19. Chapter Nineteen
CHAPTER NINETEEN
MAYLEE
M aylee was currently sitting by the coffee table in the living room, coloring, while Daddy was getting her a snackie. She didn’t really want one, but Daddy said she had to have one because she hadn’t eaten breakfast.
She rolled her eyes once he left the room. Sure, it wasn’t the best for her to skip breakfast, but Daddy had make her drink chocolate milk—two glasses full. She was full from all of that and didn’t want anything else.
“Here you go.” Daddy placed a plate in front of her.
“Cream cheese and crackers?” she asked.
“Yes, Lee. I know you like eating it as a snack. I keep it on hand for you.”
Her eyes went wide and filled with tears. He did that for her?
“Baby, that wasn’t supposed to make you cry.”
She shook her head. “I don’t know why I’m crying. I shouldn’t be, but I just feel so touched? ”
“That someone actually pays attention to what you do and like?”
“I know you pay attention to me. You’ve proved it several times for our whole lives. I just sometimes am surprised you still do even after all of these years?”
Maylee had just figured he would stop after so many years, but he hadn’t. It shouldn’t shock her anymore, but she continued to let it.
“I’m going to do it for the rest of our lives.”
She had no doubt that he would; she didn’t want him to stop now.
“Now, let’s get back to coloring,” Daddy said, “and don’t forget to eat some of your snacks.”
Maylee picked up a piece of cracker with cream cheese on it and stuffed it into her mouth before she started to color again. It didn’t hit right this time though. She wasn’t hungry, and it didn’t taste good at all. How did he expect her to eat it when she wasn’t hungry?
She looked at the plateful of crackers with cream cheese and grimaced. She didn’t want to color now. Instead, she pushed away from the table and lay on her stomach. Placing her head on the ground, she looked over at Daddy.
Okay, so it wasn’t the best idea to lie down since her bladder was so full. The pressure of her lying on her stomach made her need to go even more. Maylee started to fidget as she tried not to pee. Even though she had used the diaper a few times, it didn’t get easier. Or at least it didn’t get easier for her.
It was still a mental struggle for her every time her bladder filled. She got lucky one time when they were to take a shower and he let her use the toilet. But then he told her the next time she would use her diaper before. He was really taking the whole ‘use your diaper’ thing seriously.
Pressure continued to increase, and Maylee couldn’t hold it in anymore. A whine escaped her lips as she peed her pants. Anyone could hear the hissing of her pee. She pushed her face into the carpet in embarrassment. She didn’t know if she was ever going to get used to it.
A whine escaped her lips as she stopped peeing. One thing she didn’t like was the feeling of a wet diaper. To feel her own pee against her skin didn’t sit well with her.
“Are you okay?” Daddy asked.
She looked at him and whined again, not wanting to talk. Daddy gave her a concerned look, his gaze moving across her body.
“What’s wrong, baby?”
Maylee whined once again and pushed her legs apart. She wanted the diaper off her. Realization crossed Daddy’s face, and he rose from the couch.
“Did you wet your diaper?” he asked.
Tears formed in her eyes, and she nodded.
“Does my baby not feel like talking?”
She whined and nodded again. All she wanted was for Daddy to change her diaper and hold her.
“All right. Let’s go get you changed, and then we can have some snuggles after.”
Daddy picked her up, and she snuggled into his chest as he headed toward the nursery. He patted her bottom as he walked, making the diaper stick to her even more .
She whined and wiggled her hips, trying to get him to stop.
“You’re okay,” Daddy said.
He entered the room, placed her on the changing table, and strapped her in before handing her Nila. She immediately pulled Nila to her chest and watched as Daddy started to remove her diaper.
“Are you feeling super small right now?” Daddy asked.
She stuck her thumb into her mouth and nodded. She wasn’t thinking about anything other than Daddy and him taking care of her.
Daddy pulled her thumb out of her mouth and made a tsking sound.
“No sucking on your thumb. I got a pacifier for you,” he said as he pulled a pacifier from somewhere and plopped it in her mouth.
Where had he gotten that? It seemed like it came from thin air. Could he magically make things appear from nowhere? Was he a magician?
“Such a good girl. My good girl. You continue to suck on that while I change your diaper.”
That was exactly what she did. She continued to suck on the pacifier as Daddy cleaned her before putting on a clean diaper. He was gentle the whole time, making sure she was clean but also not lingering too long to where she was turned on. It was as if he knew she wasn’t in the right mindset.
Well, it was pretty easy to tell since he asked her if she was feeling really small. He knew, and he was taking care of her right now .
“I’m going to swaddle you and hold you for a little while. Then I’m going to make a bottle so you can take a nap after.”
She whined at the mention of the nap. She didn’t need one, and she didn’t want one.
“Little girls need naps. Daddy doesn’t want you to get cranky. If you’re a good girl and take your nap, then I will show you your surprise after.”
She widened her eyes at the mention of a surprise. She wanted that surprise. She nodded.
“All right, I’m going to swaddle you now and then I’m going to go get your milk.”
Daddy unbuckled her and helped her sit up before he grabbed a blanket and placed it on the changing table. He picked her up and gently laid her on top of the blanket. She continued to suck on the pacifier as he wrapped the blanket around her.
Maylee was worried she wasn’t going to like it, that she was going to feel claustrophobic, but as Daddy wrapped the blanket around her, she didn’t feel that way. If anything, it helped her calm down even more than she’d assumed she could.
“I’m going to place you in the crib while I go make your bottle,” Daddy said as he picked her up, went over to the crib, and laid her down.
He started to walk off, and tears ran down her face. She whined and started to cry even more. She didn’t want Daddy to leave the room. She didn’t want him to leave her.
Maylee considered spitting out the pacifier and crying out for him, but she didn’t have the hands to put it back in her mouth. But as Daddy took longer and longer, she couldn’t hold herself back. She spat out the pacifier and started to cry out for Daddy.
“Ah, baby. You’re okay. Daddy’s right here. I didn’t go anywhere long, I was in the house the whole time,” Daddy said.
She continued to cry as she couldn’t see him. Was he in the room or was it just some monitor? Either way, she continued to cry.
Daddy’s face appeared above her, and he gave her a smile. “Daddy’s back. You’re okay. I’m right here,” he soothed as he picked her up.
She snuggled her head into his chest, trying to get as close as possible. She didn’t want him to leave her again.
“I’m going to feed you a bottle now,” Daddy said as he sat down in the rocking chair.
It was not like she could do much. Her arms and legs were wrapped up in the blanket, and she was completely at his mercy. That thought calmed her. He was in control, and he wasn’t going to let anything happen to her.
She started to suck on the baby bottle as they rocked in the rocking chair. Her eyes slowly closed as she relaxed.
“Daddy’s right here. I’m not going anywhere. Daddy will take care of you while you sleep.”
Maylee opened her eyes, trying to fight the sleep. She didn’t want to fall asleep right now. She wanted to be with Daddy and hear him talking to her.
“Shhh,” Daddy whispered. “You can go to sleep. Daddy will be with you the whole time. It’s okay to let go and close your eyes.”
Her eyes drooped, but she tried to force them open again. She was losing the battle fast. With the rocking and her sucking on the baby bottle, it wasn’t a good combination.
“Daddy’s going to keep you safe. You can sleep.”
And with that, she succumbed to the darkness.
