3. The Wedding Proposal
I decided to talk to Dad about Bhai and Abhigya as I promised.
It's morning time and I made a coffee for Dad with my hands. He loves my coffee.
I went to him and he was reading his newspaper. But he kept it aside immediately after seeing me.
"What are you reading Dad?"
"Nothing more important than my Ishu."
"Coffee!" I handed it to him.
"How's it?" I asked.
"Perfect. Just like my Ishu." He said patting my cheek.
"Dad!"
"Ha beta"
"Bhai is in love with someone."
"With whom?"
"With Abhigya Ratore. They both love each other and want to get married."
"But Abhigya is doing her masters right now."
"Yes Dad"
"Let's talk to her parents after her completion."
"So you agree?"
"Of course, I agree. Abhigya is a nice girl. And her family is also good."
"Love you Dad"
"Love you more mera bachha.:
I rang my brother to inform the good news. He went on a business trip yesterday.
He was very happy and said he would inform Abhinav immediately.
Ishaan called me and said Isha succeeded in convincing her dad and he will convince his mom.
This girl definitely has some powers. She made her dad agree within minutes.
Now it's my turn to convince my family.
I came down and sat at the breakfast table.
"Abhinav I have something to ask you," Dadisa said.
"Ji dadi sa. Even I want to say something to you."
"I and your Dadu think that it's time for you to get married."
What the hell? I wanted to talk about Abhigya's marriage. From where did my marriage pop up?
"But we need a girl for that," I said.
"We think Isha will be a perfect match for you."
"Even I think she can be your perfect partner." My dad added.
"Ji bhai sa she is a sweetheart." Kaka sa joined.
"She is very kind and mature." Abir joined them.
Abhishek is smiling looking at me. Abhigya is as shocked as me.
"But dadi sa it's not only about us. Their family should agree too." I said.
"I spoke to her mom at the temple she too thinks you two can make a great pair. And she said she would talk to Harish and Isha about this."
"I'm okay with it if Isha agrees," I said hiding my happiness. I don't show any emotions in front of anyone.
"I'll call her after breakfast." Dadi sa said and the table fell silent again.
I called Ishaan and informed the situation.
"Are you trying to tie the knot with my sister before I get married to your sister?" Ishaan asked.
"No Ishaan. I'm the elder one in the family so dadi sa wants me to get married. And after they met your sister they just love her and want her as their daughter-in-law as soon as possible."
"Achha then what about my love?"
"As your father said Abhigya is still doing her masters. Let her complete her studies first. I'll talk to my family after a few days and try to convince them to let you both get married soon."
"Okay."
"Hey listen are you okay with my family's proposal?"
"Of course I am. I think you both make a great pair but the final decision will be Isha's. And after your arrogant behavior last time, I don't know what she will say."
"Talk to her na."
"Okay, baba. I will."
I really regret that behavior now. I wanted to look normal in front of her but forgot me being normal is being grumpy and arrogant to others. I hide my emotions so that no one will be able to use them against me.
My mom came to my room and offered a head massage. I agreed and sat down with Maa on the bed oiling my hair.
"Ishu I have something to ask you."
"Ji maa."
"Well, I think that you and Abhinav make a great pair."
"Me and Abhinav?"
"Yes. I spoke to his dadi. They want you to be their daughter-in-law."
"But wasn't it about bhai and Abhigya?"
"They have some time. But before that we want you both to get married."
"What did Papa say?"
"Papa thinks they are a good family and we have known them for years. Abhinav is a great guy and is hardworking. He is okay with anything you decide."
"I'll talk to bhai once."
"Okay, you bhai behan discuss and inform us."
After Mom left I called Bhai and he too said Abhinav is a great guy and never had a girlfriend. He will take great care of me. He said Abhinav is bad at expressing his feelings but is very caring.
I had a crush on Abhinav for the last 2 years. I attended his guest lecture at my university on my orientation day and had a crush on him since then.
I said yes to my mom and she informed the Ratores immediately.
I got a call from Dadi sa saying Isha has agreed to the wedding and she is going to come with her family to discuss wedding dates tomorrow.
I asked my secretary to clear my schedule for tomorrow.
I was dancing inside but acted like it didn't matter to me.
Isha came along with her parents while I was descending the stairs. She wearing a suit and looking gorgeous.
I came down and sat beside Abhishek on the couch. I was wearing regular clothes as I was not going to work.
Pandit Ji announced a muhurat after 20 days. I was happy with it but Isha looked bothered. I wanted to ask her but I couldn't show that I care in front of everyone.
Noticing Isha Ishaan asked, "What happened?"
"Nothing I'm just worried that I can't get everything I want for my big day within 20 days." She replied.
"Don't worry princess I will make sure you will get everything you want." Her father replied patting her head smoothly.
"Thank you, papa." She hugged him.
Two weeks passed and it's our engagement today. We have several functions from today so I took a break from my work.
I came out of my room to look at the arrangements cause I didn't want Isha to feel something was missing. The stage was beautifully set.
