “I’m sorry.”
“Maylee,” Justin said, gently. “Can you look at me?”
She obeyed.
“I’m sorry for putting you in that position. Sometimes I forget that not everyone is comfortable saying things like that. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable and lie.”
“It’s okay. I’m sorry for lying.”
“No worries. You’re already forgiven.” Justin waved his hand. “Now, I’m going to go do work.”
Maylee turned back to Daddy .
“Come on, Lee. Let’s go into my office where we have privacy.”
Daddy took her hand and led her to his office where he closed the door after they went in. She felt like she could breathe fresh air when the door clicked shut. Now someone would have to knock before they entered his office, which meant she wouldn’t embarrass herself again.
“Now, before we get to the lines, can you tell me why you’re here?” Daddy asked. “Not that I don’t want you here, but it’s after lunch. Shouldn’t you be at work?”
“I had taken this afternoon off a couple of weeks ago. Was having a desk shipped to my house.”
“Did you move the desk by yourself?”
She shook her head. “No, I tried but it’s so heavy. I couldn’t make it budge a centimeter.”
“And that’s why you came here?”
“Yes, I was wondering if you could help me move it.”
Daddy gave her a small smile. “You could have texted me that instead of walking here.”
She looked down at her feet. “I guess I could have.”
“Lee, are you okay?”
She shrugged. Was she okay?
“I’m feeling a little lost, I guess? I just wanted to see you in person. Didn’t really want to wait a couple of hours until you got off work,” she rushed out. “I know I just saw you a couple of hours ago, but I don’t know.”
“Come here,” Daddy said.
She looked up to see his arms open wide. Rushing over to him, she latched herself onto Daddy. He wrapped his arms around her, and she let out a sigh .
“Any time you need a hug, you let me know. I’m here for you.”
Maylee didn’t let go of him. She didn’t want to, not when she felt so safe and secure in his embrace.
“Let’s sit down.”
She whined at the thought of letting him go. She wasn’t ready to do that yet.
“You can still hold onto me, but I think it’ll be more comfortable for you.”
Daddy gently picked her up and sat down, placing her on his lap. She was almost amazed with how strong he was and how easily he could pick her up.
“I think you need all the love you can get,” Daddy said. “I’m here to give that to you. Any time you want or need it, you let me know.”
She nodded. She could get behind that. After several minutes, Daddy pulled back slightly.
“Are you feeling any better? Any less lost?”
She shook her head. “Not as much, but I still feel a little lost.”
“I think I know something which could help.”
Her eyes were trained on him. He did? What was it?
“How about you spend the weekend with me? You as a Little and me as your Daddy.”
“I think I’d like that.”
