Chapter 6
Chapter Six
Knoxx
Ilooked Luna over before I reached for the milkshake that I ordered.
Ommy said these motherfuckers were the bomb, but truthfully, I wasn’t here for just the milkshake.
I was here for more pressing reasons, that I assumed only Luna knew about.
I only knew that because my sister hadn’t come cursing me out and Luna was avoiding my ass.
The fact that shorty had allowed me to taste the pussy and went about her day was enough to have me chasing her.
I didn’t like shit like that at all but here my ass was.
I had gone to my sister’s spot looking for her, but Surah said I had just missed her. She said she might’ve stopped by Luna’s spot, so I went over there. Instead of stopping at the busy counter I walked to the back office.
“What are you doing here, Knoxx?” she asked.
Luna looked up from the computer into my eyes. Instead of sitting at her desk she was comfortably seated on the mustard loveseat across from her desk. I could tell she liked to look at me from the way she avoided being in any space with me.
“My sister was over here?” I asked.
“You just missed her like ten minutes ago.”
I nodded my head and looked around her office for a moment before I looked back at her. “I know you be avoiding being in the same space as me.” I found this to be the perfect moment for me to see the more of her that I had been desiring.
She laughed. “Do I? What gave you that impression?”
“The fact that every time we’re in the same space you excuse yo’self.”
“You seem so cocky.” She stood from her seat and walked over to discard the empty plastic rapper.
I took a seat on the sofa next to where she was seated.
When she returned instead of sitting next to me, she leaned against her desk just looking at me.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Like what?” I licked my lips and looked her over.
“Like you wanna make me cum.” She hopped up on her desk and crossed her legs.
“Because I do, and you know that.”
She nodded. “I do, and if I let you wha—”
“It is what it is. We’re both grown an—”
“It doesn’t go past tonight.”
She didn’t have to say shit else because I was already between her legs. That night I fucked her all over her office then took her back to my place and did the same. Then she ghosted a nigga.
Her voice interrupted my trip down memory lane. “Knoxx, your drink is ready”
“You think I came in here to order just this?”
She looked around confused, before her beautiful eyes landed on me. “That is all you ordered, right?”
“Yeah, because what I wanted wasn’t on the fucking menu.”
Again, she did that looking around shit, but this time she bit into her bottom lip because she remembered that night too. “Now Knoxx.”
I laughed. “Don’t start that shit.”
“Start what? I only said your name, Knoxx.”
“You know what the fuck I’m talking about. What’s up with you ghosting me?” I couldn’t believe I had my grown ass right here asking her this shit. She had me all the way fucked up.
“I didn’t ghost you.”
“Then what did you do when you got up outta my bed and disappeared? You damn sure didn’t come back.”
“I had to get home, besides. Didn’t you say you were looking for a onetime thing with no strings?”
“No, you said that dumb shit and I just nodded my head. I’d never say some shit like that, especially when I fully intend to spin the block.”
She shook her head. “You’re a mess.”
“Probably so, but what about that?”
“About what, Knoxx?” she wiped the counter down and just looked at me.
“You know what I’m talking about. What time do you get out of here tonight?” I glanced around her spot before my eyes landed back on her.
“Why? It doesn’t matter because I know like you know this can’t happen.” She motioned between the two of us.
Again, I was laughing at her. What she thought she was telling me was cute, but I knew best. Luna let me fuck, now she was stuck with me. I wasn’t trying to marry her or anything that forward.
“What’s funny?”
“You and all that shit you let out of your mouth.”
“Excuse me?” she asked. Now she was looking at me like I offended her.
“You heard me. I don’t think I said anything that needs to be explained, shorty. I’m interested i—”
“Knoxx can you let my customer through?”
“If you agree, let me pick you up tonight.” I remained planted where I was.
She rolled her eyes. “You’re so difficult.”
“As fuck, now what time?”
“Eight. Now get your ass outta my shop.”
I laughed and picked up my drink to leave. Yeen have to tell me shit now that I got my way. “Later, baby girl.”
I left and went over to my sister’s store.
Shorty had been missing in action for a few days and we didn’t do that.
