Chapter Eight
The next morning, Patsy smiled when she felt Micah nuzzling her hair as he lay behind her. “Are you trying to wake me up, Agent Turner?”
“Seems like it worked,” he murmured against her neck.
She laughed low in her throat and pressed her butt back against him making him groan. “Oh, it is definitely working.”
Rolling over to face him, she pushed him to his back and straddled him then stroked her fingers along his hard cock pressing against her belly.
“You’re killing me,” he said through clenched teeth.
“I don’t want to do that, but I do want…this,” she said, wrapping her hand around him.
“It’s yours. Take it. Anything you want. You have me in the palm of your hand, literally.”
Scooting down his legs, she leaned over and took him into her mouth. Looking up at him, she watched as he put his head back and closed his eyes. He was just so sexy, and she loved having him in her power. If only he’d surrender. She lifted her mouth from him and sat up. Micah opened his eyes, looked up at her, and raised a brow.
“Want to try sixty-nine sometime?” she asked.
“No.”
“No? Why not?”
“I have more to lose than you do.”
Patsy laughed. “What does that mean?”
Micah sat up, cupped her face in his hands, and stared into her eyes. “What if we do and I get you to a real good, hard , orgasm—”
“I would hope so,” she whispered against his lips.
“Yeah, well, if I did, how do I know you wouldn’t bite my dick off?”
She burst out laughing. “Well, you do make me bite down on my lip, so I can see where that would make you a little anxious.”
“As I said, I have more to lose than you do.”
He moved his lips to her neck then ran them along her collarbone. He flipped her to her back, moved his hand between them to her clitoris making her gasp.
“God, I want you so much, Patsy.”
“I want you too…please.” She moaned as he slid into her then she pushed against his shoulders and he rolled to his back with her straddling him. “I think we’ll do this my way. ”
Patsy sat up, placed her hands on his chest then raised and lowered herself over him. His thumb moved against her clitoris and just like that, he took her over the edge. She cried out his name as she came then gave a squeal when he flipped her to her back and pounded into her then groaned her name against her neck when he came.
“Shit, that was good,” he said between ragged breaths.
“Yes,” she answered taking in deep breaths smiling when Micah kissed her neck then he raised his head to look at her.
“Ready to get out of the house today?”
“I’d love to…” She hesitated then added. “But do you think it’s safe?”
“Yeah, I’ll keep an eye out. You’ll be safe with me.”
“Okay. I do want to get out of this house.”
“I don’t suppose you have a hat with you?”
“No.”
“All right. I’ll have to see if I can find you a hat once we get there.”
“I don’t like hats on me.”
“Too bad. I don’t want to see that beautiful skin of yours damaged.”
Patsy smiled. “Who knew the big bad FBI agent would say such things and to me of all people.”
“Who knew we’d end up in bed?”
“I know I wanted to. I was attracted to you from the start. ”
“Was?” he asked teasing her with a sexy grin.
“Am…but was then too.”
“Okay, let’s shower, get some food in us then we’ll head to the ranch.”
He rolled off her, swung his legs over the side of the bed, and put his hand out to her.
She smiled and placed her hand in his. “I can’t wait to go.”
Micah smiled at her and her heart soared just seeing it aimed at her.
An hour later, Micah drove the Tahoe up the drive leading to his dad’s ranch. Patsy sat up and looked around. The large white farmhouse with the wraparound porch looked so inviting. A large red barn sat across the yard with several horses in the corral. She could see cattle grazing in the field straight in front of them.
“It’s gorgeous.”
“It is. I love this place. I wouldn’t mind having a place like this one day.”
“You never mention your mom.”
“My parents are divorced. They have been since I was ten. I used to spend the summers here with Dad. They shared custody.”
“You said it was because your dad was FBI too?”
“Yeah. Dad’s job tore them apart. It’s because of him I became an agent.”
She nodded. There was nothing she could say. She imagined being married to an agent was hard on a marriage. How many spouses were terrified at the prospect of hearing their husband or wife had been killed in the line of duty? She’d seen what Bella had gone through when she’d thought Mont was dead and Patsy couldn’t imagine what that felt like. Bella had been devastated and Patsy had done her best to get her through it and be there for her. The only thing that had kept Bella going was finding out she was pregnant with Mont’s baby and then she found out it was babies , as in twins. Colt and Randi were adorable, and Patsy loved them.
Micah stopped the SUV by the side of the house. They opened their doors and stepped out. Patsy inhaled the sweet smell of hay. Putting her hand up to shade her eyes, she gazed around. This had probably been a great place to grow up. She smiled then turned to meet Micah at the front of the vehicle. Taking her hand, he led her into the big, airy kitchen. The floor was made up of large cherry wood planks. The cabinets matched and surrounded black appliances.
