Chapter 23
Knox
Ihadn’t planned to spend the afternoon with Kacey naked beneath me, but I’m not about to take it for granted.
After everything she told me on our ride, I finally feel like we’re making progress. She’s starting to trust me, and I wasn’t going to ruin it by seducing her. But she started this, and now I’m determined to see her finish.
When she asked why I didn’t date, it was a relief to finally tell her.
There was a moment where I was remembering that summer, and I can’t think of a single good memory, even when I was number one.
Megan always made me feel bad that I wasn’t there for her, but in the next breath was so proud and bragged about me to her friends. I was a headcase all summer.
Kacey moans beneath me as thoughts of leaving for the summer and our future—or lack thereof—try to creep into my mind, but I push them out.
I move over to her other breast and lick a slow circle around it. She’s breathing quicker and I can feel how wet she is for me. My cock aches, but this isn’t about me. I want to see her come apart for me.
She arches her back when I suck it into my mouth. I don’t warn her before I slide two fingers inside of her and she clenches tight around me.
“Oh my god, yes,” she gasps.
I pump my fingers in and out, but I don’t touch her clit. “You’re so tight around my fingers . . . and I can’t take my eyes off these perfect tits.”
I can feel her get wetter at my words.
Good, my girl likes it when I talk dirty to her.
I kiss my way down her body, yanking her sweatpants as I go. She spreads her thighs for me, unashamed of her need, and I love it.
“I can’t get enough of you, Kace. Do you taste as good as you feel?” Once I get to her clit, I don’t hesitate to find out.
I lick her slowly at first, teasing her before I suck her clit, hard. She bucks her hips into me as I use my other arm to grab her waist and hold her so she doesn’t fall off the damn couch. I keep going, working her closer to the edge. “You taste fucking amazing.”
“Knox I—” She can’t finish her sentence, but I know what she’s saying.
I lift my head to look her in the eyes. I can see the protest on her lips before I put pressure on her clit with my thumb and she throws her head back.
“I want to watch you. I need to see you come apart for me.”
She moans and rides my hand. It’s the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen.
“Be a good girl and come for me.” I grab one of her nipples and roll it between my fingers.
She gets so tight on my fingers it makes my dick twitch. I can feel her start to pulse and she’s dripping wet.
“That’s it, sweetheart. You’re so beautiful.”
She grabs my arm that’s playing with her tits and digs her nails in. She moans my name and rides my hand as her orgasm rips through her. I keep pumping my fingers and lean down for a kiss while she rides it out. I could watch her come all day.
Once she’s finished, I flip us on the couch so she’s laying half on top of me tucked under my arm.
She kisses my chest and looks up at me. “That was . . . amazing. I’ve never . . . .”
I chuckle and kiss the top of her head. She runs her hand down my stomach and pulls on the strings of my sweatpants. I grab her hand, pull it up to my lips and kiss it.
“Relax, we don’t have to do anything else. This isn’t why I came here today; I hope you know that.”
“I do. I just . . . want to return the favor,” she says with a small smile.
“Trust me, that was just as fun for me as it was for you. I’m a grown man, I—”
My phone starts to ring on the coffee table. I grab it to see that it’s Trey and send him to voicemail.
“Sorry, it was Trey. I don’t need you to do anything, Kace, I’m here because I want to spend time with you and if we have sex right before I leave for the summer it will feel like a one-night stand and that’s not what I want—”
My phone rings again.
I’m going to murder him.
She reaches to grab it off the coffee table. “Okay, I can understand that. You should answer it, he might need something,” she says softly, handing my phone to me.
She lays her head down on my chest, snuggling into me as I answer.
“What, Trey?” I answer, exasperated.
“Where ya at, buddy? I figured if you got home in time, we could throw some steaks on the grill before we clean the camper.”
“I haven’t left yet. I don’t think I’ll be back until tomorrow.” I start lazily rubbing Kacey’s back with my other hand.
“What? You said you were leaving today.” I can feel Kacey tense. “You better not bail on these rodeos or so help me—”
“I’m not bailing,” I snap, cutting him off. “When have I ever bailed on you? I’m just leaving a day later than planned. I’ll be home by noon tomorrow and we’ll load the camper.”
“And I guess I’ll be cleaning it by myself tonight. What is your deal? I’ve hardly heard from you since you got there and now, you’re not even going to get a full day at home before we leave. You’ll have to find a twenty-four hour dry cleaner in Texas.”
“It’s fine, just clean the camper, please. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“I better see you tomorrow or I’ll come find you. I don’t even know what rodeos I’m supposed to be at this weekend. You’re my secretary; I need you.”
“Ha. Yeah, yeah, I’ll be there.” I hang up the phone, tossing it back onto the coffee table.
Kacey immediately sits up and grabs her sweatshirt. “You were supposed to leave today? Why didn’t you tell me? We didn’t have to go riding; you could’ve left. I’m sure you want time at home before—”
I can tell she’s spiraling, so I cut her off, grabbing her forearms, pulling her back to me. “Kace, I chose to stay an extra day. I wanted to go riding with you. After I leave, I don’t know when I’ll get to see you again. I wanted as much time with you as you’d give me.”
I feel her release a breath and some of the tension leaves her body with it.
“I don’t know if you’ve noticed or not,” I say as I run my nose up her neck, tickling her with the week-old scruff on my face, “but I’m obsessed with you.” She giggles and tries to climb away, but I wrap my arms around her. “Wait a minute, are you ticklish?”
“No, not at all,” she clearly lies, while actively trying to get away from my hands that are now walking up her rib cage . . . tickling the “not at all” ticklish woman. She’s laughing and smiling—my two favorite things.
I finally relent, and we snuggle back into the couch.
“Where do you go first?” she quietly asks while she watches the fire.
“Mount Pleasant, Texas. Then Hugo and Durant, Oklahoma this weekend. After that, we’ll head down to Weatherford, Texas, for their Extreme Bulls and Rodeo.”
I can tell she’s getting sleepy. Her breathing has slowed, and she’s fully relaxed into me. Judging by the dark circles under her eyes, I doubt she slept much last night.
She yawns and says, “My dad gave me his Rodeo Network login so I can watch. He said not all rodeos are on there, but a lot are.”
“Yeah, I tend to stick to the bigger, higher paying rodeos and they’re aired regularly. I’d love it if you watched. I really want to keep getting to know you. I know it won’t be easy, but you can always call me.”
She nods as she dozes off, resting on my chest.
We both sleep on the couch for a couple of hours before getting up and making dinner. She lets me help, and we move around the kitchen like we’ve been doing this for years. That’s how it’s been with us since day one. She might not have always been open with me, but we fit together seamlessly.
Once my clothes are dry, we both shower.
“Did you leave anything at Jack’s or is it all in your truck?” she asks.
“It’s in my truck,” I answer.
She doesn’t reply, just grabs my hand and tugs me to bed with her.
I pull her to my chest and breathe in the scent of her shampoo.
“Do you think Buck is going to miss me?” I ask.
She chuckles. “I’m sure he will. He might need to buck Chet off just to make himself feel better. Might make me feel better, too.”
“What’s your deal with Chet? I can tell you two don’t get along. It seems he has a little bit of a chip on his shoulder, but overall, he doesn’t seem so bad to me.”
She yawns and nuzzles softly into me. “That’s a story for a different day.”
I’m still awake long after she’s fallen asleep, memorizing the planes of her face, and how her soft strands of hair feel between my fingers. I want to soak up every moment, because in the morning, I’ll leave, and I don’t know if she’ll want me to come back by the end of the summer.
