June’s Entry

June’s Entry

Place: In the downstairs bathroom

My Sweet Zaria,

This would be the first morning that you rolled over and I wasn’t in bed.

I need you to know that it wasn’t that I didn’t want to be, but I couldn’t.

Now I’m sitting here on the bathroom floor trying to figure out how to write this.

I know there have been a few days between entries, but some shit is going on, Z.

Some shit that I’ve been trying to put the pieces together on.

On the flip side of things, my Father’s Day was perfect.

I know you went to bed wondering if I felt like you could have done anything better.

Well, no. You’ve done more than what I could ask for.

Honestly, if it weren’t for you carrying the boys in your womb, I wouldn’t be a father.

So, Z, baby, know you bringing life into this world was enough for me.

Sharing moments with my kids was all I needed. Hearing my boys say Daddy was one of my fucking highlights. Something about kids makes the strongest nigga soft. I want to keep those memories, keep experiencing times like this, but shit can only last for so long.

Damn, Z. Here I am, grown as fuck, yet when it comes to you, all that shit goes out the window.

No, don’t smack your lips. I’m being for real.

You know you got a nigga soft on the inside, and that’s something you should be proud about.

We got that grumpy sunshine typa love. See, there goes that smile I love so much. Damn, girl, you’re beautiful.

Anyway, Zaria, I need you to know that… Shit, Peace is crying, and I need to catch him before you wake up.

I love you from here to our Calloverse.

Signed,

Mr. Fucking Calloway
