Chapter 9

The next day, Harrison woke up and lifted his head only to find out that Harper wasn't on the bed. Looking at the time,it was only 4.30 in the morning. Where could she have gotten to? Did she head back to the bar like he told her not to? He had just saved her from being molested yesterday, why was she so stubborn?

Just then he heard the sound of pots and pans coming from somewhere in the house. Who dared to try and break into his house?! Harrison stood up from the sofa and walked out of the room ready to catch the intruder who had dared to enter his home. He walked into the kitchen and was stunned. In front of him was Harper who was in an apron holding a bowl and mixing something.

She seemed to have sensed someone's presence so she turned around. When she saw Harrison she smiled at him "You're up? Come sit down breakfast will be ready in a few minutes. "Harrison?"

Harrison snapped out of his trance and said "Wait" before heading for the bathroom.

What was wrong with him? He actually thought Harper resembled that woman? No freaking way! He had to come back to his senses, being alone with a woman had finally started taking a toll on him but that was way too fast wasn't it? It had only been two days! Was that woman a witch or something? Hold on,why was he thinking like that? That's way too childish! Harrison, get back to your senses!

A few minutes later, Harrison came out of the room all dressed up. "You got dressed for work?" "Yeah" "But it's only 5! The company doesn't open until 7" "I like getting to work early". Harper was speechless at his response This man really knew how to kill a conversation with just one sentence! No wonder none of the ladies at work were able to approach him,he was simply way too cold. If she didn't know any better, she'd think he was like one of those cold CEOs from the books she liked to read. Hold on a minute...

"What's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?" "Nothing" Harper didn't know why,but she suddenly remembered one of the books she'd read. The male lead was actually a billionaire but pretended to be a poor bodyguard. What if...

Harper shook her head in her mind, there's no way that could be true, that only happens in books right?

Harper was so lost in thought that she didn't notice when Harrison had stood up. She felt someone looming over her and flinched. "It's me" Harrison saw the relief on Harper's face and furrowed his brow. Had what happened yesterday done something to her mental state? "Are you sure you don't need to go to the hospital?" "No I'm fine. I still need to go to work" "There's no need, you're on leave" "Uh?" "Your friend helped you ask for it" "Tina?"

A small figure came in and Harrison turned to leave "Wait!" Harper tried to stop him from leaving but he simply turned around and said "Don't worry, you just stay at home and rest" "Oh but-" "Harper Avery Carson! You have a lot of explaining to do"