“How about you make some sandwiches for us while I go saddle some horses and let Cookie know we’re here.”
“Who’s Cookie?”
“The foreman.”
“All right. How many sandwiches do you want?”
“Two, with mayo, please. Dad always keeps some bottled water in the fridge, so we’ll take a few bottles with us and I’ll grab a blanket. I’ll meet you at the porch steps in a few minutes,” he said as he ran his hand over her ponytail then he kissed her forehead and walked out the door.
Taking a deep breath and smiling, she yanked opened the fridge door then took out lunchmeat, cheese, and bread then made three sandwiches. Looking around, she found a bag to put everything in, along with two apples. She grabbed four bottles of water then walked out onto the porch and sat on the steps to wait for Micah.
Truly not a hat person, she suddenly hoped he found her a hat because that sun was beginning to beat down hard. Looking toward the barn, her breath hitched when she saw Micah walking out, leading two horses.
“Oh, dear God,” she murmured as she looked at him.
He hadn’t been lying. He was a cowboy at heart. His straw cowboy hat sat low on his forehead, shading those beautiful eyes but she could still see the stubble on his lower face, jaw, and neck. Her gaze traveled down his tight blue T-shirt, over his pecs, flat stomach, and then tried to stop on his belt buckle. She couldn’t stop her eyes from going lower for all the money in the world. His jeans fit him like a glove, cupping his sex. The pant legs were bunched up around the ankles of his distressed cowboy boots and his feet kicked up clouds of dust as he strode toward her .
She’d been in such a hurry to leave that she really hadn’t paid much attention to the way he’d been dressed. Oh, she knew he had jeans and cowboy boots on but now with that cowboy hat sitting on his head, she now saw him as a cowboy. He raised his head and looked at her and she knew right then, she’d fallen in love with him. Shit! Shit! Shit!
Stopping the horses nearby, he grinned at her and her heart slammed against her ribs.
“Come on, get in the saddle, and I’ll adjust the stirrups,” he told her motioning her forward. “When was the last time you rode?”
“This morning,” she said laughing.
“I meant a horse,” he growled then grinned.
Patsy laughed.
“Last month. I go to Bella’s every Sunday in the spring and summer to ride whether she goes or not.”
She pushed herself up and walked to the horse then handed him the bag and bottles. He took the items and put them in the saddlebags on his horse. She put her foot in the stirrup and tried to lift herself up but couldn’t get the momentum then she suddenly felt Micah’s hand on her ass and he gave her a shove. Once in the saddle, she narrowed her eyes at him.
“Did you just cop a feel?”
“Yes. Yes, I did.” He grinned at her. “Here, take this hat. ”
Taking the hat from him, she looked at it then at him. “Whose is this?”
“Brandy’s. Cookie’s daughter.”
“Really? Have you taken rides with her?”
“Actually, I have.” He paused. “She’s twelve.”
“You’re such a dick,” she muttered making him laugh.
“Did you just say I have such a dick, or I am one?” he asked as he adjusted the stirrups for her.
“Both.” She laughed.
She winked at him then watched as he walked around his horse and vaulted onto the saddle. She glared at him when he glanced over at her.
“What?” he asked.
“The way you just vaulted into the saddle.”
Micah chuckled. “I told you, I was riding before I was walking. Let’s go. It’s a little bit of a way up there but the pond is a nice spot for a picnic.”
“Sounds wonderful.”
“It’s about an hour and half ride. That’s why I wanted to know if you’ve ridden lately. I wouldn’t want you to get saddle sore.”
“But then you could massage it for me.”
“I can do that anyway. Let’s go, pixie. Daylight’s a-wasting.”
Patsy burst out laughing. “I can’t believe you just said that.”

They took their time so about an hour and forty-five minutes later they stopped the horses at the pond, and dismounted. Micah helped Patsy down and handed her the blanket before taking the saddles and blankets off the horses to let them graze. After Patsy spread the blanket out, he took the sandwiches, water, and apples from the saddlebags then sat on the blanket next to her and handed her a sandwich.
“I didn’t think I’d be hungry yet, but I’m starving.”
“It’s the fresh air,” Micah said as he took a bite of his sandwich then twisted the caps off two of the bottles and handed her one.
Patsy took the bottle from him then took a bite of her sandwich. “It’s just beautiful here.”
“My favorite place to ride to, when I get the chance.”
Glancing up, the sun beat down on his face and the rays warmed his shoulders. Once he finished the sandwich, he lay back, put his hat down over his face then clasped his hands across his stomach.
