Chapter 13
Destiny's pov
I was still sleeping when I heared a sound coming near me, I ignored it. Soon it went off. Again it started, in a daze I came to know that it was my mobile ringing.
I took it from the night stand and picked the call not seeing who it was because my eyes are still closed.
'Who dared to disturb my beauty sleep'
I kept it beside my ear and answered in sleepy voice "Hello".
"Are you still sleeping princess" I heared someone say.
'That voice is very familiar' I thought.
"Who is this?" I asked lowly in my sleepy daze.
I heared a chuckle from other side and they talked "I didn't think you would forget your boss in one day Miss Walker" .
My eyes widened hearing the word boss, I sat up in my bed and saw the caller ID to see that my boss Liam has called me.
I cleared my throat and answered "I am so sorry sir. I was still sleeping and I didn't see the caller ID before I picked up. Any reason you have called me this early?" I scratched my head thinking why had he called me this early.
"I want you to come here by eight. I have already checked the files. Two of them are not proper. I want you to do it before nine. So hurry up, and before coming to my office bring a cup coffee for me" saying that he hung up.
I was completely still for a minute thinking what just he said. I looked at the time to see its 7.05. And I have fifty five minutes to be there.
I blotted out of the bed only to land on the floor because the sheets were tangled to my legs. I quickly came out of it and ran for a quick shower.
I came out and put a dress which I found first. I put my hair in a messy bun. I don't have time for brushing my hair because its already 7.30.
I rushed out of my apartment and quickly hailed a cab. I didn't have breakfast, I have to manage it in the office by my coffee.
When I reached the building it was already 7.55. Thank God the traffic was less today, so I reached earlier than before. I can see that most of the employees are not here.
I quickly made out of the elevator and directly went to make his coffee. After making it, I made my way towards his office. I put the bag on the desk and picked up his today's schedule. I went to knock on his door.
I hear a "come in" from inside. I went inside and saw he was working on computer typing furiously.
"Good morning sir, here is your coffee and today's schedule" I said by keeping his coffee and file on the table.
"You are ten minutes late Miss Walker. But no problem I have called you early. And here are the files I want you to check it again. Sit here and finish it. After that you can move to your place" he said it without even giving me a glance.
I released a breath and took a seat in front of him. I started checking the files.
After few minutes I feel eyes on me. I looked up at him, but he was sipping his coffee looking at his screen. I shook my head and returned to complete my work.
Again I felt his eyes on me. When I looked up, he was typing on his keyboard looking at his laptop.
I focused on my work. I completed quickly.
"Sir I have completed, you can check now" I said and stood up from the seat and stretched my hands to give him the files.
He took from my hand and checked it. "Good Miss walker, now you can go back to your work" he said and looked up at me. I nodded my head and went out.
I reached my desk and started working on it.
I have had two coffees now, I am hungry. And I still have to wait an hour and half for my lunch. Liam also has not come out of his office. I think he might not had his breakfast because he also came early today. He didn't have any meetings till three today.
Today's work load was more than yesterday. I think the company is planning for some new investments so it was busy. I have to talk about it to Liam.
I was craving for another coffee. I can ask Liam if he wants one. He also need refreshment from his work.
I got up and went to his door to knock. I lifted my hand to knock but the door flew open. Liam didn't see me because he was typing on his phone.
I think he was in a hurry because he dashed right into me. I let out a yelp and started falling due to the force. 'What does he eat'. While falling I try to grab something to stop my fall but my hand reached Liam coat and pulled him with me.
We both fell on the ground with him on top of me. I closed my eyes. We both groaned in pain. His hands were caging me from moving. I opened my eyes and looked at him. His face was only few inches apart from mine.
His eyes met mine. And I feel the world around us has stopped. I can feel my heart beating faster. I can feel his heart beat faster because my hands were on his chest. His light green eyes slightly darkened.
His eyes roamed around my face and stopped at my lips. I don't know why but I licked my lips. His eyes followed my moments.
We both were completely lost in our world that we didn't here someone has came towards us.
I heard them clearing their throat. My eyes widened and started pushing Liam off me. Seeing my moments, Liam came back to his senses and got up from above me. He stretched his hand towards me. I took it and he helped me up.