I don’t know what she had going on, but that no talking for days shit wasn’t for us.
When I entered the shop, I didn’t bother to stop and acknowledge her employee.
I made it to the back door and walked right in.
“No, I’m not coming to your house tonight. I’ll have my son and I’m go—” she was talking to somebody.
“Whatever I’ll think about it. Now, can I go back to work?” she laughed.
By the time I was standing in front of my sister she was off the phone, and I was wondering who the hell she was talking to.
“Why are you standing there looking crazy?”
“Who are you fucking?” I asked, watching her set her phone on her desk.
Her face balled up. “I don’t ask you about your sex life.”
“You don’t, but you could.” I shrugged then looked around the room.
“Ion wanna know.” She threw her hand up to stop me from speaking.
I chuckled.
A brief silence flowed over us before I looked my sister over. “What’s up, shorty?”
“Life. You?” She leaned back against her desk and just looked at me.
“Yo ass. You’ve been in your head and lowkey out of the way. What’s up with you? And don’t think I still don’t want to know who the nigga you were just in here smiling on the phone with was.”
“It was nothing serious. What are you doing this way?”
“I can’t just come see my sister.”
“No, nigga. Especially when you bring your ass in here with a milkshake from Luna’s spot.”
I laughed. She had indeed caught my ass with that one.
“What were you doing over there?” Now she was pulling a me on me.
“Mind my business, shorty.”
Now it was her turn to laugh, and she damn sure did with her petty ass.
I ended up kicking it up there at the shop with her for a while before I left and went by the crib. I needed to look through some plans at the crib. I had fucked around and made plans with shorty without even making sure I didn’t have something in the works.
When I pulled up to my spot, I didn’t expect to see Rae on my porch. Shorty was sitting on the second step looking like she was here to catch her man cheating. Good thing I wasn't her dude, but I did wonder what the hell she was doing here.
“Was I ever enough for you?” Her voice broke my train of thought.
“Yo, do you have some type of reminder set on your phone or is this something that you've vowed to do every other week or so? Like what the fuck, Rae? You left me.”
“I did, but what else would have made you see me?”
“See you? Rae you got bright red ass hair. I don't have any choice but to see you.”
“You know what I mean, Knoxx.” By now she had a scowl on her face, and I could see she probably wanted to start a scene but I was not about to partake in it.
“No I don't, and I'm tired of doing this over and over again with you.”
“How? You don't do it at all. If anything, you act like I'm bothering you when all I want is for yo—”
“I can't keep doing this, RaAnn. I don't want you anymore. There isn't anything left for you and I,” I interrupted her spiel.
“Maybe not, but that bitch’s face you were in at the coffee shop. I bet you want her.”
I laughed. This crazy broad had been following me. “Are you serious?”
She nodded her head like she had caught me lying or something.
You’d think I was cheating on her, and I was the reason for our messed up situation, but it was the total opposite.
She had messed us up and I couldn't see past that.
There was truly nothing left for the two of us and I wish she'd finally get that through her head.
“I can't give up on us, we were perfect.”
“Do you hear yourself? You did give up on us.” By now I had my head tilted to the side and I was trying my damnedest not to blow up out here.
“Yes. This is me fighting for what I love. Fighting for us.”
I laughed. I'd decided that I no longer felt like arguing with her period.
What I did know was that I was glad I had to finally change my locks.
I couldn't take this long drawn out situation any longer.
We were finished and I couldn't understand why the hell she couldn't get that through her fucking skull.
Hopefully, she got it while she was sitting on this porch by herself.
I looked around the parking lot, waiting for Luna to come out of her shop.
The empty space around me made me think about the pace of my life lately.
I had slowed down on some things since everything happened with Argus.
I needed my sister in a good headspace, and not worried about what I was out here doing.
“I for sure thought you wouldn’t show up.” Luna’s voice broke through my thoughts.
“And why would I leave you hanging, shorty? I’m on you like bums and fat bitches during tax season.”
She busted up laughing. “What is wrong with you?”
“Everything. Nothing. Matter of fact Pops did say he dropped me.” I opened my passenger side door for her to get in.
“I’m inclined to believe him, because you are crazy.”