“I can see why,” he heard her say then Patsy cleared her throat.
“Tell me about Bella when she was kidnapped.”
Micah lifted his hat and looked up her.
“She didn’t tell you?” He set his hat down on the blanket.
“Only that she’d fallen in love with Mont, well, Colt. ”
Blowing out a breath, he shook his head. “I’m not sure it’s my place to tell you.”
“Why not? You were there, and I need to know.”
“It was hard for her…and Mont. He’d fallen in love with her and he knew it was wrong. We protected her as much as we could without being too obvious about it. If Barkley had an even a small inkling of us doing that, he would have killed us both. He was an evil son of a bitch. I had to hold Mont back when Barkley was choking her—”
“He choked her?”
“Yeah, he was doing it to teach her a lesson. She’d gotten away from me.”
He saw he’d worried Patsy so Micah chuckled.
“She was feisty as hell. We kept her in a locked room and she had already tried to escape once by breaking the window. Mont was keeping an eye on her then. He had to put plywood over the window. He made up some stupid story that she’d made him so mad he’d thrown the lamp and it hit the window. When she got away from me, I had no excuse for her getting out other than not stopping her. She’d pulled at the plywood enough to get it down. I heard her doing it but by the time I’d opened the door, she was halfway out the window. I caught her and tossed her across the bed but she rolled away, and ran out the door.” He stopped when Patsy laughed .
“Sounds like Bella.”
He grinned, feeling better about telling her this.
“Well, she made it to the kitchen where I finally caught her. She struggled then picked up a plate from the table, turned, and whacked me over the head.” Patsy smothered a laugh and he knew she was appreciating her friend getting the better of him. It is funny now . “It about knocked me out and I was woozy enough that she got away. I had to call Mont to come back and help me look for her. He found her and took her back to the house. I was sure Barkley was going to kill me, but he didn’t. He did, however, go into her room, pull her from the bed by her hair, put her against the wall and started choking her. The worst part was Mont and I had to stand there and watch him do it. We couldn’t blow our covers.”
“Wow! I had no idea about that. Why didn’t you let Bella know you were FBI?”
Micah shook his head. “We couldn’t chance that her demeanor would change, thinking she was safe, and Barkley was too damn astute not to catch something like that.”
“Right. I can’t believe she survived all that and more. I know she was devastated when she thought Mont was dead. I’d never seen her so tore up, but she knew she was going to have a part of him in those babies.”
“We didn’t know if he was going to make it at all. It was hard on his mom and his friends to think he’d never wake up. He was so mad at me when I told him Isabella thought he was dead.” He shook his head. “It wasn’t just my decision to tell her that. Mont’s mom said it was for the best and at the time, we all thought it was. We couldn’t see having Isabella sit there and watch him die. It was best she already thought he was gone. I couldn’t even bring myself to tell her he was FBI.”
Patsy smiled at him. “I believe she really would have kicked your ass then.”
Micah chuckled. “No doubt there.”
He sobered. “Did she tell you about Silas Blackman?”
“No. Who’s that?”
He sat up and bent his knees then stared out across the pond.
“He’s the man who tried to rape her.”
“Oh my God! She was almost raped too? She never told me.”
“She probably wants to forget that part. The bastard had his eye on her the minute she was brought back to the house.” Micah ran his hand down his face. “Christ, what a fuck up that was. She never should have been taken in the first place but from what Mont told me later, she volunteered to go so no one else would get hurt. Blackman was a pig and he deserved what he got.”
“Is he in prison?”
“No.” He shook his head. “Mont killed him. Mont was at the house with Isabella but just had to get out. I don’t know what happened, but he told Barkley he needed to go for a ride on his bike. Barkley was to stay with her until Mont got back only Barkley was called out to do another task, and had to leave. He had Blackman stay with her. Barkley had made it clear to all of us that no one was to touch Isabella. He might have been a murderer, but he despised any man who raped women.”
“Seriously?”
“Yeah, it’s funny that someone like him would be that way but he thought a man who raped a woman was scum, even though he’d killed so many people.” Micah shrugged. “A lot of men feel that way about a rapist or child molester. They’ll kill them in prison. I’ve seen it happen. A murderer isn’t necessarily a rapist any more than a rapist is a murderer.”
“That does make sense. I’m just shocked she didn’t tell me about any of this. What happened?”
