Chapter 24 Husband’s Sticky Farewell
For the next two days, my Husband was very clingy.
I spent quite pleasant evenings.
That morning, he clung to me as I headed out.
I nearly left late.
My Husband wore a sports shirt and hugged me tight.
"Wife, I hate to let you go. What if I never see you again?"
Was he heading out on another trip?
My heart felt emptier than ever.
Had I felt the same before? I thought for a while but could not remember.
The black-skinned Husband hugged me even tighter.
He buried his face in my neck, voice muffled.
"I will find every way to return to you, even if I become something weird."
I stroked his messy hair.
A wet coolness touched my neck.
My Husband's final goodbye was far more restrained.
He made no more physical contact.
His voice stayed calm.
"...See you if fate allows."
Half a minute after he left, he came back.
"Sorry."
He had forgotten his gold-rimmed glasses.
Or perhaps he had not worn them since waking.
...
My Husband was gone.
The house fell into empty silence.
I felt a rare chill.
Yet my account suddenly gained a cold three million, transferred in three installments.
