32. Celix
Iwasn’t an incubus, but I could scent when someone was aroused. Sydney had been until Lilith dumped all that about her mom on her. She wanted to go back to Lucifer’s and just be held that night, which we could definitely do.
Kujo insisted on sleeping on the couch again.
He didn’t have her wings as an excuse this time.
Kujo caught feelings. It was one thing if Nero and me called his mom a bitch and jumped in front of him during a fight.
We were arguable good looking demons, but Kujo wasn’t attracted to men.
And he needed a woman who would challenge him, which Sydney definitely did.
Kujo had it bad because he wasn’t a hugger and he didn’t snuggle. He also didn’t do relationships, so this was amusing to watch. They’d figure it out. Sydney was into him a bit.
The most amusing part that I couldn’t wait for was going to be Kujo on the potion we were on our way to get.
Drunk or high Kujo was always loads of fun.
Defacing portraits of the King of Hell was just par for the course.
It was why he only drank when he was around people he trusted, which basically just included Nero and me. And I guess Sydney.
We needed Wrathhog to take us to Lilith’s again.
Not because Nero, Kujo, and me couldn’t portal, but I was guessing the reason none of the demons in Hell knew where Lilith had a house was because it was hidden behind some powerful warding.
Demons wouldn’t vandalize it, even if she left us, but they would turn it into a tourist attraction and leave offerings.
She was right on time. Wrathhog was always punctual, and I appreciated that. It wasn’t because it was something Lilith required. Wrathhog always came when she promised long before Lilith showed up.
Lilith greeted us when we arrived and she was nothing like I expected.
She was dressed like a badass when I first met her and at her dinner party, but since she was just planning on hanging around her house with us while Kujo drank her potion, she was just wearing black leggings and an off the shoulder T-shirt with her hair in a messy bun.
The first thing she did was zero in on Sydney’s top.
Today, it was skulls and flowers and read When I Die, Delete my Kindle History.
I personally loved all her bookish shirts, but this one shouldn’t set Mammon off.
I was fairly certain if she knew he was stopping by, she had the perfect shirt to give him the vapors.
“So, I’ve got snacks and the potion. If you don’t like what I’ve prepared, then you’ll want to eat something because you really don’t want to drink it on an empty stomach. Not because it’s going to hurt. You’re just going to get very high. Can I trust you to stay away from my portraits?”
Kujo was never going to live that down and one time, he got shitfaced and tried to perform the entire score of The Rocky Horror Picture Show in a Port a Potty at a music festival we dragged him to.
Kujo did not have a single ounce of musical talent, but he really committed to it.
He punched Nero in the throat when we went in there to drag him out.
“I’m not a picky eater. If I didn’t eat what was available, then I went hungry.”
“I’m feeling way less shitty about exploding your mom,” Sydney said.
“You shouldn’t feel bad about that at all. She had it coming. I don’t know if she knew who took Lucifer, but she came for me because she was told I was strong enough to find him. She was working for whoever took him a little bit, if not all the way.”
Sydney just shrugged.
“It’s my first time killing someone. I’m allowed to feel weird about it.”
I thought Lilith’s idea for snacks was going to be caviar and cucumber sandwiches, but I was completely wrong.
This was proper demon street food. There were kebabs, fried potatoes, and tacos and she wasn’t stingy.
We were large demons and could put away a lot of food.
Sydney also needed a lot of calories now that her magic was here.
“Oh, my god. I know this is for Kujo, but is anyone going to get mad if I dive face first in those tacos,” Sydney moaned.
“Have at it, Killer.”
“This is for all of you,” Lilith said. “It’s rude to not feed everyone, for one. Secondly, I know how things are for women in the mortal realm, but you are magical. You need more calories to stay strong and only Mammon is going to comment about you enjoying food.”
“You say that now, but you’ve never seen me around tacos. And I’ve never had Hell tacos, so it could get graphic.”
“I think you’ll find this a judgment free zone. Come eat so we can get this potion in Kujo.”
The food Lilith served at her dinner party was fantastic. I’d never eaten anything that fancy before, but this spread was way more my style. Sydney’s too based on the noises she was making while she ate. And we had sex, so I knew those noises.
“So, these are completely different from the tacos I’m used to. Not better and not worse, but I guess taco adjacent and can stand on their own.”
“You can get mortal realm cuisine here if you miss it. There are several restaurants and there are sections in the grocery that carry some things from all over the mortal realm.”
“Peanut butter cups?”
If she wanted peanut butter cups, we’d make sure she had them. I knew where to get them in Hell and the mortal realm. They were fairly popular in certain areas of Hell while other treats sold a lot better.
“We got you covered, Killer. I can’t actually eat anymore. I could try, but if this is more of a drunk than a high, then you might deal with some projectile vomiting and that was disgusting last time.”
Lilith cocked an eyebrow at Nero. She would know exactly what that meant because she was the one who gave him that power.
“I hope you were careful. I gave all of you that power just in case someone misunderstood that just because you feed off of sex and can enhance it doesn’t mean you don’t get to choose who that happens with. It got all twisted after I left.”
“My ex,” Sydney said. “Can’t be traced back to Nero unless someone rats.”
“No one will hear anything from me, but that curse will eventually wear off since it wasn’t placed due to consent issues. I absolutely think there should be something to permanently stop a rapist, but I also know someone might give that curse for other reasons. What did your ex do?”
“Cheated on me with a fetus.”
“He insulted her to make himself bigger,” Kujo said. “His stupid dick can stay broken.”
I mean, Kujo wasn’t wrong, but he was going to have a shitty time pretending like he hadn’t started to care for her if he kept saying shit like that.
Lilith just shrugged and didn’t judge, even if it could be said Nero abused the original intent of that magic.
She tossed Kujo a vial full of green liquid.
“Bottoms up. You might want to drink it in one go. There’s no way to make the herbs it requires taste good..”
Here went nothing. Things always got interesting when Kujo wasn’t sober.