“Blackman went into her room and tore her shirt off then hit her a couple of times before getting her jeans off. All I know is that Mont returned just in time to pull Blackman off her. They got into a fight and Blackman stabbed Mont in the shoulder, but he was still able to overtake Blackman and stabbed him in the heart. Thing is, Isabella had a chance to run but didn’t take it. Oh, she was going to, but Mont told her Barkley would kill him if she ran off. That was enough to make her stop and decide to stay. He called me, and I stitched him up. We told Barkley that Blackman had tried to rape her, and Mont had to kill him. I knew then she was in love with Mont.”
“I’m so glad it worked out. They’re very much in love and those babies of theirs are just adorable.” Patsy leaned back on her elbows.
“They are. I don’t see them as much as I’d like to, but Mont and I keep in touch.” Micah moved to lay his head in her lap and stared up at her.
“Comfy?” she asked him, raising an eyebrow at him as if annoyed.
He grinned up at her. He sat up then leaned in close to her, his lips hovering above hers.
“I need to steal a kiss,” he murmured against her lips.
“Can’t steal it if I give it to you,” she whispered.
He chuckled. “True. Kiss me, Patsy.”
Smiling against his lips, she pressed hers to his and kissed him. She slipped her tongue into his mouth and he groaned. Moving his hand up along her arm, he slid it to the nape of her neck then into her ponytail. He pulled her closer and deepened the kiss. She moaned into his mouth when he pushed her to her back. When she pushed against his shoulders, he raised his head and stared into her eyes.
“I am not having sex with you out here in an open field. ”
“No?” He moved his lips to her neck and nibbled before lightly nipping her with his teeth. He smiled when she shivered.
“No. Anyone could see us, and I don’t want a damn cow coming over here to watch.”
Micah laughed. “All right. Are you ready to go back then?”
“Yes.”
He nodded then stood and pulled her to her feet. Cupping her face in his hands, he lowered his head and took her lips in a deep kiss.
“Sure I can’t change your mind?” he whispered against her lips.
Patsy moaned.
“You could but I’m not letting you. When we get back to your house, maybe…” She stood on her toes and kissed his lips.
Nodding, he relinquished to her suggestion. Micah saddled the horses and once they’d both mounted, he led the way back.
He was in trouble as far as his feelings went with her. He knew he was falling for her and he shouldn’t. Sharing a life with someone in his profession wasn’t easy. Sure, some marriages worked, like Coby and Joyce’s but he’d also seen a lot of divorces in the agency. Glancing over to her, he saw her take a bite of the apple she’d brought along. She held it out to him and raised an inquisitive eyebrow. Micah shook his head. He didn’t need a damn apple to tempt him. All he needed was her. She was temptation enough in one sexy little package.
He’d never been into petite women. Being six four, it was hard on the neck trying to kiss them, but he didn’t mind with the damn pixie. He loved kissing her and he sure as hell loved having her in his bed. Shit! His dick was going to strain against his fly if he didn’t stop thinking about being in bed with her. She was so hot in bed and he was so glad that she didn’t hold back at all. He wanted her as soon as they got back to his house. Shifting in the saddle, he tried to stop his dick from rising. Think of something else, Turner!
He removed his hat and ran his fingers through his hair then resettled it. When he looked over to Patsy, she was staring at him.
“What?” he asked.
“That was such a cowboy move,” she said with a grin.
“Cowboy move?” He frowned not understanding.
“I see cowboys do that all the time with their hat.”
Micah laughed. “I guess. I told you I was a cowboy at heart. Born and raised here.”
“I never would have guessed with those suits you wear.”
He shrugged. “Part of the job.”
Patsy spurred her horse and galloped from him .
“Hurry up. The sooner we get back the sooner I can get you into bed,” she yelled as she rode off.
“Damn pixie,” Micah muttered as he nudged his horse and took off after her.
****
Patsy looked over her shoulder to see him riding his horse full out and he was catching her. She laughed then squealed when he reached over and took her off the horse to pull her across his lap then he reined his horse to a stop and pressed his lips to hers.
“What about my horse?”
“I’ll get her, but I wanted to get you first,” he said against her lips before kissing her. “You make me crazy, Patsy.”
“In a good way or bad way?”
Micah blew out a laugh. “Probably both. Let me put you down and I’ll get your horse.”
He held her arm as he lowered her to the ground then rode after her horse which had stopped to munch on some grass. She watched him lean over in the saddle to grab the reins then led the horse back to her. He put his fingers to his hat.
“Ma’am.”
She put her hand over her heart. “Be still my heart, a real cowboy of my own.”
“Mount up,” he said with a chuckle.
“I hope you’ll say that later.” She laughed when he groaned.
“Now my dick’s hard. Way to go, pixie. ”
Patsy glanced at his crotch. “I see that, big bad FBI agent.”
Micah shifted in the saddle.
“Get going,” he growled making her laugh as she rode ahead of him .