I dusted my dress and looked up to see a middle age women looking at us. And she was smiling.
I was embarrassed now. I looked down unable to see her.
"Well I didn't expect to see Liam with a girl and that to in such position" I can hear her the amusement in her voice when she spoke.
"Well what can I say Melissa, it seems like she can't stay away from me. I mean who can resist me" Liam said calmly like he was correct.
I sharply turned my head towards him and glared at him. "You are the one who dashed into me mister. I didn't do it on purpose" I said to him.
He turned towards me and replied "Who said you to stand infront of the door".
"Well you should see and walk properly".
"Ohh you think I had a illusion that you will be standing there"
"I was about to knock but no, you was looking at your phone and walked straight into me"
"You should have knocked sooner than waiting for the right time to knock"
"I was not waiting for the right time. Now don't turn this upon me. It's your fault for not seeing the things in front of you"
"It's my office I can walk where ever I want"
I was getting angry at him. I can see in his eyes that he was enjoying this. I was about to reply when I heared a laugh.
We both turned towards it to see that the woman is laughing at us. My face started heating up because I have embarrassed myself again.
I joined my hands in front of me and looked down.
"Oh God" she was still laughing. She cooled down a little and said "You two fight like a little kids. And Liam stop troubling her. I know it's your mistake".
From the corner of my eyes I see Liam pouting at her. He replied "But you don't know that. You were not here".
She slapped his arm lightly and said "I know what you do". She turned towards me and asked "Who are you?".
"I am Destiny Walker. I work here as Mr. Collins assistant" I said politely to her.
"And I am Mellisa, I work as a cook for Liam" I nodded my head at her for her introduction.
She turned towards Liam and said "When I came this morning I found your note, so here. I have bought lunch for you because I know you didn't eat this morning" she lifted the lunch box to him.
She turned towards me and said "You can also join with him. I have packed enough for two people because this guy here will eat like a pig. You can share with him".
Before I can reply Liam answered "Yes you can join with us Destiny. I am sure that you didn't have your breakfast today because I called you early. Come on we can eat now".
I couldn't even protest because he already took Melissa's hand and entered his office.
I don't have a choice but to follow them. Liam opened the balcony door in his office and assured us to go there. He closed the door and came to us.
They both sat on the two seat couch and I sat on the one seat couch next to Melissa.
She opened the boxes and gave each of us one.
I was so hungry that I started eating straight away. I hear a chuckle next to me.
I see Melissa was smiling at me. I blushed and looked down.
"Looks like someone was very hungry" she said. I looked at Liam to see he was eating but has a little smile on his face.
I nodded my head at her and continued eating. After few minutes she started asking questions about me and my parents.
I was having a great time, she was telling me one of her stories. Liam was just sitting there eating his food. Sometimes he would look at us. After sometime he would join by cracking jokes about her.
They seemed to have a good relationship. We eventually finished our lunch. Melissa packed the empty boxes.
Liam said he wanted to use the restroom and excused himself.
Melissa looked at me and said "You are very nice girl" she put her hand on my hands which was placed my lap and continued "I hope you two will work out soon".
I was confused at her first but then my eyes widened at her. I shook my head at her and replied "It's not what you are thinking. He is just my boss".
"I know dear, but you don't know the fate how it works" saying that she left.
I sat few seconds confused at her words and got up to leave. I reached the door and I was about to open when I heared a voice behind me. I turned towards him.
He just got out off his bathroom. He came and stood infront of me at few foot distance and replied "I want you to cancel the lunch appointment which I said you yesterday".
"OK sir, but can I ask why?" I asked
He turned his head towards left and mumbled something. I couldn't hear properly.
"Did you say something" I asked again.
He turned towards me and said "No, I said nothing" and returned to his seat.
I didn't ask any further questions and went to my desk. I cancelled the appointment.
As I was working, my mind went to the earlier scene. When he was near to me, my heart beat started beating faster. There is no way I like him. It's been years since I felt like that.
I should not be feeling like this, that to not with Liam.
While preparing his tomorrow schedule, I saw that he has to leave for London tomorrow night. It was for three days.
I should inform this to him. I will have to inform it after his meeting.
