Chapter 23 Questioning the Past

They argued during the day, and when I came home at night, they were still arguing.

"Aren't you the one who hates her? What are you fighting for?"

"Only three nights left. One night each is fair."

"Just the two of us can split. What does it have to do with you? Get lost and don't delay me sleeping with wife."

"You two both have Ghost Relics. Why should I come for nothing?"

"Damn, do you have no shame? You used an item to snatch the Work Badge."

The Husband chose to wear the gold-rimmed glasses today.

I pouted.

The Husband raised his eyebrow slightly. "Unhappy to see me like this?"

I complained softly, "This version of Husband was so fierce yesterday."

The Husband was stunned. "You can remember?"

I looked at him like he was stupid.

Why would I not remember?

Today he still slept on the reading chair but chatted with me for a long time with interest.

He said, "Actually, I slept very comfortably last night too, no dreams."

I hummed lightly.

Of course. I had crunched and crunched last night until I was tired.

"You?" He seemed a bit dazed. "No wonder I didn't feel uncomfortable today. I've had a headache for a long time because of the poison in my body."

He sat up and stared at me for a while before speaking.

"Actually, what they said is wrong. Having money does not mean being loved.

My parents died in a car accident when I was very young.

Grandpa was very strict with me. He only wanted to train me into a qualified heir.

But my uncle planned to kidnap me, and my best friend gave me slow-acting poison.

If I hadn't entered the ghost anomaly game to hang on to life, I might have died already. "

My sleepiness vanished completely.

I opened my eyes wide and listened to his story attentively.

"My real life looks glamorous, but it's actually a mess."

"Actually, I only truly had friends when I met the two of them in the game."

"I'm sorry for what I said about you yesterday. I just did not want to lose my only two friends."

He touched his heart and continued, "Actually, your love is very pure and very cruel. It's given without reservation, yet can be lost at any time. But being loved is addictive... heh."

I blinked and looked at him.

"My story is done. Your turn." He also turned his face. The lenses reflected light so I could not see his expression. "Your previous Husbands... I mean, what did I look like before?"

My mind went blank.

I racked my brains but could not remember.

"You said you could remember?"

The Husband lay back down again. His tone was unclear if relieved or more annoyed. "So you'll still forget, right?"
