Chapter 31 Davis #2

“Okay, everything is ready!” Nora called out, right as the doorbell rang and two more women came in, bearing some sort of cracker and cheese tray and a bottle of wine. Nora greeted them, Rae went in for hugs next, and then everyone started finding spots around the table.

“I’m so bummed about Chelsea and Brad not coming,” Nora complained, while pulling her chair out. “It just feels a little uneven or something.”

Right as she said it, the doorbell rang again.

“Who’s that?”

“Uh…actually, Nora—” I started, pushing in Rae’s chair as she took her seat then trailing behind Nora as she headed to the front door. “There’s something I need to tell you. I have this buddy, and—”

She swung the door open, cutting off my explanation. Colson stood there, wearing dark denim, a nice button down, and he had a bundle of flowers in his hand, along with a glass bottle of cold brew coffee.

“Uh…” Colson waited for Nora to say something, but she just stood there frozen.

Clearing my throat, I moved next to her, “Nora, I hope it’s okay that I invited Colson, he’s an old friend of mine. Turns out he’s your neighbor!”

She seemed to snap out of it, moving to the side to let him in, her eyes wild and her jaw tight as she replied, “No, totally fine. Welcome.”

Colson clenched his jaw and hesitated before taking a step inside.

The murmurs at the table died down as we returned to the dining room, until Rae saw us and let out a loud gasp, followed by a horrific coughing spell.

“Shit, are you choking?” I moved to her side. Her face was turning purple.

After a few more sputters, she waved me off. “I’m fine.”

But alarm was apparent in her gaze as she tracked Nora’s stiff movements. Colson had thrust his arm out, holding the flowers, his head dipped, not meeting her eyes. He looked like a third grader handing wildflowers to his crush.

“Thank you.” Nora sounded like a robot, with absolutely no feeling in her voice at all.

Next came the coffee. “Here.”

“Uh…thanks.” Again with the robot voice, except now curiosity had woven a way through.

Colson cleared his throat, explaining. “It’s for tomorrow…I’m always exhausted after I entertain. Thought it might help.”

Seemingly over the small talk, he took the empty seat next to me and tucked himself into the table.

“Why did you invite Colson?” Rae whispered in my ear while one of the women at the end of the table started talking about some work story, entertaining everyone while the food was being passed around.

I turned to her, whispering back, “He’s an old friend. I haven’t seen him in years. It felt like the right thing to do.”

She let out a sigh, sipped her wine, and drawled a curse word under her breath.

“Is that not okay?”

I didn’t get the chance to hear her response because Nora spoke up.

“Colson, you could have brought your girlfriend this evening. She’s not at home all alone, is she?”

Rae kicked Nora under the table, making her friend grunt and lean forward with a wince.

Colson blanched as though he’d been the one kicked as he replied. “Nope.”

Nora’s eyes narrowed into slits, her cheeks warming as she sipped more wine.

Rae tried to carry the conversation, but Colson piped up next, interrupting her.

“How come your boyfriend isn’t here, Nora? I was hoping to meet him.”

Rae had chosen that moment to sip her wine, which was unfortunate because it came sputtering out from her mouth a second later.

“Are you okay?” Nora leaned in and asked.

Rae wiped at the edges of her mouth and rasped, “Fine, but I need to go to the bedroom and change.”

“Oh no, I don’t think that you do…” Nora argued, raising her voice as Rae stood.

“I’ll be right back. Um babe, can you come help me with the zipper?” she asked, poking me in the back. Her shirt didn’t have one.

“Sure.”

“I can help you, Rae. I can go,” Nora said, half standing from the table.

Rae waved her off. “Don’t be silly…it’s your dinner party, we’ll be right back.”

I scooted back and followed Rae to a back bedroom, where she shut us in and started pacing the room.

“What is going on with you and Nora?” I asked, taking a seat on the guest bed. This wasn’t Nora’s room because I’d seen it when I helped hang all the blinds and shades in the house last week.

“She hates Colson. Well, no, she loves him…but hates him.”

“Oh shit, I didn’t know…”

“I know, and I’m not mad at you, but we have a real situation on our hands right now.”

I watched her ass sway in the tight jeans she wore tonight, completely distracted. Her top was tight, showing off the curves of her breasts too, dipping low enough to see almost to her stomach. All I could think of was how I had stopped us in the shower, and how stupid that was.

“Are you listening to me?” She stopped in front of me.

I laughed, shaking my head as I grabbed her by the hips. “No, you’re hot as fuck, and all I want to do is shove my dick so far inside you that you forget what day of the week it is.”

“To be fair, I never know what day of the week it is, so that’s a pretty low bar.”

Lying back on the bed, I brought her over until she was straddling me.

She clicked her tongue. “This is not the time. We have to go back out there, and we need a way to get Colson out of here. Nora is getting drunk, and when she’s drunk, she does things like make secret wedding boards for her and Colson.”

“No fucking way,” I laughed, while moving her over my hard on.

Her sultry moan told me she felt how badly I wanted her.

“Now isn’t the time for this.” She rocked her hips again, rubbing against the steel rod under my jeans. “Definitely not the time, and I would not want you to unzip your jeans and pull out that gloriously veined masterpiece and fuck me with it.”

“No?”

“Definitely not…”

“I thought you spilled wine all over yourself. That means you need to get out of these clothes. Besides, don’t I owe you?”

She looked down at her clothing. “You’re right.”

“I know, so…”

Peeling her top over her head, she tossed it to the ground and then stood above me, unzipping her jeans and slowly peeling them down her thighs.

In just a bra and panties, she settled back over me, and at some point, I had already pulled my dick out.

“Now, let’s see…I think I need to inspect you for any wine that might have gotten on you.”

She hummed, rotating her hips into my erection. “How will you do that?”

“I’ll have to start here.” I moved her underwear to the side so I could see her pussy.

“Hmm, nothing seems to be here.” I rubbed up and down her center.

“Now where?” Rae gasped, tossing her head back.

“Lift up, and I’ll show you.”

She did as I said, lifting enough to fit over my shaft, but she didn’t sink down.

I took the opportunity to pull her down onto me in one swift move. She cried out while grabbing my shoulders.

“I have to do a thorough examination, just to make sure there’s nothing in this sweet cunt of yours.”

She began mewling as she rotated her hips, riding me so hard and fast that she couldn’t contain the sounds she was making.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” she cried, pushing her hand into her hair while bouncing on my dick. The sight of her robbed me of breath, her fair skin flushed by desire for me, her plump breasts bouncing as she fucked me.

“Yeah, baby, just like that.” I watched as my cock went in and out of her slick heat.

She slammed her hips down, while jutting mine up, splitting her in half with my erection, “You’re such a good girl, taking my cock so fast and so hard, knowing that door isn’t locked, and anyone could walk through it at any second.”

“Shit, I forgot about that,” she said huskily, moving her hips faster.

“Then you better milk this cock for all its worth and come, baby.”

I slapped her ass then gripped her hip to hold her in place while I lifted my hips to fuck her harder.

Instead of going faster, she slowed down, fucking me slowly while pushing her breasts together.

“Shit, these fucking tits.” I sat up, pulled the material of her bra down, and lapped at her nipples, shoving my face in between the two. Her hands moved from my chest to the headboard, where it slammed into the wall from our movements.

“Fuck me, Rae. Fuck me,” I rasped as the headboard slapped against the wall with more force, and while I knew Rae was trying to stop it, she finally let go and clenched around me on a gasp.

“Oh my God, I’m there! I’m there! Davissssssssss.”

“Shit, the whole fucking house is going to hear us,” I panted, laughing as I came so hard it made my vision blur.

Right as Rae sagged into my chest, she panicked.

“Shit, I can’t believe I left her alone so long with Colson. I have no idea if he’s still breathing.”

Jumping off me, she snatched up a box of tissues and began cleaning herself up, then she tossed the box to me. Once I had situated myself back into my jeans and zipped, I sat up to see Rae with one leg in her jeans, hopping to get the other in.

I decided I didn’t want to keep this feeling inside anymore.

It felt so good when I had opened up to her about my family and my past. I knew if I just said it, even if she didn’t say it back, that I’d feel better, and this burning in my chest every five seconds would ease up.

Taking a deep breath, still watching her struggle with her jeans, I confessed.

“I love you.”

She stopped moving, completely frozen mid-wiggle, still facing away from me.

“To be completely clear, I’m in love with you.”

Right as I finished the last word, the door flew open, and Rae screamed and fell over.

“I knew it! You were fucking at my dinner party, and with Colson Hanes here. Our friendship is over, Rae. Over. Don’t call, don’t come by, and do not text me.”

“We did not!” Rae lied, and not very well.

“It smells like sneaky sex in here, and you’re naked.”

Rae clicked her tongue. “I had to change from the wine. Davis is dressed, see?”

Nora narrowed her eyes on me.

“We could all hear the headboard, assholes! You better not have gotten a speck of man juice on that comforter!” she yelled, slamming the door shut again.

“Guess that means Colson left if she just yelled that at the top of her lungs?” I asked, moving off the bed and bending down to grab Rae’s shirt.

“Guess so,” she replied softly, her eyes fixed on the copper button of her jeans. “I have a feeling everyone is gone, and that she’s not doing well. Nora never yells like that when people are around. Go ahead and head home. I’ll call you when I’m all finished up.”

She raised on her tiptoes and kissed me.

Grabbing her by the waist, I pulled her to my chest and slid my hand up her back.

Softly moaning into my mouth, I moved to gain better access to that tongue, and right as I did, the door flew open again.

“I’m not joking, Rae! End of our friendship. Get your ass out here now!”

Rae laughed into my mouth and darted out the door, pulling her shirt on as she went—leaving the void of what I’d confessed behind.
